A CUTE QUILT IN THE MAKING

Tuesday, August 23, 2022 Mostly sunny Slight breeze 85 Degrees 4:17 p.m.

The computer was acting weird, or should I say there were some weird things showing up on the computer so I felt it safer to not use it until Jerry could get over and look at it. By the time he got over here to see all of my “fears” they had disappeared. Of course I fine a few weird things on my phone now but I can’t seem to do anything about it. So???? Modern technology!

The weekend was busy and nice. Tina worked each day so there wasn’t much in the way of going and doing. She is now working 8 hour days. Saturday I did some arts and craft projects around here. I have lots to do so won’t run out any time soon. Right now I am working on a book. Tammy called ans asked if I wanted to go see the movie”Elvis” on Sunday with her and Dottie and Melissa. I said sure.

Sunday I got ready and did my normal Sunday morning things. She and Jerry arrived and she said that the movie was off as when she went to get tickets she could only get a seat here and one another place, etc. She never dreamed that there would be a problem as the movie has been out quite a while. So she said that we would go one afternoon this week. Jerry looked at my computer and phone. They left to go see Dottie. When Tina got home she called to see what Dottie was doing. Tammy had picked her up and they went to look at her property. We all ended up meeting at a great Mexican restaurant for a wonderful meal. It was fun and the food was yummy!. That place is a keeper.

Weather is really lovely today. Warm but not very humid. This should last for a couple of days then the chances of rain will once again visit our area. I feel so bad for the people in Dallas and in Texas in general. they really got hit hard with the rain. It is hard when your ground is baked dry and then you get a years worth of rain in a few hours. That is major flooding.

TO-A-DALLY AWESOME

Thursday, August 18, 2022 Sunny Warm Breezy 85 Degrees 4:00 p.m.

Another beautiful day here in East Tennessee. So nice to see sunshine and smiling children, people being walked by their dogs, birds flitting around, bees a’buzzing among the flowers. a typical summer day.

Today I got caught up on the laundry, talked to two sons and answered a couple emails. I made tuna salad, cleaned up the kitchen and made my bed with the help of Milo. With his help I find it takes three times as long to do bed making as well as a lot of other things. He likes to help a lot. Sierra use to be that way but she doesn’t help quite as much now that she is 7 years old and more mature. After all, she is a “lady”.

Last Saturday we shucked corn for freezing and that was fun. Tammy said that the next food event would be peaches to can or freeze. That will take a bit more time and work, but the end results will be awesome, especially if she gets Freestone Peaches. They are so sweet and juicy. I had one for breakfast this morning and it was wonderful. I believe the best peaches around here come from Georgia. We got some last year and they were so good.

Have a pleasant rest of your day. Make is cheerful, full of smiles, laughs and fun.

JERRY AT AIRPORT SOMEPLACE

Wednesday, August 17, 2022 Sunny, Slight breeze Warm 82 Degrees 4:10 p.m.

A very good day. The housekeeper came and cleaned the house. So nice to have her and she does a wonderful job. I love having the glass screen doors sparkling clean without kitty nose prints on them. I know that won’t last long but I do enjoy it while it lasts.

I did a lot of pick up and put away, hung a couple of plaques in the kitchen that have been waiting to be hung for a month or more. Put a couple vases up on the top shelf in the kitchen and things like that. I usually takes me a while to figure out just where they should go. So what is two years?…

Both cats hide when Amy comes with her cleaning gear. Where they hide I have no clue as once she gets in the door, they are gone and don’t come out until she has driven off. I thought that maybe I had locked them in a closet so went upstairs and opened all the closet doors, leaving them open just in case. Then did the same downstairs. Once Amy drove off, Sierra appeared out of nowhere. Then Milo appeared out of nowhere. It is so strange. I didn’t see either of them emerge from anyplace. They were “just here”. So once among the present, they required petting and treats. They are now snoozing, enjoying their afternoon siesta.

WE have Kenny coming over this evening to check the light in Tina’s bathroom. It is blinking and that is not a good sign. I hope it is just a bad light bulb, but since it is both light bulbs, I will hope that it is just two bad light bulbs. But…………..?

The weatherman said that the Southwest is still having flooding conditions and also it is in triple digits there. It is August and the Southwest is always in the 90’s and 100’s this time of year. I am sure they are thankful for the rain but would probably like it covering more days and not all at once in an hour or two. I feel so bad that they are in a drought. Lake Powell is dried up as is Lake Lahonton (sp), and Lake Mead is down so low that it will shortly effect Hover Dam. That is scary. That is the electric source for many people. The Colorado River effect many states and ranches and farm as well as towns and cities. And forests and animals. The whole length of the river is terribly low.

Tuesday, August 16, 2022 Cloudy Breezy Warm 79 Degrees 5:09 p.m.

a beautiful, cloudy day in Oak Ridge. We had a brief shower and that is the rain for the day. They did say spotty showers and it was as spot. Not much and not everywhere. Just perfect.

Today we went to Habitat for Humanity and dropped off some stuff we cleaned out of the shed yesterday. Then proceeded to Dottie’s to take her the plastic bins. it was fun visiting with her and Max, and enjoying lunch. Max likes chicken, was snuggled up to Tina as he was mad at Dottie because she gave him a bath, trimmed his fur and cut his nails. It was funny as normally he has to be right up close to Dottie. It was a fun afternoon.

Last evening Pamela came over and we played Yahtzee. The three of us. We each got Yahtzee’s and won a game or two. It was a fun evening. After she left Tina and I watched a couple of our recorded programs. It is nice to catch up on all of those.

Tina has morning shift for the next five day, so it is up way to early and bed early. she will have to be the one to get up and leave before the sun even thinks about rising. I will probably keep the normal schedule but instead of watching TV I will read. It will be nice to sit quietly and read. I hope the cats will agree to that.
