Tuesday, June 14, 2022 Day two of the Heat Wave 94 degrees Heat Index is 106 Still : p.m.
The day has been busy and mostly indoors. It was laundry day at the Walters household in Oak Ridge. I am always happy when that is completely done and I can move on to other fun household duties. I have to say that it is a much easier project since we got the stair lift. A great savings of the back, legs and feet.
The birds are singing and seem quite happy so it can’t be that bad outdoors. Yesterday they left in the morning and weren’t heard from again until this morning. We have a pair of purple finches nesting in our hanging plant. WE have been very carefully and gently watering it so that it doesn’t die and hopefully the birds are happy and well hidden. We had babies fly out of the plant last year and are hoping for the same this year. The eggs are small and blue. There are two of them. We have two birdhouses out in front also but we haven’t seen any birds move into them. I guess they are just for looks.
The heat isn’t helping the garden much. The squash and the cucumbers that ate planted in the pots seem to be burning. We have moved them so that they get some shade, but we think that maybe it is the pots that are all wrong. Next year we will get wooden ones and see if they work better.
