Another cloudy day with rain predicted, maybe. There are showers here and there all around East Tennessee but that doesn’t mean that everyone will get the showers. they are sposmatic at best. We are thankful for each drop that we receive. The grass and trees are looking much better but sure could use a lot more rain, in gentle doses.
To start where I left off yesterday. The Country Music Museum, as I said was fabulous. To me it was a combination of a history lesson, a walk down memory lane, and seeing the “new” artists already in there. Not the last three years or maybe even 5 years, but Luke Combs is in there, big time. He has quite a large Hallway area totally to himself, with his trophy’s, grammys, and record. Also some of his clothing and a guitar or two.
Some of the costumes or outfits that the stars wore were their in their showcase, and were simply stunning. Of course, some were a bit gaudy, but most were beautiful. Minnie Pearl’s hat and dress and shoes were there along with a picture of her and a few other things. She was one of a kind for sure. So funny, so kind and so talented.
Roy Rogers and Dale Evens had a big area with their outfits and guns and most everything, including pictures of Trigger and Buttermilk. Their outfits were typically western and very pretty.
Roy Acuff was there as well as Patsy Cline, Kitty Wells, June Carter, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Tex Ritter, Willie Nelson, and all the rest. There were write-ups on where they were born, lived, family and their real names if they had changed their name. Very interesting. I believe another trip or two, maybe three, and I could cover the whole museum thoroughly, take every picture and get all the names correct, times and places. Maybe even all their music. It is a big place and well laid out.
We saw Elvis Presley’s corner complete with his Gold Cadillac. We saw the Night Riders car, and we saw the car with the pistol for door handles and the shotgun fenders and bull horns mounted on the front. I can’t think who’s car that is but when I do I will let you know. It was something. Both cars are something special.
