Friday, December 29, 2022 Mostly Sunny, Warmish Slight Breeze 64 Degrees 4:27 p.m.

The last Friday of 2022. this year has slipped by quickly with lots of interesting events, both good and bad. People, places and occurrences that have made this year one to stand out in the History books. Wars, politics, Sports, health, crime, and weather. What a year! We have lost many important people. Queen Elizabeth, Allen Quebec, and so many more faces and voices whose actions, faces and voices entered our lives, leaving am impression and added something lasting in their wake. We have lost friends and family as well as acquaintances, all who have left us with memories, a bit more knowledge, and a tiny to large empty spot in our hearts.

We will greet the new year, 2023 the day after tomorrow. People are gathering at Time Square in New York City awaiting the gala event and praying that the new year will bring peace, prosperity, health and happiness. I hope that all will remember the lessons of 2022 and not repeat the mistakes in 2023. All need to remember that being kind, thoughtful, and caring is a gift that gives back. Something a simple as a smile, holding a door, picking up a dropped object, and the magic words, Please and Thank you may make someone’s dark day much brighter. Who knows, those simple gestures might save a life. they cost nothing.

Wishing each of you a very Happy New Year…..Make it a safe, cheerful and healthy one.

See you in 2023.

Blessings

Thursday, December 29, 2022 Sunny, Slight breeze Cool 60 Degrees 4:39 p.m.

A beautiful day. It started out a cold 32 degrees but warmed up nicely. A bit cool but it is winter so want it to be a bit cool. I should say, a bit cool in the back car port and drive but very nice a warm in the front on the entrance way and walk way. The sunshine is wonderful. Sierra laid in her bed on the windowsill all day long.

Tina is home with the flu so is doing what the doctor told her and resting and drinking lots of water. Right now she is having hot cocoa as hot appeals to her. She hasn’t heard from the doctor as to what her COVID test results were. I certainly pray that they are negative. She was hoping to go to work tomorrow but I believe she will be home until Tuesday. She needs time to get over this bought and get her strength back. Also, not to share with anyone else. In this case sharing is not caring.

The 8th of January, a gift from Jerry; Tammy, Dottie, Tina and I are going to Knoxville Tennessee Theater to see the stage play, Tootsie. That should be great. We are all looking forward to that. In April we are going to see a lady comedian. That will be fun, and something different. The start of the new year is sounding mighty good.

After some adjustments to both porches, and they pass the inspection, Dottie will be able to move into her new home. she will start the new year in her new home. That is exciting. I know that she is ready to enjoy the larger space and being closer to Tammy, Jerry and us. Also setting the home up to suit her style and comfort. That is always fun.

As we will be having warmer temperatures and rain, The west coast will be having rain, snow, possible flooding and in general not so nice weather. I hope they have a safe and nice New Years. After all of their fires I hope they don’t have a lot of mud slides.

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a thoughtful, thankful, profitable and fun day.

Wednesday, December 28, 2022 Cold Sunny Slight breeze 47 Degrees 2:11 p.m.

Merry Belated Christmas! It has been a very cold Christmas holiday so far, but the weatherman said that New Years Day will be 60 degrees! And, possibly a rainy day. The high Christmas was 21 I think. It sure was cold and windy. It reminded me of Searchlight, weather wise. That cold north wind. Monday evening it snowed and we still have some of the white stuff sticking around. patches of ice here and there. So wintry.

Christmas eve Jerry, Tammy, Melissa and Dotty came over for breakfast. We had a ham, potato, egg and green onion casserole that was very bland. Tina followed the recipe and it called for no seasoning at all. We also had cinnamon rolls, coffee, orange juice, biscuits and gravy. It was fun being with them and chatting. We won’t serve that casserole again. Or if we do, it will be our version and not the original. Some of the chiefs don’t have taste buds I guess.

Christmas was fun. In the morning we watched Charles Stanley. He was very good, as usual. Then we opened out gifts. That was fun. Sierra was mildly interested but soon gave up the battle of the wrapping paper and went to her cozy blanket for a nap. We each got “fur” throws which we both love as does the cat. I got slacks and a candle, a charming pill holder in the shape of an owl. So cute and pretty. it is up the shelf with the demitasse cups. So many pretty and useful things. Tina, likewise got such pretty things, and her pill holder was a purse. So charming. We each got a couple of gift cards and a movie ticket. So unique and what a thoughtful gift.

We went to Jerry’s fro the afternoon and dinner. Dinner was delicious as usual. We opened gifts and that was fun and great. I got a mat for my desk chair to sit and roll on. It is such a help as it doesn’t roll at all on the carpet. Two sweaters that are so nice and warm, and a mini game entertainment system with 620 classic games built in. I can’t wait to sit down with that and play. I know that it has Mario on it. And many others. I received other wonderful things and am so appreciative of each one.

When we got home we curled up with our throws and a cup of hot cocoa. What a fun and nice and meaningful day. We both feel so blessed to be in Tennessee, with winter weather and good neighbors and family so close.

Monday we went to Knoxville to return a pair of slacks that had been miss sized. As far up as they would go was the knees. then went looking for a couple of things Tina needed, had lunch and came home. We did manage to find a great sale on good Christmas wrapping paper at Home Goods so have that for next year. It was crowded out everywhere and cold and windy so neither of us wanted to stay out longer then need be.

Now I think things will get back to somewhat normal.

Have a wonderful rest of your day. Make it a special, cheerful, warm, enjoyable and fun day.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2022

Friday, December 23, 2022 Cloudy Cold Windy Wintery 6 Degrees 4:30 p.m.

The storm hit in the middle of the night. High winds that did quite a bit of damage all around, but nothing major that I have heard of. It woke me with a loud thud type sound. this morning we could see no damage.

I went up stair to put clothes away and found my bedroom window and screen open from the top leaning against the blinds. We have the windows that you can open inside and wash the outside. The screen had come loose and was laying with it. Thank God for Jerry who came and fixed it so that it will stay shut until we can get a window person out to either repair it or replace it. Sierra was interested in that new opening. I closed the door and kept her out of the bedroom.

This is my last blog until after Christmas. We hope that you have a very Merry, Healthy, cheerful, fun and blessed Christmas. Fill the season with love, and laughter, family and friends. Don’t forget the reason for the season and the perfect gift God gave each of us.

MERRY CHRISTMAS SEE YOU ALL ON MONDAY!
