Good morning! A beautiful, sunny, cheerful August Thursday morning here in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. There is a breeze, and a few clouds around, announcing the possibility of a shower or two maybe, later on in the day. All in all, very nice. The temperature is 76 degrees and the humidity isn’t bad at the moment.

It has been a busy week. Monday I couldn’t get this program to come up. I tried several times, then gave up and thought I would try again on Tuesday. Tuesday Tina and I were in town all day with doctor appointments. Wednesday Tina had a doctor appointment and by the time we got home it was time to just crash! We did manage to go to Publix’s and get a few groceries that we like to get there. Today she is back at work and I am home trying to catch up with all I didn’t do the past two days.

Tuesday, the first doctor appointments were at the eye doctor, Dr. Carlton. I do like their eye examinations as they have all the up to date equipment and they don’t have to dilate my eyes. I came out with a good test and even though I needed to change my glasses for crisper vision as far as distance is concern, there was no signs of glaucoma for which I am very thankful for. My left eye is very good and my right eye is good. That is the one that I had the surgery on. I will have new glasses in a couple of weeks and that will be great. Tina also got a good report and will have her new glasses about the same time. Of course her eyes are different then mine but she is doing well and not having to go to the retna specialist for awhile. She is very thankful for that.

After leaving there we went to World Market and browsed around for a bit as we didn’t have time to go do anything like eat lunch, etc. That was to Doctor Hira. We left there happy as no new meds and I got rid of one. Then we called Dottie and met her for lunch

Lunch was at Cracker Barrell. That is located the closest to Doctor Hira’s office, and Tina was about to fade away from hunger. Dottie met us and we went in to eat. Tina had Country Fried Steak, mashed potatoes, and gravy. I had the Campfire meal, chicken. Dottie, of course, had a hamburger. None of the three of us like eating there, and I am sure we could of found a close place other than that. Even the Mexican restaurant which isn’t that much farther would of been much better. However we ate there. I was curious as to what my choice would consist of and how it would be served. It was served on a plate, with a blue and white paper, checked napkin under it, and the whole meal placed on the napkin still wrapped tightly in aluminum foil. It took a bit to unwrap enough of the foil to see the food. Once I found the food it wasn’t bad. Very well done as the chicken was falling off the bone. The carrots were wonderful, the potatoes great, the corn hard to eat as one couldn’t just pick it up and eat it off the cob as it was extremely hot. Nor could I cut it off the cob. So I brought what I didn’t eat home, wrapped in foil and in an TO GO plastic box. I will tackle that project today.

Yesterday Tina went to the surgeon concerning her back. He said that before surgery he wanted to do shots so she goes for her first shot on the 18th. He said there was a lot of arthritics in her back and a few more things that need attention. Because of insurance he has to start with the shots to see if they help. I hope that they do and that she can avoid surgery. Time will tell on that sore. We stopped at Chili’s and had lunch, a cheeseburger. It was so very good. We have to take Dottie there for that. She is the Hamburger queen. From there we sent to Public’s and got a few groceries. We like their eggs as they seem to be the freshest from any of the stores in Oak Ridge.

Now it is Thursday and I am playing “catch-up”. My next project is to return a couple of phone calls, then pick up and put away. Sierra is in her carrying case as we want to take her to the Vet on Saturday. She thinks that is the greatest place for a nap now so goes in it and spends hours. I hope that she does that on Saturday morning. It is time for her shots and a wellness check. Tina wants her shaved but I am not so sure about that because of her age and because they would have to sedate her. I have been on the computer and she hasn’t come in to bug me.

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a cheerful, adventurous, productive and fun day,

FRIDAY, AUGUST 1, 2025

Sunny, breezy, temperature of 84 degrees at 2:05 p.m. We had a good downpour complete with thunder and lightening yesterday so things are still well soaked. Today looks rain-free so far. I am so thankful that we got the rains the past four days, maybe more, as the grass it starting to look green again. Just a few brown spots. I think we will have to do some replanting of the lawn after a bit, but right now, it is good. I was pleased to see that the heavy downpour didn’t harm the flowers.

Today has been a quiet day. I have done a lot of small jobs that I kept putting off. I have halfway filled the shredder so that is a big accomplishment. This afternoon, when Tina gets home from work we are going to run errands and grab a bite to eat. Tomorrow we plan on staying home, but that seldom holds true. Sunday is church and then it is Monday. The weekend goes fast.

I can’t believe how quiet it is out here today. No lawn mowers going, no one walking, no action at all. I guess the dogs got walked early this morning so maybe will see them later on this evening. But the birds are napping as is the squirrels and the chipmunk. I believe the up coming days will be a bit cooler and they will be out more, I hope. Sierra gave up her visual, watching for all her friends, sitting in front of the door and has gone for an afternoon nap.

The weekend will bring a big Major League baseball game to Bristol Motor Speedway. The games is between the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds. The fans are going crazy and the surrounding businesses are gearing up for the big crowds. We won’t be among them. But it is exciting to have such a big event here in East Tennessee. We can watch it on TV, and be comfortable.

Have a great rest of your Friday. Make it a relaxing, productive, thoughtful and fun day. Make your weekend fun, adventurous, exciting, and restful.
