Friday, May 31, 2024 Mostly Cloudy Breezy Warm 69 Degrees 12:37 p.m.

A quiet day in our neighborhood. The normal people have been out for their daily walks, haven’t see a dog at all, but then, I have been busy in the kitchen and not at my desk. There are a few birds out and about, and the FED X truck has been by a couple of times. That is all the excitement.

When Tina got home from work yesterday evening, she suggested we go to COSCO. She had mentioned it earlier so I assumed that we were going, so was ready. I had talked to Dottie and asked if she needed anything from there an she said yes and gave me a short list. So when Tina drove in the driveway I was out there waiting for her. We stopped at Dottie’s and picked up her list, then off we went. it was more crowded then we thought it would be, but still not too bad. We got what we needed and checked out and left. It took about 45 minutes which isn’t bad for COSCO. We only got the groceries and paper goods that were needed, not the looking and “I think I can use or want or need that” which can make the trip two hours or more.

After leaving there we went to Olive Garden and had dinner, half of which we brought home. There food is always so good and service is great. There were large parties waiting for tables but since it was just the two of us we got seated right away.

Leaving there we went to Dottie’s and gave her her groceries. She came out and wore a mask so not really any close contact. I sure will be glad when she gets over all this stuff and is back to normal, what ever that is. Max, her dog, is enjoying all the lap time as she doesn’t have energy to do much else. She is supposed to rest so that is good. It keeps her booted foot up and that is another plus.

We arrived home and put our the stuff away and sat in the recliner for about 45 minutes, watched TV and petted Sierra, who was a bit miffed since dinner was late. She got happy after eating and some lap time.

While in Kroger’s the other day a lady came up to me, gently tapped me on the shoulder and said, ” Great!” I turned around and looked at her and said, “Pardon me?” She said “Great!”. I guess I looked ignorant as she pointed to my head and said,”GREAT HAIR CUT!”. She smiled and walked away. I said, “Thanks.” Am not sure she heard me or not. My adventures at the grocery store.

Have a wonderful last day of May. Enjoy June 1, and the weekend. Make all a safe, adventurous, exciting, enjoyable and fun time.

Thursday, May 30, 2024 Sunny Slight breeze Warm Nice 68 Degrees 11:02 a.m.

Another beautiful day in East Tennessee. Sunny, cool, pretty. The birds are out and enjoying the glorious weather. There is one out back that is so loud that it seems it is right in the house, sitting on your shoulder. I have no idea what kind of bird it is, or what it looks like. I certainly can tell he or she has great vocal cords. I am not complaining as it is wonderful to hear the birds chirping, chattering, cooing and singing.

I am so thankful for this beautiful weather and hope that it will last until the air conditioner gets installed next week. The weather person said that we should have warmer temperatures by the weekend, and that the possibility of rain should return by Saturday or Sunday. The house stays fairly cool and if the humidity isn’t to much, it is rather nice. Last night it got a bit chilly. Tin got up and turned her ceiling fan down, I thought about getting up and turning mine off, but then decided I was warm under the covers so would see about it later. It is still going.

School is out here so no more school buses for awhile I believe. Maybe if there is summer school and they run the bus. That I don’t know. So far I haven’t seen any kids around here outside playing or bike riding,, etc. I know that the third and forth graders had problems with their TAP tests and some will have to do summer school or have a tutor to get them up to par. A lot of parents are not happy about that as some students who are straight “A” and “B” student flunked the test. The parents and some of the teachers said that the test didn’t make sense, was poorly written, put together and not acceptable. I am thinking there will be some major discussions over this issue. Thankful my children are grown and I don’t have to worry about that problem.

Today I am cleaning out my desk and doing a pile of shredding as I tend to stick things in the drawers when someone is coming over and I want it to look neat and nice. So all the adds, political junk and odds and ends note will be shredded and or thrown. Once that is done I will write my stories, then get ready to go to COSCO this evening. It is best to make a trip there on Thursday evening rather then on Friday or the weekend. Easier to find a parking spot and less crowded. I will let you know how that works tomorrow.

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a cheerful, positive, productive, kind and fun day.

Wednesday, May 29, 2024 Sunny Clear Still Beautiful Warm 62 Degrees 8:24 a.m.

My blogs will be done in the mornings for awhile. We have no air conditioning, and won’t have until next week. Here, in the living room, it is very nice in the mornings, so will do by blog then. The afternoons and evenings get warm so will be in the back, the TV room where it stays fairly cool. Upstairs gets warm in the late mornings and afternoons, but once the sun goes down it cools down nicely and makes good sleeping. At the moment we have no humidity and that makes it even better.

