Wednesday, February 22, 2023 Mostly sunny, Windy Warm 69 Degrees 4:09 p.m.

HAPPY ASH WEDNESDAY!

A beautiful Wednesday, and a busy Wednesday. It has been a fun day, starting with Sharon coming for coffee in the a.m. What fun to have someone to chat with, and laugh with over morning coffee. We discussed the pros and cons of having a cat or a dog and all the responsibility that goes with it. What ever happened to the days when you had a pet that didn’t require as much care, attention, and expense as a child!

After she left, I did up my few dishes and straightened up the house a bit. Pamela called and asked if I was in the mood for games today. I said yes, come on over. So she and Roxy came. Just as we were starting the game Julie and Rocco came and brought over a antenna for Tina and I to try on our TV’s. She didn’t stay saying she had groceries to unload.

We played a game of Yahtzee and half of another one. We left then to meet her dad at Hardy’s in Oliver Springs for lunch. A great hamburger and fries. After chatting we left. She needed to go to Pet Smart so we went there. I bought two different kinds of cat food to see if Sierra would like either of them. Then to Walgreens where she picked up a few things she needed and I got salad dressings. I noticed that there were several empty shelves there. She said that Kroger’s was picking up all of their stuff so I guess that they are no longer associated with each other. Then home.

Pamela brought Roxy to spend time with me while her dad and Bill loaded a chest of drawers in Bill’s SUV Roxy tends to want to help. So that was accomplished and she came and got Roxy and off to her home they went. We have such good neighbors here. Always ready to help and lend a hand if needed. Friendly, kind, and caring.

Now it is time to think about dinner and the evening. What a busy and fun day. Tina will be home in about 45 minutes. Sierra is napping now but will be at the door to greet her as soon as she hears the car.

Tuesday, February 23, 2023 Sunny Breezy Few high clouds 69 Degrees 3:56 p.m.

A beautiful day here in East Tennessee. I love having the sunshine stream in the living room windows, and Sierra has followed it all day. Now she is snoozing in her tree and the sun has moved away from her favorite spot in the window.

Today was laundry day and I have that all accomplished plus a couple extra little projects. I am always glad when the laundry is washed, dried, folded, hung and totally put away. I do know we change clothes at least once a day.

Al Roker and the crew on the Today Show, yesterday was discussing how often everyone should change their clothes, including their PJ’s. It was fun watching all the faces as each one said that they changed each day, every other day, every third day. That was the PJ’s. . Al thought that was disgusting as didn’t they realize how much a person sweats at night? They all had comments about that including one said that he didn’t stay awake to find out. Hence forth, I am sure that Al doesn’t do the laundry.

Tina and I have been invited out to a pancake supper at one of the churches this evening so am looking forward to that. I do enjoy pancakes, especially when I don’t have to make them. The place and company will be great and I believe it will be a very nice evening. More on that tomorrow.

Quote of the day: “There are so many ways we can follow Jesus’ example and be a servant to others. Sometimes we provide a gift of encouragement simply by doing ordinary work with cheerfulness.” My calendar.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Make it a cheerful, enjoyable, positive, productive and fun day.

Monday, February 20, 2023 Cloudy Showers cold Still 53 Degrees

Winter is still with us. I thought today would be warmer but I was wrong. Maybe tomorrow. The weatherman said that Thursday it will be 77 degrees. We shall see.

The weekend was nice. Tina and I stayed home all day Saturday and got several things accomplished around here. We even had some leisure time for reading and watching a movie. It was a nice day. Yesterday We had a rep from Anderson Windows come out and give us a quote on new windows for here. We would need 8 windows. the cost would be $28,000.00 . We won’t be getting windows very soon at that price. We have another company coming out Friday evening to give us a quote. We shall see what they have to say. Anderson Windows would be great providing we hit the lottery.

After that lady left we packed up dinner and went to Dottie’s. Jerry, Tammy and Dottie were busy shoveling, fertilizer and good dirt all over the front yard. They then spread grass seed and put a straw netting on top of that to keep all in place and the birds out of it . When we got there Tina went out and helped with all of that. Dottie came in and we visited, and played with Finley. Melissa, Tammy’s daughter was there visiting so it was a nice afternoon. After the three “landscapers” came is asking for food, Dottie put dinner on the table with a tiny bit of help from me. We had originally asked them all over here for dinner but then when Jerry asked if we wanted to come and spread grass seed, we packed dinner up and took it over there. Spaghetti, garlic Texas toads, tossed green salad. It was good. We had enough for the whole state I think so there is some in the freezer for another two or four meals, and Dottie kept some. Not enough I am sure. After we got home and put stuff away, we did nothing but watch TV. Bed early

Today I have been lazy, just doing what I had to do and then worked on a couple of my projects. A nice day. Now time to fix dinner. Leftovers. Tina will be delighted.

Friday, February 17, 2023 Cloudy Cold Breeze 38 Degrees 1:56 p.m.

Winter is here, again. I loved the sunshine and so appreciated it while it was here. We are back to winter and it is cold, dark and every so often spitting a flake or two of snow. I know that it is still winter and the groundhog saw his shadow so we have a few more weeks of winter. The difficulty of this is we have the cold temperatures, then it turns warm, up in the 60’s and 70’s, then back in the 20′ s and 30’s. Do we wear furs or short shorts?

Yesterday and last evening and night we had thunder storms and torrents of rain. I stayed off the computer and TV for the most part. Tina got home and turned the news on after we ate. Right away the weatherman was telling us that we were in a sever weather warning with possible tornadoes. And the thunder rolled, the wind blew, and the rain poured down. Radio, TV and phone reception was slow and would freeze every so often. The phone would just drop calls.

I made chicken noodle veggie soup and skillet cornbread for dinner last night, with chocolate pudding. it was good. We will have the rest of it tonight. I am thinking that tomorrow I will make spaghetti, Chili or stew. We haven’t had spaghetti for quite awhile so I think that would be good. With garlic bread and a salad. That sounds like a good meal for a cold day.

I know of nothing going on this weekend. We have enough to do around here to keep us busy and entertained. We might go to the movies, depending on weather and if what we want to see is still playing.

Quote of the day: ” No matter how incongruously our youthful minds fit into our ageing bodies, we can refuse to be old. We can celebrate our youth—-no matter how many decades we’ve been youthful!” My calendar.

Have a great rest of your Friday and a warm, cheerful, productive, energetic, safe, and fun weekend.
