Tuesday, April 30, 2024, Mostly Cloudy, Cool, Still, 71 Degrees 6:41 p.m.

We started the day with rain, thunder and wind. Then just wind and clouds, then a shower, then wind, then just clouds. Finally the sun came out, but played hide and seek with the clouds the rest of the day, including now. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and bright. We shall see.

Not a whole lot going on here today. Bill took his SUV in for the repairs from the accident last week. he got a Hyundai Tucson. It is lovely. It is a 2024 with 8000 miles on it. I really like it and so does he. But, it is a loaner until he gets his back. Since we are thinking of getting a new car in the near future, that is one we should look into. We both like Hyundai’s, and ours has done us very well. It is 14 years old now. We think it is time to think about a younger vehicle.

Dottie went to the doctor yesterday and now has a fashionable gray boot to wear on that foot with the cracked ankle. She was dreading having to get a boot but she said that it is comfortable and her injured ankle feels just fine in it. I am so glad. Now, I hope it hurries up and heals. I know that she does also.

Have a super rest of your Tuesday. I hope it is a Taco Tuesday. Make it a good, cheerful, social, kind and fun day.

MONDAY, APRIL 29, 2024

Monday, April 29, 2024 Mostly Sunny Breezy Warm 78 Degrees 4:58 p.m.

A beautiful Monday. A very pretty spring day here in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. I feel so bad for the people who have been hit by the tornadoes and flooding. That is a bitter pill to swallow for those folks, the heart ache of loosing loved ones, the clean up of the homes and businesses, the wondering about what is next. My heart goes out to them and my prayers go up for them.

The weekend was busy and good. We accomplished a lot that had been put off because there was other things to do. We still have a few minor chores to accomplish but the major ones are done. Saturday, on our way home from Knoxville we stopped at the fruit stand and bought strawberries. Yesterday, after church, we went to Kroger’s and bought angle food cake. So this evening we will be having strawberry short cake. We got a small basket to start with but just might have to go Saturday and get a bucket of them.

Today Stanley Steamer came and cleaned all the vents, including the dryer vent. And got the HVAC ready for summer. It was a bit expensive but they did an excellent job. They spent nearly 3 hours and were looking at and taking apart and putting back together, cleaning everything. That included taking the dryer vent hose or pipe off and cleaning the dryer as well as the vent. That took a bit of time. I do believe we are set for another year or two. Maybe more. With all the pollen we have this year I know that it will help with the sneezing and runny noses.

Now it is time I headed for the kitchen as Tina will be home soon. This time of day arrives quite quickly at times.

Quote of the day: “A good laugh is as good as a prayer sometimes.” Lucy Maud Montgomery, 1974 – 1942. Canadian Writer. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Proverbs 31:25

Have a great rest of your Monday. Make it a cheerful, productive, positive, and fun day.

FRIDAY, APRIL 26, 2024

Friday, April 26, 2024 Cloudy Rainy Still Chilly 58 Degrees 4:00 p.m.

A quiet day. We have had showers on and off all day so not a lot of birds and squirrels out and about. Sierra is sitting and watching…… and waiting…….! Not even a dog walking by with a person, on a leash. I guess pee pads are used when the weather is inclement.

It is Friday and the start of the weekend for most folks. We are supposed to have a nice and warm weekend, with the temperature in the 80’s to keep us warm. There are all sorts of activities going on all around East Tennessee. So many Farmer’s Markets starting up. i think we might visit the one here in Oak Ridge. Then there is a few places or organizations holding fund raisers for different causes. One is for feeding the people of Heidi’s who are recovering from the devastating, I believe, earthquake. There has been so many natural disasters all over the world that I can’t keep up with them all. I do know that there are several fund raisers going on, from car washes to craft sales, etc. The Empty Cup Coffee Place in Knoxville gives all their proceeds, after expenses, towards helping the homeless find places to live and helps with furniture, food, etc. This is the Volunteer State, and it is true, most people volunteer when they can with what they can.

Our weekend plans are a quick trip to Knoxville, then to do some project around the house. Monday we have the people coming to clean the vents so want to have everything out of the way for them. I am not exactly sure just what they do, but I am assuming they go through each vent. More on that Monday, after they are done.

Quote of the day: “By putting the gift of yearning for God into every human being’s heart, God”s at the same time draws all people made in God’s image to God’s self and into their own true selves.” Robert Bondi, Contemporary American Educator, Writer.

Have a great rest of your Friday, and a super spectacular, safe and fun weekend.

Thursday, April 25, 2024 Sunny Warm Few high white clouds 76 Degrees 5:01 p.m.

A beautiful Spring day. Birds singing, Squirrel hopping around, Bumble Bee buzzing flitting here and there, and even the lizard ambled across the porch. I haven’t seen the chipmunk as yet. Hopefully soon. Also am expecting the humming birds to make an appearance.

Today I have been busy doing odds and ends. I went out to check why the new lights Tina put out don’t come on at night. I can’t see why unless the batteries that came with them are no good. I will check again tonight and see if any come on.

While I was out there I pulled a few weeds. It got to hot so will try that again earlier in the morning. It is nice out there in the morning, so will put on gardening gloves and pull a few more weeds, grass, etc that is popping up in our flowerbed. The Azaleas are doing well, one is white flowers and the other is pink. The Holly bush is growing fast and is so pretty. WE both love having the rocks in the flowerbed as it brightens everything up. Tina will soon be planting her wild flowers around the Dogwood tree. I hope they do well and come up. That should be pretty.

I have pork chops and rice in the oven for dinner. It is a simple dish but good. Pork Chops, Rice, cream of mushroom soup, a bit of onion soup mix , cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes, uncover and bake another ten to fifteen minutes, until all liquid has evaporated. It is so good. And, Tina likes it!

Quote of the day: “Far rather would I sit and sew besides my poor, for this thing is not of my condition. But I must go and I must do this thing, because my Lord will have it so. Rather now than tomorrow; and tomorrow than the day after!” Joan of Arc, 1412 1431. French Patriot and Martyr.

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a relaxing, enjoyable, sociable and fun day.
