Mostly cloudy, Breezy, Some rumbles of thunder, No rain, 83 Degrees 5:11 p.m.

A busy day and I am running late. Julie picked me up and we went and did the early voting. It is hard as we live in Roan County but everything is Anderson County, until the voting. We voted but only knew two of the people running. We think that maybe we should get acquainted with the Roan County elected officers so we know who is who. Maybe we will do better next time.

Was on the phone a lot today and also had company. That was so fun and enjoyable. Julie brought her two dogs, Zion and Rocko over. I do miss them being next door and running over. but they are so happy with their new house and yard. All dogs need a yard I think. Julie is looking good, more relaxed and enjoying their new home. She is very busy with that and her rentals. Fun seeing and visiting with her.

I got one cupboard shelf cleaned today. I was looking for some small bowls with lids that I had bought, and I couldn’t find them. Finally, after taking everything out, they wee under other bowls. Now the cupboard is neat, clean and everything where it can be found. Now, how many more to go? A long term project.

MONDAY, JULY 15, 2024

A lazy Monday for me. It is hot but breezy, with clouds floating here and there. I am hoping for rain, at least a couple of showers to give the thirsty grass, trees and shrubs a drink. It is very sad to see the pretty green turning brown. they are saying rain Wednesday and the rest of the week. Showers, that is. We shall see. It is now 3:12 p.m. and 93 Degrees with 79% humidity. The humidity makes it muggy and feels hotter.

The weekend flew buy. Saturday was miserable, heat and humidity wise. Tina and I went to Jackson Square for breakfast, then to Walmart for what few groceries we needed. Sierra needed cat food, we needed bread and milk. Of course we got a few more things, like a cantaloupe and tomatoes, etc. then came home. The rest of the day was spent in the recliners, napping and sort of watching TV. The heat and humidity got us both, and we weren’t out in it very long. Walmart was quite warm so am not sure if they just had the cooling turned down or if it wasn’t working, but even the employees weren’t to happy, “saying it sure is warm!”

Yesterday was church, back to Walmart for the milk that we forgot, and then home. We accomplished a lot more yesterday then we did Saturday. Got the garbage gathered and out on the curb for the garbageman this morning. Showers and dressed, beds made, the TV room straightened and things put away that we didn’t do Saturday, like sunglasses and purses, shoes, etc.

Jerry and Tammy came over in the afternoon and finished putting Tina’s desk together. It looks very nice and neat now. That was defiantly needed. We both appreciate them coming over and finishing the desk. They have worked so hard on their home replacing carpets with flooring and panting the dining room and living room. They are very talented and extremely ambitious. I know the place looks very pretty and comfortable.

FRIDAY, JULY 12, 2024

A mostly sunny hot day. But the humidity is just 60 % and that isn’t bad. It is 3:45 p.m. and the temperature is 94 degrees. We do need rain, but maybe next week.

All the grass is turning brown and the leaves are drooping, so that is not a good thing. The weatherman said that next week we should get rain. Some places along the east coast are flooding and that isn’t good either. As they say, feast or famine. Enjoy today because we don’t know what tomorrow will bring. I do know that God is in charge and His will will be done.

The grilled chicken turned out very nice and was tasty and not dry. Tonight we are having chicken fried rice, (from Trader Joe’s) so an easy meal tonight. I will throw in a salad. We have cookies, ice cream or watermelon for desert.

Around here it has been quiet. I haven’t seen the mailman yesterday or so far today. Tina stopped for the mail yesterday and there was none. We shall see if there is any in the box tonight. He comes at different hours or not at all, so one never knows. The mail is defiantly not dependable.

We are planning on a “stay home” weekend. there are a few things that need attention and we both have crafts started that need to be worked on. So we shall see how that goes. Even one day is a big help. Sunday is church so I know that we will go there. A trip to Walmart will be needed and possibly Hobby Lobby. We shall see.

A beautiful Summer day, warm but low humidity. Right now it is 89 Degrees and the time is 5:04 p.m. There is a slight breeze which makes it feel not so hot. Things change again tomorrow, back to the 90’s and humidity up. So goes life this summer. Son Jeff said that it is 108 to 110 in Reno and that is a heat wave for them.

The grilled salmon that I fixed for dinner last night turned out good. I was so pleased as cooking salmon and having it come out tasty is a bit of a challenge for me. We had that with asparagus also cooked on the grill. Ii do like this Ninja indoor grill. Tonight it is chicken and a salad.

Crafts last night went well. There was only three of us as four of the ladies had Bunco at the American Legion. We discussed the blankets and the hat and scarf projects. The scarfs and hats go to the Vets and to the homeless once winter sets in. The smaller hats go to the hospital for the babies. Those hats are so cute. The pastor will read the letter to the congregation on Sunday, telling about the tie blanket project and what the reason is for it, which is the Children’s hospital in Knoxville. He will tell what is needed and that any and everyone is invited to join in, by buying the blanket kits, by donating money to buy the blanket kits or by helping to tie the blankets. Also to wash ad dry them once they are made. Anyone is welcome to come and do all the needed parts or even a couple of them. So we shall see. I think it will be good and we will meet our goal.

Not much else going on today. For me it was laundry day. Wanted to get it done before it get hot again tomorrow. No rain in sight.
