Thursday, August 24, 2023 Hot Mostly Sunny A Short Rain Shower 85 Degrees 5:16 p.m.

A busy day. First was the Arches Foot Care appointment. A pedicure with out all the frills. Prior to leaving for that, Pamela called and asked if I wanted to play games. i said yes, but had an doctor appointment but should be home between 10:00 and 10-:30. I got home, put a couple of things away as we stopped at the store. Tina went to work and i was going to do something when the doorbell rang and there was Charles, wanting to know if I was home. I said yes, just got here. Then Pamela called him and he said she is home. She came, bearing gifts. They took me out to lunch for my birthday (which is next week). We at at Carrabba’s, which is an Italian restaurant. So good. Then I had a birthday bag with some cute things in it. The game, “Wheel of Fortune”, and “Can You Name 5?” Plus a cute Christmas puppy dog. He is so cute and very musical and active. All so nice and very much appreciated. They are good people and good friends. And good neighbors. We are so fortunate to have all good neighbors. So blessed.

That is my excitement for today. Now to get busy around here.

Wednesday, August 23, 2023 Mostly Sunny Breezy Humid Hot 90 degrees 3:33 p.m.

Another hot humid, nice and lazy summer day. I haven’t been lazy though. I am working at emptying the “sewing room” and that is taking some doing. But it is getting done, slowly. Sierra is “helping” me and she isn’t much help, believe me. So everything takes longer.

WE are having a salad for dinner tonight so that won’t take long to fix. No pots and pans. I like that. Lunch was the rest of the taco stew which consisted of almost a half cup. And a cheese stick, broccoli almonds and i orange slice piece of candy.

There really isn’t anything new around here. No birds, no dogs, just sunshine and heat. I guess the birds and the dogs are staying out of the heat. I went out to spray for ants and no ants. Maybe they don’t like the heat either.I did see the squirrel early this morning. He was trying to get in Bill’s bird feeder. He has emptied one of ours. He can’t get in the other one. Winter is coming so he is working on stockpiling food.

Quote of the day: ” Put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long suffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another…But above all of these things put on love,” Colossians 3:12-14

One more news item. the Zoo in Knoxville has a three day old giraffe who has no spots, squares, etc. It is all light brown and so pretty. It is very rarer to have one with not spots.

Have a great rest of your Wednesday. Make it a busy, interesting, positive and fun day.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2023

Tuesday, August 22, 2023 Mostly Sunny, Windy Hot Summer 91 Degrees 4:45 p.m,

Another beautiful Summer day in East Tennessee. I know it is summer because it is hot outside. We should have this heat all the way into Sunday, then cool down to the high 80’s. The humidity is what makes the temperature feel hotter then it really is. I am inside so don’t mind it much at all. I do believe the birds mind it as they are in hiding for most of the day. I did see a big crow or raven this morning, out in the street. I am quite sure that it was a raven as it was very large. He had his eye on something.

Pamela and her husband, Jerry, came over this afternoon and we played Scategories. It was fun. Pamela won, but the game was close between the three of us. After the game we went to Sonic and had a hot fudge Sunday. That was good. A treat on a hot summer’s day.

Nothing else new that I am aware of. Seeing Las Vegas on the news is something else. And the hospital in LA area having to be evacuated because of power failure was shocking. I wonder what happened to their back up generator? I guess everything got a good soaking there and in Las Vegas. Big Bear and that area didn’t fare to well either, from the news. And Mt. Charleston has road damage I understand. That is sad.

I am working on the sewing room and making slow progress. It will be so nice when finished but will take a bit to get it there. Sierra is helping so you know that it will get accomplished at the snail’s pace.

Quote of the day: “It’s not that I’m against exercise. It’s just that when I look at my body I feel it’s already been punished enough!” My Calendar.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Make it exciting, energetic, adventurous and fun.

MONDAY, AUGUST 21, 2023

Monday, August 21, 2023 Mostly Sunny Breezy Hot Humid 91 Degrees 4:40 p.m.

A beautiful weekend here. A bit on the warm side but not bad. We managed to stay home for most of Saturday, but did make a quick trip to Hobby Lobby and Walmart. I was so proud of me as I went in to Hobby Lobby, got exactly what I went in there for and came out. No extras at all. Tina didn’t need anything at Hobby Lobby but she came out with three or four things. She said that one was a Christmas Present. Walmart was no problem as all we got there was a few groceries.

At home we worked on some crafts, did a few project around the house, watched TV and read. it was a nice and relaxing weekend. Of course it is hot outside so Tina is very happy to stay indoors and be a couch potato. We did watch a lot of FOX Weather to see what Hillery was doing to Yuma, Vegas, Reno etc. Today the kids day all is well with them, so hope it stays that way. Yuma had trees uprooted and power poles snapped, lines down and tons of rain. O course, no power to 30, 000 people. I watched all that on the Computer this morning. Reno has power out for over 19, 000 people in just Reno and Sparks. If you include Washoe Valley it is 33,000 people without power. I feel bad for them as well as the people in California. Vegas had damage on the strip as some of the casinos flooded and had major water damage.

Quote of the day: ” The only good thing about the decline of my memory is that it has brought me closer to my mother, for she and I now forget everything at the same time.” Bill Crosby

Have a great, rest of your Monday. Make it a safe, dry, powerful, calm and fun day.

Today has been laundry and that is completed.
