THIS IS THE LAST WEEK OF THE DOGWOOD TREE BLOOMS. THEY ARE SLOWLY BEING BLOWN AWAY BY THE WIND.

Monday, April 25, 2022 Partly Cloudy Breezy A Bit Humid 82 degrees 4:08 p.m.

A lovely Monday after a nice weekend. The weekend was beautiful, warm, sunny and just perfect. We enjoyed the good weather that allowed us, and all, to go to the Farmer’s Market, and three garage sales. One garage sale was at Country Club Estates and the house was at the top of a long uphill driveway. A beautiful home with lush landscaping. Tina hiked up the driveway and viewed all the goodies and chatted with the lady. The lady was a senior citizen. She had laid her sale stuff on the floor of the garage on sheets. She was selling clothes, bras, undies, pj’s, and such. All very clean, neat, looked new and tastefully placed. She also was busy working on her landscaping as she said it took a lot of time as it was in so many layers. I believe that as it was beautiful.

The next garage sale was a cute little home and they mostly had old movies, children’s games and toys, and some clothes. Also tires that looked good.

The third was a flea market up at the parking lot of the high school. We didn’t stop as there didn’t seem to be anything we were interested in. Home was the next destination. there we spent the rest of the day.

Sunday we went to Dottie’s for dinner. Pot Roast, potatoes, carrots, onions, corn bread and brownies. All so good and yummy. Jerry and Tammy were there as well. We had a great time with great company. A fun day.

Today, Monday, was laundry day. And catching up on the e-mails and mail. Tina worked outside a bit , the garden is the forefront of her thoughts at the moment. Planting in earnest will begin Wednesday. Am looking forward to fresh veggies.

INTERESTING, BUT AM NOT SURE WHAT THEY ARE….

Friday, April 22, 2022 Sunny Calm 82 degrees 4:01 p.m. Cats Snoozing

A beautiful start to the weekend. Warm, sunny, with a very slight breeze. A great day to be outdoors in the yard, planting, weeding or just enjoying the great outdoors. We have had the window open and enjoyed airing out the house. We now know that the windows need help.

The one window I had open a ways, decided to open wider, on its’ own and hit the computer. Neither window or computer were hurt. It startled me and made me aware that something has to be done with it. It is now closed but am not confident that it is secure. The mysteries of this house are always keeping us on our toes. It is the challenge that makes it interesting and fun? Well, at least interesting.

Mayor Bill introduced Tina and I to a new Mexican restaurant here in Oak Ridge. It is called Barrio, and it was wonderful. They had street tacos and street corn and both were delicious. The restaurant was on the small side, but cute, clean and cheerful. the waitress was friendly and helpful. The prices were good. We will go back again soon. So far, this is the best Mexican restaurant we have been at here. The one starting with a Zeppa, or something like that, is also very good.

Tina has spent her two days off doing a lt of yard work. Yesterday we went and bought soil for the container garden ans also for the flower bed she wants to plant under the Dogwood tree. I bought a citronella “geranium” plant and set it outside by the front door. It will help keep the bugs and mosquitos away. I hope to get a couple more of them for both out front and in the carport. The mosquitoes here are plentiful. They love Tina and Jerry, but don’t seem to bother me to much. I guess those two are sweeter then I am.

THE BEAUTIFUL PINK BLOSSOMS ON THIS DOGWOOD TREE

Thursday, April 21, 2022 Mostly Sunny Breezy Thin High Clouds 76 degrees 4:30p.m.

Another beautiful spring day. I missed the blog yesterday. An afternoon shopping, then dinner, did me in. I also did laundry yesterday and that is a day’s job any more. By evening my feet hurt and my legs hurt and my back hurt. I have to remember that I can’t wear Flip Flops all day long. That was the major cause of all my aches and pains yesterday evening.

Today is a great day. Warmer weather, no rain, no frost, just sunshine. Son Jeff called to tell me that Reno was having snow and it was 30 degrees. I was very pleased to tell him that Oak Ridge was having sunshine and 63 degrees. Last week at this time Reno was warm and sunny and we were rainy and cold. Weather sure is consistent this year.

Am watching a young by walking up the street, looking at his cell phone and bouncing a basketball. That is multi talented. He didn’t miss a step or a bounce and the ball didn’t get away from him. I hope he makes it all the way home just like that. I notice that the kids around here play a lot of basket ball. I guess the high school basket ball team is # 1 in the area. The state is very sports minded as well as music minded. This is an interesting state.

Quote of the day: Only you can be yourself. No one else is qualified for the job.

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a truly magnificent day, filled with kindness, smiles, cheerfulness and fun.

THE DIFFERENT COLORS OF THE DOGWOOD TREE BLOSSOM.

Tuesday, April 19, 2022 Sunny Windy Chilly 58 degrees 5:15 p.m.

It has been a beautiful day, but also a cold one. There was thick frost on the roofs this morning and on cars going by on the turnpike. I understand that tomorrow morning will be the same, but the day will be warmer by a few degrees. It looks so lovely out, then when you walk out, it is cold! It is not shorts and tee shirt weather yet.

Our La-Din today was lasagna Caesar salad, Texas toast, spiced peaches and a cookie. It was very good. I love spiced peaches. Tomorrow a new dish will have to be thought up. I am thinking chili as it is cool enough for that. Also, we haven’t had that for quite awhile. With corn bread of course.

In spite of the frost this morning the flowers are still looking bright and beautiful. I guess that they are use to the cold weather. I see the rose bush is starting to come back so have to spray it with a mixture of dawn dish liquid and water to keep the bugs off of it. Will also have to work at keeping it down below the window level as it grows tall and spread out to where we can’t see out the window. We both love watching the birds so have to keep the rosebush down low!

this morning there were goldfinches out there among the cardinals and blue jays, titmouse and warblers. There are so many birds and so many species that I can’t keep up with them. I think the birdhouse has an occupant so will be watching to see who and what comes out of it. I think it is a little gray bird. Am not sure what kind.
