HORSES

Thursday, July 7, 2022 Rain coming Slight breeze Humid 86 Degrees 4:50 p.m.

We woke up to thunder and lightening and a downpour early this morning. The rain lasted most of the morning and we heard the thunder on and off. This afternoon has been partly sunny until now when the clouds are moving in again. We are to have stormy weather this evening and tonight but tomorrow is to be welcoming a cold front of which is to dry us out. I sure hope they are right as it is soupy outside right now.

I won’t have a blog tomorrow as I will be Dog sitting for the weekend. Finley, Lacy and Murphy will be my companions and we will have a very nice weekend chasing the squirrel and barking at the neighbor walking her dog and playing fetch, tug-a-war and napping. Throw in a treat or two and a meal here and there and all will be great. I am praying for a dry weekend because the dogs hate the thunder! And Lacy is scared to death of it.

Needless to say our yard, flowers, garden and trees don’t need watering for a couple of days. They are thoroughly soaked and look very happy. The squash isn’t looking to good so think it got way to much water. We will do it differently next year. Julie has done such a good job with the garden and you should see the tomatoes. They are wonderful!!!

People are out walking their dogs, returning home from work and preparing for another storm. We have been so lucky as we haven’t lost power. The power has flickered on and off but not stayed off. That is so wonderful. I do have the lantern sitting out and it is ready and also the flash lights and my phone. all charged, new batteries and ready just in case.

Quote of the day: “Could we with ink the ocean fill—And were the skies of parchment made. Were every stalk on earth a quill…And every man a scribe by trade….To write the love of God above….Would drain the ocean dry….Nor could the scroll contain the whole….Tho’ stretched from sky to sky”. Frederick M. Lehman

Now to finish up the days chores and prepare my things for my weekend with my furry four legged friends. Have a great rest of your Thursday an a wonderful, safe, healthy, restful and fun weekend.

Now to finish up the days chores and prepare for the evening and for my weekend away from home.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 6, 2022

Wednesday, July 6, 2022 Cloudy Slight Breeze Humid 78 Degrees 4:23 p.m.

We have had a major downpour of rain and high winds that lasted about 20 minutes give or take. Now it is nice but we are still under a thunderstorm and heat advisory unto 8:00 p.m. I don’t think we will need to water this evening.

The above picture is of my Uncle Bob. That was taken when he was in the army and it says on his bunk. He was a good uncle, always had a story to tell and sometimes a piece of candy or a sucker. He was stationed In Italy during WWII . When my parents would drive to or threw Ely, Nevada I always wanted to visit Uncle Bob. I thought Italy was the same as Ely. Children!

Both Sierra and Milo have stayed in their hiding places most of the day. Between the cleaning lady being here and the thunder, they have had a rough day. I feel so sorry for the dogs and animals in general as the thunder really hurts their ears. I doubt as much as the fireworks but still, it scares them and hurts their ears.

Quote of the day: If we can keep our minds open to the blessings, humor and education in whatever happens to us—if we can set that little invisible radar dish on top of our heads to constantly search for blessings instead of disasters—-our lives will be enriched by the experiences we endure and we can grow from the calamities that fertilize our lives. Have a great rest of you day. Make it educational, exciting, exuberant, enjoyable and fun

Monday, July 5, 2022 Rain on and off No rain here yet 94 degrees 4:09 p.m.

We have a slight breeze and mostly cloudy at the moment. It has been sunny and very humid. The humidity has hung around and I believe will be here most of the week. It is summer and even though I am not a big fan of the heavy humidity I will stay indoors and not complain. At least today.

I hope you had a great, safe, healthy, and fun 4th of July. We did. Saturday Tammy and Dottie came over and we did painting. Boy, are we good! We like this lady that comes on U-Tube and shows everyone how to paint. She also discusses her funny hair and make-up, her hubby, and most anything else that comes to her mind. I have to say she teaches well. My learning skills are a bit shabby in that department but I learn a little and enjoy the whole experience. You can check the paintings out on Facebook.

Sunday we didn’t do much. Church and Tina went to work and I stayed home. We watched TV and that was about it. Monday, the 4th, After coffee and breakfast, we got ready to go to Jerry’s for a BBQ. Tina made macaroni salad, I got my canned baked beans out and ready to take. (They were a new brand so I didn’t open the can and let them decide if they were brave enough to try them. they were Sassy Baked Beans with a lot of Pepsi ingredients and maple syrup and brown sugar. Surprisingly, they were good. I bought them at Kroger’s. I will get more if they still have them.)

Once we got there, Tammy turned on Bryan Bam Bam Barberena’s the fight from Saturday night that she had recorded. Since we hadn’t seen it, it was a nail biter. I hate seeing him get clobbered and his opponent was doing a good job. Bryan was doing his share of clobbering also. Both received a few cuts and bruises, an I think Bryan received a bloody nose. Anyhow, Bryan won the fight in the 2nd round by a TKO. This was the main event so on Pay Per View. A good fight by everyone’s standards. I was very thankful that neither one was seriously hurt and that Bryan won the fight.

We had BBQ-ed hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad, roasted ears of corn, and banana splits. All so yummy. By the time we left I was stuffed and was sure i wouldn’t eat for a month!

We didn’t hear any of the fireworks last night, but then I was in bed and asleep by 9:00 p.m. so that might of helped. From our “Neighborhood E-mail group” no one in our neighborhood had anything to say about the fireworks keeping them awake. I know other areas of Oak Ridge did. I guess we live in the right neighborhood.

Quote of the day: MEDICAL DEFINITIONS FROM THE HOME FOR THE BEWILDERED! Artery: The study of painting. Bacteria: Back door of a cafeteria. CAT scan: Search for kitty.

Have a great rest of your day. Make it a industrious, energetic, positive, and fun day.

FRIDAY, JULY 1, 2022

Friday, July 1, 2022 Mostly Cloudy Humid Still 93 Degrees 5:39 p.m.

The picture above is of my Gardner Family, in part. Uncle Guy, My dad, Bill, Uncle Fred and my Aunt Mary. This is taken in Iowa several years ago. They have all passed on and are truly missed. Guy was the oldest of the six children and Mary was the youngest of the six children. Uncle Forest and Uncle Bob are the two missing in this picture.

The crowds are out and all over the place here. Kroger’s is packed with people buying things for the weekend. The stockers are stocking ads fast as they can and the shoppers are emptying the shelves as fast as they can. Carts filled with all types of drinks, chips, hot dogs, buns, bread, mayonnaise, miracle Whip, mustard, ketchup, kool-aid and who knows what else. then the highways and byways are crowded with people heading out of town for the long weekend. We were glad to get what we needed and get home, out of the crowd and heat.

We hope that you have a wonderful, safe, healthy, friendly, and fun weekend, whatever you do and where ever you go. Tomorrow we will be rooting for Bryan “BAM-BAM” Barberena to win his UFC fight in Las Vegas, He and his opponent are the main card so if one isn’t there in person they will have to watch the fight on pay per view. I don’t mind not watching as fighting isn’t my cup of tea. But I wish him all the luck and, of course, hope he wins and that neither of them get seriously hurt.

Have a great 4th of July!
