Today we are one week into Summer, and one week away from the 4th of July. We have had one week of 90 plus temperatures, humidity, and scattered thunderstorms, Flowers are blooming, everything is green and pretty. Mosquitoes are buzzing around as are the wasps, gnats and flies. The fleas and ticks are out hunting for fresh blood from the animals, and humans if they can manage any that don’t wear OFF!

But summer also brings out the swimming pools, beach towels, swim suits and sun screen. Flip Flops are the shoes of choice, and shorts and sleeveless tops the fashion of the season. Leisurely walks with the dog on the end of the leash, wanting to make the walk a lot less leisurely.

It is the time for soft ball, socker, golf, tennis, and pickle ball in the park. Trips to the zoo and the amusement parks are always fun, and exciting. Adventures to special places such as The Ark and Creation Museum, or The Builtmore make great learning as well as entertaining trips. The history and the beauty of each is spectacular. Maybe a trip to Graceland to see where Elvis Presley called home would also be a look into the music world. Speaking of music, a trip to Nashville, to The Grand Ole Opery and the Country Music Museum would be fantastic; So much to see and do all over Tennessee and Kentucky.

It is picnic season and grilling season. Fried chicken, potato salad, cold cuts, ribs, and baked beans. pickles, olives, salsa, and radishes. Ice cream and cookies, cake and pie. All sorts of good foods to cook up and enjoy outside at the picnic table or a blanket on the grass, under a big shade tree. Don’t forget the pitchers of ice tea..Southern sweet, or just with a fresh slice of lemon.

Time to get back to this Friday and what is going on now. Dinner this evening will be salmon, angle hair pasta and a veggie. ice cream bar for desert. Not bad for a Friday evening supper.

Wah’s House Hold Hints; You cannot live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you. The joy comes from knowing you are able to do that something for someone.

Have a Fantastic Friday, and weekend. Make it cheerful, adventurous, productive and fun.

Very Cloudy, slight breeze, 91 degrees, Heat Advisory, and chance of Thunder Storms. A summer day in East Tennessee. I just came in and I can vouch for the total report plus it is very humid. I would say almost soupy. In here it is cool and comfortable, so indoors is the place to be.

the news is saying that we all need to go out and buy gold. the current price of gold is way out of my budget. Google says that it is #3,330.00 per ounce. I can’t see anyone on a working wage running to buy gold at the moment. They were saying that the world is working on making one currency for all, and that currency will be gold. I guess Musk should hurry up ad get those rockets to Mars up and running as that may be where people will go homestead.

As I said I just got in. I went to PT, then to Kroger’s and filled up with gas and then bought a few groceries. I really didn’t need much but thought it better to go while I was out then to go Saturday when half of Tennessee will be there buying for the coming week, the weekend and what ever. Also we want to put a fancy filmy thing called Artscape, on the front storm door and hope that it will keep the birds from hitting it. One hit it so hard Monday that it killed him. That isn’t good. We like the door open as it lets in much needed light. But, you can see straight through the house to the back storm door, and looking across the Turnpike to the trees and shrubs. We think that the birds think they can fly through to that.

Last evening our neighbor brought over a big bunch of apples that they got from her mother’s place. We will have apples for awhile, for sure. I know that I will make applesauce, and maybe so tart things that Sandy Palmer use to make. They are good and easy. The apples are goo and sweet. I had one with breakfast.

Wah’s House Hold Hints: Parsley plants grown among roses will keep beetles away. A small amount of salt or tobacco sprinkled in the rows when you plant the garden will keep cut worms out.”

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a gratifying, productive, happy and fun day.

It has been ten days since I have done the blog. Most of that time was because the blog wasn’t working, Jerry got over here and got it up and running again. I hope that it stays up and going. This week has been busy so haven’t been able to get at the computer much. The heat doesn’t help either.

Summer arrived last Friday with a Bang! We went from 70’s and 80’s to the 90’s and 100’s over night. It is hard to adjust when it is such a sudden change. Right now it is 89 Degrees at 12:53 p.m. and the high should be 95 degrees with the heat index at 107 degrees. That is what it should feel like.

