We have enjoyed a beautiful sunny day until about five minutes ago. Now the thunder roars, the clouds are looking threatening, and I do believe we might get a good downpour. I know that we probably won’t flood as much of Chattanooga did yesterday so am not concerned about that, but there are so many who are where the creek, river stream, etc. can easily flood if they get much more rain. these summer storms can be brutal.

The dinner at church last night was fun. It was mostly for the kids but there was a section for the adults to sit and enjoy the hot dogs, chili, chips, veggie plate, and cotton candy, slushes, and pop corn. They had face painting, games and for one group there was Bible Study. Tina went to the bible study as she can’t go during the day so this evening one is perfect. We were home by 8:00 p.m. having had a very nice evening. And very thankful that it didn’t rain.

Today ha been quiet. I have vacuumed and dusted, kept the cat busy having to change rooms to keep away from the vacuum. She needed the exercise. Me, too. I use the dust mop most every day but at least once a week I need to vacuum and pick up all the dust bunnies and fur that the dust mot misses. Even though we have grass, trees, flowers and pavement all around we still have dust. I think that when the wind blows in Nevada, the dust finds its way here, just to make sure we remember it.

Another rainy day all over Tennessee. It rained last night sometime, and then was just cloudy and dreary for the first part of the morning. Then the rain arrived and we had two or three really heavy downpours. We are in a flood warning until 8:00 p.m. Right now the sun is trying to peek out but isn’t having to much luck so far. We have a temperature of 77 degrees at 3:23 p.m. The humidity is way up there someplace and it is muggy outside.

This evening there is a end of summer program at church. It is dinner and a bunch of activities, mostly for the kids. We signed up to go, but if it is raining we will be a “no show”. We might have crafts and Tina’s bible study group might start this evening. I doubt it for both but will find out when we get there

I doubt that it will be raining as the news said that the rain was moving towards the Carolina’s. We shall see. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. so there is still time for another shower or two. The clouds are lighter and the sun is still trying hard to peek out. the grass is green and growing as are the weeds. One can almost watch both the grass and the weeds grow! WE now have a slight breeze.

I ordered a book, The Ageless Brain for Seniors. Tina looked at it and said that all it did was tell what we already know. I, so far, have found exercises that I can do and that should help me with walking and balance. Also, it mentions avocados as a great health food. I can do that easily as Avocado Toast is a great breakfast, accompany it with an egg. That is as far as I have gotten with this book, but so far, I think it is a good addition to our library.

Today I cleaned both cat carriers. Sierra upchucked a fur ball in the one she usually uses, so I thought tht I would go out to the shed and bring in the other one. It had been in the shed for a couple of years and it was dusty and dirty and yucky so I scrubbed it, threw the liner in the wash, both liners, and then scrubbed the one she uses. Now they are both clean and ready to use. She is in the one I brought in from the shed. I will put the other one, folded, in the closet for future use.

Have a great rest of your Wednesday. make it a super productive, cheerful and fun day.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 12, 2025

Nearly the middle of the month and I honestly don’t know where the time goes. I do manage to keep busy, which is a good thing, but find that I get behind at times.

We had a good rain this morning and again this afternoon. It is looking like we might get another thunderstorm soon. I hear the thunder. The time is 4:43 p.m. and the temperature is 85 degrees. We might reach 90 before the day is done, but I think we are at the high right now.

The weekend was good. Tina was on call so didn’t go to far nor do to much. We did go into Knoxville and pick up our new glasses. We just went in , did that , and came right back home. For dinner we stopped at KFC and picked up a 8 piece dinner. It was lousy! We won’t be going back to the KFC here in oak Ridge again. the chicken was a mess, looked either over cooked or not good. We ate it Saturday night, then Sunday Tina had a piece and got sick. I threw the rest. We couldn’t tell which piece was what and it was just thrown in the box without being cut or something. Plenty of breading though.

Sunday was church and the pastor is a guest and was very good. He is the pastor at the Milestone church in Morgan County, Tennessee. I think that is Wartburg, but am not sure., I still don’t really know where is what in this state.

That was the excitement of the weekend. Yesterday I did the laundry. Sharon came over and we visited. She is so good in knowledge of plants so we discussed the Christmas Cactus and the Hydrangea out front that is doing so well. We have to finish cutting back the one vine that is out there as it is finished for the year. It will comeback, she says. She said that she is having shoulder surgery the end of October. Hers will be a replacement. My heart goes out to her as I understand that is a painful operation. At least the recovery is a bit long but should be good once she is healed.

The thunder is thundering and I think I saw a flash of lightening. so I am going on to Wah’s House Hold Hints before the storm hits. One never knows when the power is going to leave us.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 8, 2025

A breezy, warm, sunny and quiet Friday Afternoon . I do have to say that the Turnpike is rather busy. Of course it is time for people to get off work, and it’s Friday so people are heading out for the weekend. the temperature is about 86, and no rain in sight, so it should be a beautiful weekend for all.

Tina just called and said she would be home about 5:30 p.m. and She is on call all weekend. I have a feeling she will be working all weekend. It usually works out that way. Since we have no plans she will not mind the overtime on her check.

We are having pork chops and rice with veggies for dinner. She called just before I was going to put the pork chops on to bake. This is the hard part of Tina’s job as I never know when she will be home so dinner gets either late or cold. I do appreciate the microwave. When she is on time we have dinner and the kitchen cleaned up by 6:00 p.m., in time for the evening news. That I do appreciate….The kitchen being cleaned up by 6:00 that is.

Wah’s House Hold Hints: ” Always grease a pie pan before putting in pie shell. Your shell will never stick to the plate.” This one came from Wah’s “Kitchen Secrets of the Daughters of Norway cook book. It is quite a source for some yummy looking recipes.

Have a great rest of your Friday and a wonderful, safe and fun Weekend.
