HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS! Today, I believe, the Marine Corps are celebrating 246 years of brave service to the United States of America. The strong, the brave and the dedicated men and women who have, and are, serving our country for all these years. They have given much, and still give their all help keep our country enjoying the freedoms and security that we have. Simper Fi

The East Tennessee weather is changing. Today is cooler with the sun shining through a high cloud cover. The hurricane that is working it’s way through Florida and up the east coast will be sending us much needed rain starting this evening and continuing through tomorrow. Then the cold is to make its’ way into our state and the winter clothes come out, the heat goes on and the ice scrapers come out for the car windows. Well, maybe not quite that drastic, but cold. At least the mittens and scarves.

Today is clean up my desk day, answer letters and work on the grocery list. We are planning on a trip to COSCO on Saturday morning. It is nice to take the prepared list so that MAYBE we will just get what is on it and not add the extra tempting looking things. We are very good at making the list and it is very good at staying home on the table where we put it so as not to forget it. No, we don’t put it on our phones. That would be to handy.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2022

Wednesday, November 9, 2022 Sunny Slight breeze Mild 58 degrees 10:13 a.m.

Another beautiful day in East Tennessee. The weatherman said to enjoy today and tomorrow as Friday brings lots of rain, then Saturday the high will be about 50 degrees with Sunday being colder. So I will clean the carport; that is sweep up all the leaves that have blown in are are mostly covering the carport area. Then, maybe, I will clean the front area of leaves and water the plants.

I was surprised that our plants got next to no water over the weekend scattered rain showers and Bill’s got drowned. I bailed water out and it didn’t seem to make a difference. I think it must of come pouring down from the roof as that is the only thing I can think of. the plants looked happy but that much water is not good, I don’t think. We didn’t get enough rain to make a puddle.

I didn’t get the cookies made yesterday as I couldn’t get the vegetable oil bottle opened. I had been trying, even with pliers, and Tina had been trying, but neither of us managed to get it opened. Last evening Jerry and Tammy came visiting. First thing Jerry asked was “Did the Cookies get made?” I said no, but maybe tomorrow if you can open the bottle. He did. Guess I will be making cookies today.

The pumpkin bread I made into muffins and they turned out very well. Both Tammy and Jerry had one as did Tina and I. They are moist and nice. My salmon patties were good but the dill weed was from Pampered Chief and contains dehydrated garlic, onion and other herbs so gave the patties a slightly different taste. I will remember that the next time I make them. The garlic really comes through.

Tonight’s dinner will be chicken thighs, mac & cheese, veggie and ice cream. Simple and nourishing. Home made and not fast food. Oh, yes, cookies, baked with love.

Have a great hump day. Make it a humorous, happy, humble, and fun day.

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 8, 2022

Tuesday, November 8, 2022 Sunny Warm Slight Breeze 70 Degrees 11:38 a.m.

Once again we have summer like temperatures in November. the weatherman said that by this weekend we will be getting temperatures below normal instead of above normal. I wonder what normal really is? I think it will be nice to be able to wear a sweater for Thanksgiving. The cooking and baking will warm up the house and the extra pounds that will be added to waists, etc. will help keep the warmth in and the cold out? It works for bears.

I’m considering making pumpkin bread and maybe some cookies today. The snack cupboard is getting a bit bare so needs something to fill up the empty spots. I have been hankering for pumpkin bread and now is as good a time as any to make some. It will also give Tina snack to take in her lunch for work. I am thinking salmon patties and fried potatoes, and broccoli for dinner and this will be desert.

Tina is doing better as no cane went with her to work this morning. she is walking with a straight back and not a limp today and that is a good sign. Now if she just stays that way. She often thinks she is wonder woman and can do everything. Then she painfully finds out that she isn’t. I think that is one of the times when the “truth hurts”.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2022

Monday, November 7, 2022 Partly Cloudy Very Warm 75 Degrees 1:38 p.m.

The weather here is beautiful, but very warm. The weatherman said that it will start to cool down this weekend. This is more like summer then November. Our high today should be close to 80 degrees, if not 80 degrees. It was 80 yesterday.

The weekend was good . We celebrated Noah’s birthday with a brunch at Jerry and Tammy’s home. So good! Besides, Jerry, Tammy, (his mom), Dottie, (his grandmother) there was his Great Great aunt and a cousin from Cincinnati Ohio. After a breakfast of breakfast casserole, biscuits and gravy and fruit and juice, there was cake. The cake, his favorite, was a Tres Leche. It is very good. We had a good visit and enjoyed meeting Dottie’s aunt and cousin. Very fun and interesting ladies.

After we left there we went to where Jo Ann’s use to be. We discovered that they had moved to the West Town Mall. So we went into Tuesday Morning’s and looked around a bit. They didn’t have what we were looking for so left there and headed back to Oak Ridge. We stopped at Home Goods and found what we needed. Since Tina had done something to her leg and back she was using the cane and not wanting to do much in the way of walking or anything else. We went home right after Home Goods.

The Vols lost the game to the Georgia Bulldogs. Sad but one can’t win them all. They lost their 1 place standing which hurt more then loosing the game I think. They are 0 for 1, or however that goes. I hope that they can make it up and get back into the top 4.

Sunday was very quiet around here. We got up, had coffee, watched Charles Stanley’s In Touch Ministries, ate breakfast, started wrapping Christmas gifts, watched TV and did some reading. We had a grand dinner of bacon and eggs and biscuits.

This morning she was a bit better so went to work with the cane. Her new best friend for a few days. We have three of them so she will have one here and in the car and where ever she leaves the other one. I have done the laundry and straightened the house up, dishes and pulled ham hocks, beans and rice out of the freezer for dinner. I will fix a salad and maybe corn bread to go with it. I am trying to use up the leftovers I have frozen to make room for the Thanksgiving and Christmas foods that will be frozen, before or after the great meals. Tina said she will make banana bread this coming weekend. i hope so as we have a ton of bananas frozen.
