THE FALL COLORS IN THE SMOKIES

Tuesday, November 30, 2021 Sunny, Cool, Slight Breeze 56 degrees 5:10 p.m.

I can’t believe all the colors in this state at this time of the year. The trees are simply awesome and are all over the place. The mountains are livid with colors, especially when vies from afar. Just beautiful.

Today is the last day of November already! This year has simply flew by. Now Christmas is 25 days away and I am not quite ready. As usually my best laid plans have gone astray and I will have to hurry to get all done that I plan on doing. I still have a few gifts to get together and a couple of packages to get in the mail. The house is pretty much decorated and for that I am thankful for. We need to get a new wreath for the front door as the ones we had are not working this year. I guess they wear out like everything else.

I have my yearly letter to write and cards to address so that will take a day or two. I have one story to catch up on and a few million other little things to get done. I don’t have idle hands for sure. Tina is working more this month due to the Christmas Rush, so that will be either a hindrance or a blessing, depending. She called and said she had petted four dogs so far and that is the biggest reason to go to work I think. I petted twp and I didn’t have to go farther then the front door for one and the back door for the other.

I believe that one day this week Dottie and I will go shopping. Tina is usually with me when the shopping is done so it will be fun to go with Dottie and not have to sneak what I want to buy. It is that time of year, She is fun to shop with and has good input as well as being good company. We will fit lunch in between stores.

Have a wonderful rest of your day. Make it a cheerful and gratifying day.

Monday, November 29, 2021 Sunny Slight breeze 45 degrees 4:35 P.M.

A beautiful day here in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Even though it is cold it is sunny and pretty outside. The trees are mostly leafless and now we can see homes on the mountains and valleys. Just the evergreens are still in place and keeping their secrets. There are leaves hither and yon but most have been raked up, bagged and placed on the curb for the city to pick up.

It seems funny to see people bundled up walking their dogs who, for the most part, have sweaters on. they seem happy to be out and enjoying the cool air. Even there masters seem to be enjoying the fresh air. The birds are also out and about, eating out of the bird feeders and checking the ground to see what is left there.

Our weekend was sadden by the loss of one of our four legged family members on Saturday. Jerry’s dog, Wyatt passed away. He was such an important part of the family, Jerry’s best friend and loved by the rest of the family here in Tennessee. He will be very much missed by all.

We had a delightful Thanksgiving at Jerry and Tammy’s home. So much good food and such good company. it was a great time. Of course Football and more Football. That just makes the day. I am very Thankful for all….For Family and Friends and all the Blessings that God has bestowed on me.

Have a great rest of your Monday. Make it a wonderful and productive day.

The house is smelling like pumpkin pie. the apple pie is waiting its’ turn for the oven. Then comes the mince meat pie.

Cranberries on the stove simmering. Dinner for tomorrow is slowly being prepared. All the traditions to melt together, the new and the old, from the west USA to the South USA. The stories, the smells, the family, the friends, good health. so much to be thankful for.

WILD TURKEYS IN THE SMOKIES

Tuesday, November 23, 2021 Sunny Still Cold 45 degrees 5:04 p.m.

A beautiful Fall day, but cold. It was 21 degrees when I got up at 7:00 a.m. That is cold. The upstairs stays fairly warm but the downstairs is a bit on the chilly side. Since it is clear outside, no clouds and no wind, it will be another cold night tonight. From my bedroom window I can see the stars and the moon, and the frost on all the roofs and gras. Really pretty since I am inside and warm.

Today we went to Clinton to visit Dottie. She had to do a couple errands so we went along with her, then had lunch at The Apple Blossom. They have good food and a great down home and friendly atmosphere. After that we took a wrong turn and saw a bit of the country side. so pretty with the farms and cattle grazing, goats and sheep in their own fields. Big farm houses with red barns dotted here and there. It was a pretty drive. We finally got back to the main road and went to Walmart. The Walmart there is bigger then the one in Oak Ridge so enjoy shopping there as we can find more. then back to Dottie’s where her god Max greeted us and we had a piece of pumpkin roll. Very good.

Now time to think about dinner and the news and feeding these poor starved fluffy cats. I think the fluff is a bit to many treats. Milo is getting to be a big cat and heavy. Diet time.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Make it a busy, cheerful, productive, kind and joyous one.
