Thursday, January 18, 2024 Cloudy Looks like snow Cold Quiet 32 Degrees 3:45 p.m.

It is looking like it night snow at any moment. The weather report is snow, rain, freezing rain, hail and icy rain starting at 7:00 p.m. tonight through 7:00 p.m tomorrow night. Just as the Turnpike was looking dry, for the most part, and the Pillissippi highway fairly clear and accepting traffic, we will get round #2 and all will get shut down again. And it will drop down to zero and below again. Winter is definitely here. Just think, only 48 more day until Spring.

Tina went to work today. She said that there were only 4 in the office and 4 working from home. They will be playing catch up for a long time after this Winter Break. This is the worst winter storm in this area in 20 years according to the news. Some of the snow is melting and the wind is moving a lot of it around. The birds are helping also as they seem to be enjoying the snow, cold and bird feeders. There is still to much snow for me to get out there and add seeds but also there is still some in two of the feeders. I think they will be fine for another day or two.

Saturday is supposed to be sunny, but cold. I am in hopes that we will get our floors. But, Mark said that they can’t get to the warehouse where the flooring is due to snow, so we shall see. We may have to let it wait another week due to weather but I sure hope not. My patience is wearing very thin.

Time for the quote of the day. I hope to have something more interesting to say tomorrow, besides weather. There is enough bird activity to entertain Sierra. She is loving this.

Quote of the day: “”Hope” is the thing with feathers– That perches in the soul– And sings the tune without the words– And never stops–at all.” Emily Dickerson, 1830 – 1886 American Poet.

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a warm, kind, cheerful, friendly and safe day.

Wednesday, January 17, 2024 Clear Cold Freezing Still 21 Degrees 6:54 p.m.

It has been a beautiful day. Clear blue skies, sun shining brightly, and very, very cold. Everything is covered with inches of snow and ice is covering everything that it can. We had -1 when I got up this morning and we managed to reach a high of 25 degrees. Now the sun has set and the freeze is back. All that managed to melt today will be covered with ice again. That includes freeways. I understand that come next week we will see warmer and nicer weather.

Tina, and a few are going to try and go to work tomorrow, later then normal and hope to be home before things start to freeze again. Another storm is arriving tomorrow evening, complete with snow, possible freezing rain, and bitter freezing weather. It has been quite the lack of work week for so many. Being snowed in because of icy roads, unable to get out of their streets or driveways, etc. so am sure all are looking forward to next week.

I am not sure if we will get our floors this week either as the men who are going to install them haven’t been able to work all week either. So many people are doing without their new floors and carpets. The weather can’t be controlled so this is no fault of the company or their employees. Many businesses have been closed this week, besides the banks and post offices, etc. for Martin Luther King day.

I have been trying to keep busy by going through drawers and boxes, cleaning out and straightening, watching TV and reading. Tina and I have played a game each day, and we are about even on wins and losses. It is fun to play games, especially with Sierra helping. She reminded us of why we don’t put jigsaw puzzles together. i found the “P” from the game Words With Friends, board game. That was on the floor this morning.

Quote of the day: ” The soul is a breath of living spirit, that with excellent sensitivity, permeates the entire body to give life. Just so, the breath of air makes the earth fruitful. Thus the air is the soul of the earth, moistening it, greening it.” Hildegard of Bingen, 1098 *1179, German Nun, Christian poet.

Have a wonderful rest of your Hump day. Make it a warm, safe, cheerful, calm, and fun day.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 16, 2024

Tuesday, January 16. 2024 Mostly Sunny Very Cold Still 24 Degrees 5:16 p.m.

Day two of the winter freeze. It is cold but pretty. It amazes me that the birds don’t seem to mind the cold as they have been out all day, eating and flying around. Our bird feeders are close to being empty but there is so much snow and ice that neither of us dare to go out to fill them. Maybe tomorrow. I know they aren’t hurting for food as they all look fat and healthy.

Tina is hoping to go to work tomorrow. They are calling for colder temperatures tomorrow so maybe if she goes in a bit later. It is nice to know that she isn’t on the roads, nor is her office personnel as they were all told to stay home today I believe. Tomorrow is their choice as so many of them live on hills, or in valleys that require going up a hill. Back road aren’t treated as the main highways and turnpikes are so getting from one’s house to a main highway can be impossible due to deep snow and ice. We have a rather steep driveway so we shall see how that goes.

Dallas and Sarge, the Walters dogs, are enjoying this weather tremendously. The have romped and played, caught snowflakes and sat in a drift, looking so pretty. They are happy. Lacy, and Murphy, nor so much. Finley seemed to enjoy it but not as much as the big two. I know that Max, was not happy at all with having to make a trip out to do his duty. He is a toy poodle and is an elderly gentle-pup. I also know that Rocko didn’t care much for it, but Zion thought it was great. I am sure that Roxie and Buttercup weren’t very happy with all the white, cold, wet stuff covering their yard. All those are tiny dogs, preferring laps to cold wet grass or ground.

Jimmy called today and said that it was 70 in Yuma today. A bit chilly for those people. He said that it has been cooler and windy there. He expects it to see much warmer temperatures come February.

We came up with between 8 and ten inches of snow. Everything is covered and or buried with the white sparkling stuff. It is so pretty and picturesque. I think of the movie, “White Christmas” staring Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney. What a great movie and what beautiful settings and scenery.

Now, I am looking forward to Saturday and the new floors being installed. I will unload toe two closet floors in there on Friday so that there will be nothing in their way. Then, next week we can start moving back in to those two rooms. I need the craft room so I can complete a couple of projects that are gifts for birthdays. Time is ticking. They were going to be Christmas gifts but that didn’t work out very well.

Quote of the day: “Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace. That soul that knows it not, knows no release from little things.” Amelia Earhart , 1897 -1937, American Aviator, Writer.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Make it a productive, exhilarating, adventurous, warm and safe.

Monday, January 15, 2024 Snowing Cold Beautiful Cloudy 28 Degrees 5:40 p.m.

We have about 8 inches of snow. It is so pretty. And it is still snowing. There is very little traffic on the turnpike, and next to none on the street in front of the house. No one is out and about, except the birds. I am amazed that they are out, but I guess they need to visit the bird feeders. I will have to fill them tomorrow.

Tomorrow we are supposed to start the freezing temperatures, down to 9 and then getting up to maybe 20 degrees. No one is going anyplace tomorrow. All schools are closed, a lot of businesses are closed and police are only answering emergency calls and auto crashes. So much snow and so interesting.

The weekend was quiet. WE got the laundry done, picked up necessary things at the grocery store, mailed things at the post office and came home. The cat needed cat food so that meant the grocery store. She does like to eat.

Tina and most of her office didn’t go to work today and won’t tomorrow. The few girls that did go in left a couple hours after getting there and went home. To dangerous on the roads then and now several are closed.

Quote of the day: “I am not afraid. I was born to do this.” Joan of Arc 1412 – 1431. French Patriot and Martyr. ” No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; He’ll never let you be pushed past your limit. He’ll always be there to help you come through it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 My Calendar

Have a great rest of your Monday. Make it a warm, pleasant, cheerful, productive and fun day.