I am doing physical therapy twice a week, on Monday and Thursday last week and this week. It is at 1:00 p.m., so with the heat at 95 degrees and the humidity at about the same. When I get home I just find the ice water and the recliner and am done for the day.

Yesterday we had the plumber here in the morning. He replaced the wax ring under the toilet in the guest room, and fixed the drain in there. We need to get a new faucet for there one day soon. Then replace the flow valve in the back bathroom toilet. And calked around three toilets in the house. The upstairs hall bathroom is fine as we had it totally remodeled four years ago. He and his partner were very good, professional, neat and pleasant. And not overly expensive.

Our front flower garden is looking so nice. The flowers are blooming and make the place looks very cheerful. The squirrels (3) are very busy hunting the birdseed that the birds kindly drop for the, The chipmunk is also very busy going back and forth from west to east, but haven’t figured out just where he comes from or where he goes. He is the speedy one. He, too, will stop and grab a few bird-seeds as a break with his rushing back and forth. The birds are plentiful and busy. We have several different kinds that visit our feeders. So Pretty and so much fun to watch.

Wah’s House Hold Hints”; Plant a few Castor Beans around the house to keep down flies and mosquitoes. Castor Beans planted with cucumbers or cantaloupe will keep insects down.”

Have a great rest of your “Hump Day”. Make it a cool, cheerful, relaxing and fun summer day.

Another cloudy showery day in Oak Ridge. We have only had sprinkles so far but it is “early” still. there is a breeze. The temperature is 82 degrees, the time is 3:57 p.m., and it is very muggy outside. Cool inside. I have the temp set at 74degrees in here as the downstairs get very chilly while the upstairs is “cozy”. We turn the temp down to 69 about an hour before we go up to bed. It seems to work well so far.

I started P.T. this afternoon and so far so good. I will go twice a week for four to six weeks, just to get strength back in my right leg and also my back. I sure need this as I already feel where the sore, weak spots are. I do believe he found them all.

The weekend was good, more or less quiet, rainy on and off, but good. Saturday we went to the woman’s Brunch at church. It was fun. The food was very good, and the ladies better. We played BINGO in a different way. We had to find different ladies who were able or did what was mentioned in each square. that took some doing but I think most of us were able to get enough al tho one one got BINGO. The hardest was finding someone who was born in Tennessee. The funny part of that was the preacher’s wife was sitting at one of the tables, she was born and raised here, and it took forever for someone to remember that, and ask her. Many of the ladies have lived here many years, 40, 50 or more, but were born in another state. It was a fun morning.

In the afternoon we went to Jerry and Tammy’s to deliver a baby blanket for Dottie who need one as a gift, but wasn’t home as she had to take her car to be fixed. also a Father’s Day card for Jerry from the dogs. We visited for a while, then took off to Penny’s as Tina needed to stop there. We shopped a bit. I got some Capri’s as I have shrunk enough to wear a size smaller. After Penny’s we went to Publix’s for groceries. WE both enjoy shopping there as the produce is so fresh and nice as is everything else. On some things it is a bit higher but not much and the quality is better. A lot of the prices are the same as Kroger’s or Walmart.

Sunday was church and home. We started putting together the plant stand but didn’t get to far. It is a bit complicates as it is hard to get the screws in some of the holes. I will keep working on it and hope to get it together soon so that I can get the plant down and on it. I am sure it will be happier. It is now on the top tier of the cat tree. It does look goofy up there. It outgrew the windowsill.

Wah’s House Hold Hints: Today is a prayer from her “bits and pieces” clipped pile. “THAN YOU LORD for all your blessings on our family; for the food on our table; for the roof over our heads; for the shoes on our feet. Thank you Lord for all your blessings on us. Amen!”

Have a great rest of your Monday. Make it a cheerful, productive, meaningful, adventurous and fun day.
