tHE BIRDS NEST WITH BABIES, IN OUR HANGING FLOWER POT

Wednesday, August 11, 2021 Cloudy Rain coming 91 degrees 4:28 p.m. Thundering

Another typical summer day……..hot, humid, the air heavy, the smell of rain, the question of will we get the storm? or… Will it pass us by? Time will tell. I am hoping for rain. Dottie, in Clinton, said that it passed them by. I haven’t heard from Tina so don’t know if Oak Ridge is getting rain or not.

Murphy, the little black puppy dog, has had a very busy afternoon. It seems that the resident squirrel is wanting to dine at the bird feeder. Murphy spied it and out the door he went barking and chasing the squirrel up the oak tree. He sat at the bottom of the tree for a long while, the squirrel sitting quite a ways up the tree, but still in sight, watching Murphy. Finally the squirrel went way up the tree so Murphy came back inside. About a half hour later out the doggie door he goes, barking up a storm and chases the squirrel away from the birdbath area and back up the tree. This has gone on most of the afternoon, keeping both busy and I know that they are getting their exercise. The rest of the puppy squadron are enjoying napping in the pleasant, air conditioned den. They leave the squirrel chasing duties to Murphy.

Jerry and company are having a great time. Today they are going to go whale watching. That sounds like fun and very interesting. Yesterday they were relocating to Girdwood and were to do some site seeing along the way, They had their picture taken with their heads in the Eskimo fur-hooded outfit and pasteboard huskies pulling the sled. A cute picture. I can’t wait to see tomorrows pictures of the whales and whatever else they manage to see and do. I guess I am an armchair traveler at the moment.

Have a wonderful rest of your day. Make it special, fun, cheerful, productive and blessed.

Our close-pin door wreath made by Charlene, Tina and Sandy

Tuesday, August 10, 2021 Mostly cloudy Rain coming Muggy 90 degrees 4:03 p.m.

Another beautiful day in Knoxville We have both Sunshine and clouds and rain is predicted sometime later on this afternoon or evening. I presume that they will be thunderstorms. when I went to bed last night it was raining pretty well. I didn’t hear thunder so we might of missed that part of the storm. Right now there is no breeze, all is still.

The dogs are on their siesta so all is quiet in here. Soon it will be time for people to start returning home from work and the dogs will have to let me know when each car gets on our street. Across the side street is a nursery. the lady keeps three or four children so their parents will be picking them up. The dogs will let me know. They would be out in the back yard barking if they could see the squirrel out there working its’ way toward the bird feeder. Murphy, the black one, is especially fond of chasing them. The other two act like they like it but get sidetracked easily. Wyatt is past the age of chasing much of anything.

The National Weather service just issued a severe thunderstorm warning for oak Ridge, for the next hour. I don’t know if Tina is napping or working on painting the cupboard inside. I guess she will know about it once the Milo runs up stairs and hides under the bed or covers on the bed. He likes both hiding places. WE can use the rain so I hope Oak Ridge gets a good r rain and no damage. It fascinates and surprises me how fast the landscape dries out here after a rain, and how it all depends on the almost daily rain to keep green and pretty.

Have a great afternoon and evening. Be kind and be safe. Be healthy.

Blessings

A bib made for a sweet baby boy three years ago.

Monday, August 9, 2021 mostly sunny rain coming 88 degrees windy 5:10 p.m.

I am at Jerry’s home, with 4 beautiful and fun dogs. I will be here for the rest of the week, dog sitting and enjoying the new view from his windows. I have learned that here, in his back yard, he also has a visiting squirrel and cardinals as well as hummingbirds who are quite friendly. One came right up to me and stayed for a few seconds. That was awesome to say the least. The bird feeders and birdbath is enclosed in a nice fence to keep the dogs our of it and from chasing the birds. The birdbath is lovely and has a night light on it so it can be seen by the night birds I think. That I am not sure of, but it sure is pretty. There are flowers planted all around the fence and they add the elegance of a small country garden. Being that I am not a gardener, I don’t know the names of these flowers but will take pictures and then find out.

The dogs are good and fun. Finley loves to play fetch and tug of war, so we play several times a day. I wear out before she does. While we are playing Lacy brings a toy and wants to play also. She isn’t quite sure how the game goes, but she holds onto the toy and goes “grrrrr”, then lets go and looks at me. I toss it and she goes and gets it. most of the time she gets sidetracked by another toy or something else and forgets to bring back the toy. Finley takes care of it for her and brings me both of them.

Murphy is the calm, guard dog who keeps watch on the neighborhood and barks when anyone or anything goes down the street or out in their yard. Lacy joins in the sounding of the alarm, and occasionally Finley joins in. Very seldom does Wyatt join in that choir. After a bit he gets tired of them and lets out a deep bark and they all shut up. Wyatt is an elderly dog gentleman of 14 years young. He has made the acquaintance of Arthritis and so isn’t as boisterous or as patient as he was in years gone by. He is a love and enjoys snoozing, walking around the back yard at a leisurely pace, and just being quiet, watching the rest of us do our thing. All in all, they are great company and fun.

Have a wonderful rest of your day. Make it productive, fun, adventurous, joyous and blessed

A LAKE BY OAK RIDGE, WITH THE DUCKS.

Friday. August 6. 2021 In Knoxville TV Mostly Sunny Very Still 82 degrees 1a;30 p.m.

Good afternoon from Jerry’s in Knoxville Tennessee. A sitting here with 4 d0gs, all being quiet and well behaved. I think they are with Jerry, upstairs, as they haven”t left yet. Jerry came and got me early so he could show me some things on the computer. I am most grateful for all of his help.

I am sitting here at the table, looking out at his fenced in birdbath enclosed in a rot iron fence to keep a couple of the dogs out and the birds safe. They have it set up so nice, with flowers tall and blooming around the fence. The bird feeders are hanging inside and waiting for the birds to come and dine. Right now it is their afternoon siesta. It all looks so tranquil and nice. Behind is the fence with tall trees, shrubs and such. There is a home back there, and they have a dog or two who “visits” with these three.

With the heat the birds tend to stay hide or in their nests and not out and about as much. No one seems to be having to fill the bird feeders as often and even the squirrels don’t come around as much. Maybe they all went to Alaska for their summer vacation.

Have a wonderful rest of your day and a cool, fun filled, safe, adventurous and blessed weekend.
