THE GOLF COURSE BEHIND OUR AREA.

Tuesday, November 9, 2021 partly cloudy slight breeze warm 71 degrees 5:12 p.m.

Another beautiful fall day. It has been warm the past three days with either a breeze or wind. The wind here is nothing like the wind in the Las Vegas area. It is calmer and softer. So different. The climate is totally different here and I am still getting use to it.

A very busy weekend at our house. Saturday Jerry came over and put up a towel hook in the bathroom. It is nice and works well. He also closed the one living room window that never quite closed. He said that the track was missing on one side. WE know that we need new windows but hope to be able to hold off on that for a bit. This place reminds me of Tennessee Ernie Ford’s song, ” This Old House”. It always need something.

Robbie came and installed the transfer between the dining room and kitchen. That took some doing and we still aren’t sure just how secure it is. It is the floor in the dining room that is causing all the problems. It is cut jagged and laid uneven. One day the floors will be replaced .

Sunday was a birthday party for Tammy’s son. He turned the big 21. We had a great dinner prepared and served by Jerry and Tammy. Steak, Baked potato and a great salad. The cake was good but can’t remember the name of it. I believe it is one of Noah’s favorites. All was so yummy! And since he is a collage kid, he received several gift cards to Canes, Starbucks and Chipotles’ He was a happy camper.

For some reason yesterday was busy and I didn’t get at my blog. It was house cleaning and catching up on letters and such. It took all day. Today was a trip to a few stores, lunch and home so Tina could go to work. Now it is time to feed the starving cats their dinner, wash up a few dishes, get tomorrow morning’s coffee ready and watch the news.

Have a wonderful rest of your day. Make it a useful, productive, happy, joyous, kind an fun day.

WE WOKE UP TO A VISIT FROM JACK FROST THIS MORNING 31 DEGREES

Friday, November 5, 2021 cold windy, sunny crisp 54 degrees 3:10 p.m.

Today is a stay at home day as we were in Knoxville most of the day yesterday. We went for just a couple of things and ended up getting a lot of shopping accomplished. For a change we brought the shopping list and that did help a lot.

The air is filled with the smells of Christmas. Even though Thanksgiving is still three weeks away and turkey;s are in short supply, Christmas seems to be outshining the day of Thanksgiving, and Football. Christmas carols are being sung over all the loudspeakers in the stores, Christmas trees and decorations are appearing in the store windows and on displays in the stores and restaurants. We haven’t seen Santa as yet but am sure he will appear soon.

Meanwhile, the Television stations are encouraging everyone to do their shopping early as price are going up, products are disappearing off the shelves, and probably won’t be replaced.. The shortage is going to get worse. Travel is going to be hard as gas prices are going up (we paid $3.14 at COSCO yesterday). I do believe that most everyone is paying attention to the TV News as they tell all to get their shopping done early, mail those packages early and “don’t miss those deals as there are only six of that item left”. On Line shopping is great. However, they, too, seem to be running out of product. Maybe the next shopping place will be out in the harbor where all those barges are patently waiting to dock and be unloaded. Or the storage containers that the merchandise is stored in after leaving the barges.

Don’t forget about the Holiday Travel plans. Airplane travel is the quickest, but there is a risk of being booted due to over booking of the air lines. Prices are up a bit, and flights tend to get cancelled often due to lack of employees. then there is the possibility of the dis disgruntle passenger who will start a fight, clobber the steward, or attack the cockpit. That would get one’s vacation off to an exciting start!

Have a wonderful rest of your Friday and a very safe, healthy, and enjoyable weekend.

THE NEWS ANNOUNCED SOME ROADS IN THE SMOKIES ARE BEING CLOSED DUE TO WEATHER

Wednesday, November 3, 2021 cold, cloudy windy 50 degrees 5:24 p.m. Brrrr!

Yes, it is Fall, but today is cold and windy and feels more like winter. Our high is 50 degrees which is a bit on the cold side. There is a chance of rain but the weatherman said that it would be just a slight shower at best. There is frost warnings out for tonight so the plants (2) have to come in. The plants have to go to the shower in the downstairs bathroom as Milo loves to dig in them! Sierra has passed that stage,

The highest elevations in the Smokies is receiving snow right now. It is time as Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I doubt we will get snow down this low but it will look lovely up in the mountains. I think we will get a warm up, into the 60’s , by next week.

Halloween has passed but we didn’t get the 40 trick or treaters that Tina planned on. so there is still candy in the candy dish and a few other places. I am very gracious about offering candy to anyone who comes near as it really needs to go. You can’t keep it until next year as all the cute little bars have an expiration date on them. Besides, there is no place to safely store them. That includes my hips!

The neighborhood is quiet today. A few dogs being walked, quickly, just a few Winter Wrens who have been enjoying the buffet at the bird feeder. They are a smallish brown with some white bird, all fluffy and pretty. I think they live in the big tree, the one we call the Bird Condo. In the spring and summer, and first part of fall, it is home to several families of birds. Cardinals, Blue Jays, Robins, etc. Now it is just the Wrens.

Have a great rest of your Wednesday. Make it a cheerful, fun and productive day.

TENNESSEE FALL COLORS

Tuesday, November 2, 2021 Partly Sunny Windy, Cool, 53 Degrees, 5:36 p.m.

A pretty fall day with a mixture of clouds and sun, wind and breezes. Some birds, mostly sparrows, and a few dives. I guess the rest have gone farther south for the winter. Squirrels and chipmunk also. Yes, winter is coming so they say.

I missed yesterday. The day got busy and away from me. The morning started with a Dr. appointment for shots in my back. After that a trip to Jo Ann’s for scrap booking paper and such. Boy, have prices gone up. I think Jo Ann’s is higher then Hobby Lobby, but then everything is higher then a week ago, I believe. Shopping is no longer a fun sport.

The weather is cooling down so time to get out the sweaters and jackets. I have sweats on now and will wear them around the house all winter and probably fall. Since the news came out about how the costs of propane, oil,l gas and electricity are going up due to all the storms and all the people now wanting to leave their homes to go to work, we will dress warm and keep the thermostat down. The new norm .

After our rains last weekend the grass is green and growing, the flowers look a lot better but one can tell that they are giving way departing for the season. The roses are still going strong and blooming like crazy. It is covering half of two windows so am anxious for the freeze to come so I can cut it way back. I hope that in the spring I can keep it cut below window level. We got a pest control person who will start in April spraying for the mosquitoes which Tina is so terribly allergic to. That should help a lot. She wants to get a nice fairly garden going out there.

Have a great rest of your day and make it a happy profitable and gleeful day.
