Wednesday, February 21, 2024 Sunny, Nice, Breezy 65 Degrees 5:07 p.m.

I believe I will start doing my blog in the mornings. Yesterday I was gone all day . Today I have been doing my norm with company popping in every so often, so here it is a bit late again. We. Tina and I have a meeting and dinner to go to this evening so that will take care of this evening.

Yesterday Julie and I went to Bud’s Farmhouse Coffee and enjoyed a great mocha and a bagel along with meeting the ladies from the Channel 10 morning news. They were so pleasant and fun. It was a great time. Tina and I will go back there for breakfast one of these Saturdays.

After that we went to Hobby Lobby and looked around. I was looking for a centerpiece for the coffee table, I got some ideas but didn’t buy anything. We went to Home goods where she found a few things, and I just looked for what I had in mind. Bought nothing. We went to Ross’s and she found a few more things, I found a measuring cup set so bought that. After leaving there we went to her new home.

Her new home is lovely. The kitchen is large, bright, has tons of cupboards and drawers, glass french doors leading out to the deck, a large island and room galore. I loved it. The rest of the house is so nice, cheerful, roomy and pretty. She has a big yard and plenty of room to grow a garden or flowers or whatever she wants. It was so nice to see it and she is so hospitable. Loved the afternoon. Loved seeing her so happy.

Tina picked me up and we came home. That is after she saw the house. She also loved it. Then it was time to get dinner and dishes and all that good stuff.

Monday, February 19, 2024 Sunny Clear Breezy Chilly 53 Degrees 3:18 p.m.

A beautiful winter day. A bit chilly but nice after a cold weekend. Spring is la month away. The robins are out and there are tulips and daffodils blooming. That is a good sign that spring is right around the corner.

We had a quiet but productive weekend. Saturday is was very cold and windy. Rain had been predicted but we didn’t see any of that, just the wind and the cold. I think the high was 39 or 40 degrees. Sunday was mostly sunny but still cold, with a high of 45 degrees. It has been down in the 20s again for the lows and will be so again tomorrow they say. Brrrr!

The house is slowly getting back to normal. Both Tina and I went through a few things and returned some stuff to its original spots. We haven’t hung pictures yet, nor have we found a few of the started craft projects. I can’t imagine where they are packed for safe keeping. Once I am sure I have all the totes and boxes emptied I will start cleaning out drawers and see what I crammed in them. I am so good at doing that. It is kind of like the Post Office, If it fits it ships. In my case, if it fits it sits.

We are now looking for a yard person. We need someone who will get the front flower bed and under the dogwood tree cleaned up and then be willing to come every two weeks or do and keep it that way. We found someone on Neighborhood who I believe will stop by this evening and take a look to see what he will do and charge. It would be nice to have someone that will do that. We have the man who mows the yard, but that is all he does. WE shall see how it goes.

Thursday, February 15, 2024 Partly Cloudy Windy cool to warm 66 Degrees 5:02 p.m.

The weather thing on the computer says that the current temperature is near record setting. The wind makes it coolish but it is nice. Much better then the zero temps we had last month. It was cold this morning, about 30 degrees. There was ice on the birdbath, It melted as soon as the sun came up.

It has been a quiet day around here. Across the turnpike crews have been working on the electric thing. i don’t know what it is called as it looks a bit different then the usual things one sees around. This town is busy replacing old water pipes as they had quite a few break during the cold weather. And the pot holes are getting filled in and patched all over East Tennessee. I guess it takes a week or so of freezing snowy weather to brig out all the repair and replace crews.

There are those who are strongly complaining about their electric and water bills. They are a bit high, but most people wanted to stay warm so didn’t turn their thermostats down as it was very cold so they turned them up to 75 or higher. They were warm. Now the being warm and cozy has cost them. Ours was higher but we kept ours at 68 and wore sweaters and sat with throws when watching TV. Not to bad. We left the water dripping in the back bathroom, warm water, so we didn’t have any broke pipes. Yes, the water bill was higher then normal but not by much. Also, we are not on the end of these four town homes so that probably helped also. We did loose an azalea bush to the cold. The holly bush looks great but the rest don’t look to good. Spring is nearly here and we shall see what to do then.

That is about all the news from around here today. The police Sargent that was murdered last Thursday was laid to rest yesterday afternoon. The man who killed him was arrested Tuesday afternoon and is behind bars. He was due in court this morning but I haven’t watched the news to see how that turned out. his brother is behind bars also with a million dollar bond. He will stay there I believe. The man who killed the Sargent doesn’t get bond. His girlfriend is out on bail. hers was $6600.00 I believe. So glad they are where they belong. The killer was on the ten most wanted list. He was found in a vacant home in east Knoxville.

Wednesday, February 14, 2024 Sunny, Cool, Breezy 60 Degrees 4:10 p.m.

A beautiful day, sunny, cheery, a bit breezy and great to be outdoors enjoying the fresh air. The sky is so blue without a cloud in sight. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY TO ALL!

Yesterday was nice. Dottie and I spend the day just visiting and relaxing. She was having a washing machine problem so had called a repairman to come and fix it. He was so nice, did a great job in a short period of time. The part he had to replace had to do with “telling the water temperature, which temperature to go to which hose. Very interesting. He explained what that part did, and why there was this copper thing on the inside of the wall of the machine, it keeps the running of the machine from interfering with the TV or other electronics in the home.

He told us that if we have true stainless steel appliances we should wipe them down with baby oil. They will stay shiny and fingerprint free until the oil wears off, at least a few months. He told how to care for the glass top electric stove that is so popular back here, to use a plastic putty knife if something gets spilled on it and sticks. Just all kinds of hints to keep the appliances clean and in working order. i have his car just in case we ever have the need of a repairman for our appliances.

AT 8:00 p.m. Jerry, Tammy, Dottie, Tina and I met at Cheddar’s to celebrate Jerry’s birthday. We had a nice dinner and he received his cards and gifts. I enjoyed making his gift and card as while going through a box I found a letter that he wrote my mom, telling her that he liked the shirt she gave him but he really wanted a tennis racket and the game Risk so he could play with his friend, Jason. Jason got a tennis racket for Christmas but didn’t have anyone to play tennis with. Jerry knew that his Mom probably wouldn’t get that for him. It was a good letter that he typed on my old typewriter. There was a bit more to it and I probably didn’t get all the wording correct, but that letter was in the center of his card. I gave him a tennis racket, tennis balls and the game Risk. I was so sorry he had to wait so many years for what he asked for, but I sure enjoyed getting them for him now.

Dinner was great. Food was good as was the service. The waitress gave Jerry a ice cream Sunday for his birthday. He had chicken pot pie for the main course, Tammy had salmon, Dottie and Tina had steak and I had ribs. All very good. The best part was the good company. Oh, yes, we sang Happy Birthday to him.

Today everyone is re-leaved to know that the man hunt for the man who killed one deputy and injured another has been caught and is behind bars. He was captured yesterday afternoon. The deputy’s funeral was this afternoon. To many shootings.

Have a beautiful rest of your Wednesday. Make it a productive, positive, enjoyable and fun day.
