IT IS GETTING T BE THE TIME OF YEAR TO WORK ON CHRISTMAS CRAFTS.

Wednesday, August 31, 2022 Sunny Slight Breeze Warm 87 Degrees 5:13 p.m.

A beautiful. sunny, summer Day! A bit warm but, it is summer! Soon it will be fall and the warm days will turn into cool nights. It is starting to prepare for football weather, fall colors, sweaters and all the great fall adventures. I believe we have twenty two days left in Summer of 2022. Enjoy each of them.

My birthday dinner at Calhoun’s was fantastic. When we got there we found Jerry, Tammy and Dottie waiting for us. Soon after we arrived Robbie Keith joined us. It is so lovely looking out at the river and watching the boats and such. There were two row boats filled with teams rowing, so I think there is a race coming up soon. there must be ten or more bodies rowing the boat. There are both boys and girls teams and I have no clue which were out there last evening.

Dinner! Jerry had brisket ends with Tennessee Whiskey BBQ sauce. (I think). Tina and Dottie had wings and Dottie also has ribs that came with her wings. Tammy had a salad I believe. Robbie had a Rib-eye steak and I had two pork chops. So good. With mine I had a baked sweet potato and creamy spinach. Of course bread was served when we first sat down. For dessert Tina, Dottie, Jerry and Robbie Keith had banana pudding served in a gigantic dish that looked like a very large clear glass beer glass. Tammy and I had fresh peach shortcake. So yummy. All of us had go boxes with the exception of Robbie Keith. He managed to eat all of his banana pudding. He is a big man.

Jerry and Tammy gave me a emergency light for the hall upstairs. That is such a useful gift as if the power goes off it is very dark everywhere. We could of used that a couple of weeks ago. We used our phones to get downstairs, then used flashlights and the lantern. Then, They gave me, Tina, and Dottie tickets to go to the Builtmore to see the Christmas lights and the Leonardo da Vinci – 500 years of Genius. We three are over the moon excited over that. More about that after we do that adventure. Tonight’s dinner is from our take home boxes. What a great meal and a fun evening with wonderful company. I also have to thank every one, friends, family and even businesses for all the beautiful cards, calls, texts and e-mails. What a wonderful start to my 82nd year. The first adventure.

Quote of the day: Until a few years ago, my favorite thing to exercise was my right to vote! My idea of strenuous exercise was, as someone said, to fill the tub, pull the plug, then fight the current! From my calender’s.

Have a fantastic rest of your day. Make it super adventurous, prosperous, exciting and fun.

Thursday, August 25, 2022 Sunny Little humidity Slight breeze 89 degrees 4:35 p.m.

A beautiful late August Summer day. I find it hard to believe that the kids are back in school and not out enjoying the summer sunshine. Here, the kids have been back in school for a week or more. when I was in school, a day or two ago, school went back in session the day after Labor Day. Classes started at 9:00 a.m. and we were out by 3:00 p.m. Now they start at 6:45 or earlier and get out between 1 and 4 p.m. the classes are staggered as are the start and end times. The bus picks kids up here at 6:00 a.m., again at 6:30 a.m. and again around 7:00 a.m. The buses have a big light on top of the bus and that is usually our alarm clock as it reflects in the upstairs bedroom windows. It is much nicer then a ringing or buzzing alarm clock.

This morning Tina and I went grocery shopping. This was the big shopping for the month, with the exception of milk, bread, etc. We stuck to our list and added only sale items for stocking up. We were at Walmart as we thought that would be the cheapest. It wasn’t cheap, believe me. Yes, everything has gone up and up and up. We bought bread flour so that will help with the bread. I am not complaining and am very thankful that we can afford groceries as so many can’t. However, I can’t seem to understand why getting the brands we want aren’t available but the same thing is in the store brand and there is a fair amount of it? And not everything is the same quality so that excuse doesn’t fly with me. Just wondering.

Today is game day so am ready for Pamela to beat me at Yahtzee or maybe Scatagories. I am hoping for Scatagories for a change. Her and Tina both prefer Yahtzee. I thnk they have the dice trained.

WEDNESDAY. AUGUST 24, 2022

Wednesday, August 24, 2022 Mostly Cloudy Still Warm 87 Degrees 5:16 p.m.

A quiet day. All the birds are out and enjoying dinner at the bird feeders. There are some new ones there today. I believe they are a type of wren. Very pretty, small and hungry. I am not sure where they come from but enjoy their visit here.

Last evening I made roasted salmon and succotash for dinner. I had a piece of salmon and that was good. But the recipe called for succotash and all I had was frozen mixed veggies. So I used them. It all went in the oven for 25 minutes and it came out and was very good. I was surprised as the veggies were small. That recipe is a keeper. Easy to prepare and easy to serve.

Since I have been on the phone with my son in Yuma for the past hour and a half, I am ending this and going to fix dinner, etc.

Ouote of the day: How is it that one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire? My calendar.

Have a bright, cheerful, sunny, calm and fun rest of your day.
