Thursday, July 21, 2022 Cloudy Windy Humid 81 Degrees 3:50 p.m.

I missed doing the blog yesterday as it was a busy day. First of all, the thunder storms were upper most in everyone’s mind. They were said to of started around three in the afternoon but in the afternoon we got the thunder and a bit of lightening and no rain. Of course that was just this part of town. Tina said that it poured at Home Depot along with the thunder and lightening.

I had company later in the afternoon and also went out to dinner. It was a fun afternoon and evening. Pamela and her dad took me to dinner, then we came home and she came and played a game of Scatagories. She won but it was close. The letters coupled with the questions were a bit difficult for the most part.

As we were finishing the game the thunder started then the lightening and the wind. Dottie texted and said that it was storming in Clinton. Tammy texted and said that it was storming in Knoxville. They had rain. We still didn’t have rain. Pamela left as she is now living in Clinton. She called and let me know that she got home safely.. Soon after that Tina got home from work. She was surprised that we didn’t have rain as Home Depot was in the midst of another downpour.

Around 3:30 to 4:00 this morning the storm hit with a vengeance. Milo went under the bed and didn’t come out for three or more hours. It thundered like it was in the bedroom and the lightening lite up the whole room like daylight. And it rained! There have been flood advisories out for different parts of the area all day. I know that some places flooded and also had damage from fallen trees and hail, etc. We were fortunate here as no damage and no flooding. We do have a creek across the turnpike from us and also along the street that we turn off of to get to pour home. We are in a great area. I do hope and pray that the farmers and ranchers are fairing well through all the rain and such. My sympathy to all the dogs and the dog parents, and any other animal that is terrified by the storms.

I understand that we might get some more of the same this afternoon and evening so am getting my blog out just in case the power goes out. WE haven’t had much trouble with power outages since we have been here so hope that we continue that way. I hate setting the clocks afterwards.

Tuesday, July 19, 2022 Partly Cloudy Humid Breezy 86 Degrees 5:06 p.m.

A rather lazy day. Have done a few odd jobs, worked on some Scrap-booking, went to Kroger’s, ate lunch, and not much else. This evening, if Pamela comes it will be games, if not I think either writing, reading or TV. Jeopardy for sure.

We do have a mystery. Tina was wondering why some of her plants in her flowerbed under the Dogwood Tree are laying down while most of the others are standing up? After looking at it I think something is making it their bed at night. So I need to figure out how to change the batteries in our BLINK and turn it towards the tree. Maybe I can catch the “sleeping beauty”. It can be a fox, cat, racoon, etc. Any number of wild animals seeking a comfy spot for a nocturnal nap while out hunting. I understand that there is a night hawk that lives in one of the trees across the way. I doubt he would want to nap in the flowerbed.

Tina is looking for someone to pull weeds in the flowerbeds but so far no one is interested in making a few bucks for about 30 minutes work. she gets eaten up with mosquito bites and they take forever to heal, and they make her sick. She has worn the bracelets, use off and skin so soft, etc. and to no avail. One man said that he would, but that he charged $1.00 per minute and he figured it would take about 45 minutes. Tina said that was fine. He said he would get it done this past weekend. He didn’t show up. Now she is hoping one of the neighborhood kids will want the job. We shall see. I would love to do it but would either fall or get down and not be able to get up. I go out and water but that is a bit chancy also as I am afraid of falling on the uneven ground, as there are several holes and roots here and there not clearly seen. However it is safer then pulling weed.

The cats are telling me it is their dinner time so, guess I had better feed them. They are so persistent.

A RAINY DAY IN OAK RIDGE

Monday, July 18, 2022 Cloudy Rainy Still 76 Degrees 3:55 p.m.

Happy Monday! A great day to stay in and out of the rain. We had a gully-washer here so everything is wet and puddles are everywhere. No flooding right here but we came home from Clinton and several of the streets are flooding so I am sure there are places that are flooded. In spots it rained so hard we couldn’t see the car in front of us. We got home safe and I pray those that were on the road with us did also.

The piano is now gone and the experience of watching Jack take it apart was very interesting. There are 88 keys, which I knew, but I didn’t know that there are at least 220 strings. There are two or three strings to each key. The keys are held on the iron back board by iron knobs. There are a lot more parts and nuts and bolts and screws and tiny nails that went in to the making of this piano. It took him two days to get this piano apart and into the back of his pick-up. I can’t wait to see what type of art hi makes out of some of the pieces. there indeed is one man’s trash and another man’s treasure.

We went and voted today. I do appreciate early voting as there is no line and the process goes smoothly. They have a machine that once you complete your vote and print it, you take it to another machine and feed the long slip of paper (ballot) into it and that is their back-up. It is like putting a bill into the slot at the grocery store to pay for your groceries in cash. No change though. There were a lot of independents on the ballot this time. I guess that being associated with either the Democrats or Republicans wasn’t appealing to them. It might be all the feuding, fussing and fighting amongst them.

I though that I had best get my blog out early as who knows if of when the power might go out and stay out for a while. So far all is well on that score.

TIE BLANKET MAKING WITH SIERRA

Friday, July 15, 2022 Sunny Slight Breeze Quiet 89 Degrees 4:19 p.m.

A pretty day, but hot. We went to the dentist this morning, then stopped at Kroger’s for a few items and home. We wanted to be ready for the man to come and retrieve the piano. He got here about a half hour after we got home. A very nice man, retired, an interesting. He said that he would take the piano and make pieces of art from most of the parts. He showed us some pictures of his art and he does beautiful work.

I thought that he would use the pieces to repair pianos but he said that pianos aren’t worth what they use to be and most people are trying to give them away. We gave this one. Pianos and organs aren’t selling in this day and age. I was rather surprised but when I thought about it there are more modern instruments around, like the keyboards that you can pick up and carry with you. The modern age has caught up with me again. Today he took most of the piano apart and will be back in the morning to finish the job. He has to bring help and a furniture dolly to get the rest out of the house and into his truck.

The rest of the day will be dinner and a bit of TV and early to bed. It was late last night and got up early this morning so I figure I should go to bed early or else I will snooze through television programs, then go to bed. Besides, Tina has to get up at 3:30 a.m. for work so I hope to get up at around 6:00 at.m. and be ready when that man comes to finish the piano demolition.

Quote of the day: One of the Ways to show kindness: The thought is already in your mind, so go ahead and say it: “I like your shoes”.

We will have more ways next week.

Have a wonderful Friday. Make it special, sweet, adventurous and fun. Continue that all weekend long. be safe and healthy.