The Memorial Day weekend turned out quite different then previously thought. Tina fell at work Friday, and that wasn’t in the plans. The boss send her by ambulance to the hospital to be checked out. She bruised her knee, shoulder, arm and chest. Nothing broken, thank God. Saturday she was sore and barely starting to turn the beautiful colors associated with a bruise.

Meanwhile, at the home of Dottie, she had a terrible sore throat, so finally called her daughter and asked her to take her to quick care. The doctor there gave her the covid test and it came back positive. That wasn’t in her plans either. They didn’t give her the covid medicine as they say the after effects are worse then covid. She got pain pills and is gargling with warm salt water. And she it is rest. She still has the boot on her foot, and is supposed go to the orthopedic doctor today and hopefully get the boot off. I doubt that she will go today.

AT the Walters household, Tammy had a scratchy throat, so was gargling with warm salt water and working at keeping up with the five furry family members. Jerry was working on the back yard and the furry family members. The plan was to pup a walkway around the above ground pool. I suggested adding steps so that the dogs could get up their easier as I am sure they would enjoy a cooling dip in the pool on these warm summer days.

Saturday it rained and thundered on and off all day and night. A great day to stay home and enjoy a good book, a cold drink and the cat in the lap. But we got to thinking that maybe we should get groceries as the weather report was saying these storms were going to continue for awhile. And, power outages were quite possible. After that we enjoyed the TV, reading and the cat in the lap.

Sunday was sunny to start. We went to church, then decided that the stores weer probably cooler then the house, so we went to Old Navy as some lady at church had a pair of slacks that Tina liked and wanted to see if they still had them on sale. Then to Home Goods as Tina wanted a new desk chair. They had some but not really what she was looking for. Then to Ross. There she found the chair she wanted so she bought it. Got it home and it fit me just perfect as it was raised up high and I can sit in it and be comfortable typing at my desk. So she went back and got another one for her.

Monday, with the same idea that stores are cooler then the house, we went to Knoxville and to Joann’s. She didn’t find what she was looking for, but I got a large sheet of card stock that I was looking for. The next stop was the Christian Book Store as she was looking for a spiral bible that she had seen at church. (a lady had one), She didn’t find anything there. I found a four way pen. Next was Vera Bradley’s for a lunch pail that closed. there she found what she was looking for. I wasn’t looking and walked out if there with nothing. It was a great day! We got home just before the thunderstorm hit!

Yesterday I did the laundry and was trying hard to get it done prior to the heat arriving. I spent most of the day in the TV room as it was the coolest room. Julie came over with her two dogs, Rocko an Zion. They are so cut and fun. It was fun to see them and to visit. I do miss her being next door. But she loves her new home and they are doing well over there. I came in here to do the blog and decided that the mornings would be the new time.

We hope that you had a wonderful, safe, and healthy Memorial day weekend. And hope that the rest of your day is filled w kindness, cheerfulness, productivity and fun.

FRIDAY, MAY 24, 2024

Friday, May 24, 2024 Sunny High clouds Breezy 80 Degrees 3:16 p.m.

The Memorial Day Weekend is here. Remember why we celebrate this important holiday. It is not just the unofficial beginning of summer, but the remembrance of all the many military personnel who gave their lives so that we can enjoy the beauty and freedoms of the United States of America.

The air ports are jammed with people trying to “get away from it all”. The freeways are full of cars, pickups, and trucks, campers and mini vans, all with people “getting away from it all”. Here, I doubt we will be getting “away from it all”.

We have been in Tennessee 5 years this weekend. And, we bought this town house four years ago this weekend. Time sure flies when one is having fun! The weekend is to be fairly nice with the chance of Thunderstorms most every day. So far, today has been great…..at least no rain or thunder since we got up. The roofs were all wet when we got up, and it was raining hard when we went to bed. Even Sierra didn’t want to sit in the window. I think she was a bit scared of the hard rain. Now it is just muggy.

There are all sorts of activities going on in East Tennessee this weekend. I believe that we will be staying close to the house and out of the hustle and bustle. If we go anyplace it will be to visit the dogs. Dallas became an “IT” yesterday so is not feeling up to par today. She needs to be petted and pampered. I am sure it will take her a few days to be wanting to romp and play, and she is so laid back anyway that she will eat up all the extra attention that she is “demanding”. She is well worth it all. Sarge wants to be right with her and they are keeping him away. The other three are not to interested i believe. Murphy might be as he is the guard for all the furry family, so probably checks on her occasionally. Sierra should send her flowers!

Quote of the day: “Success can make you go one of two ways. It can make you a prima donna – or it can smooth the edges, take away the insecurities, let the nice things come out.” Barbara Walters, 1929 -2022 American Broadcast Journalist.

Have a wonderful rest of your Friday, and a super, adventurous, enjoyable, social, safe, healthy, and fun Memorial Day Weekend.
