The second day of spring. It is sunny, breezy, cool, and pretty. The red Robin has been out hunting worms. The squirrel has been scampering around, looking for food…even checked out the empty bird feeders. They will get filled this weekend, I think. It should be about time for the hummingbirds to return I think, but maybe it is April before they get back in our area. The temperature is 55 degrees and it is 4:08 p.m.

I haven’t accomplished a great deal today. I have been waiting for the roofers to arrive but so far they haven’t showed up, They brought all the roofing materials yesterday so I was sure they would be here today. Maybe tomorrow or Monday. A watched pot never boils so I guess watched roofing materials never bring the roofers.

I have to make sure everyone has my new cell # as the old one won’t work as of tomorrow a.m. My new number is: 1-865-307-2339. I am still getting use to it as it is a bit different. But I think I will like it once I get use to all that it does. I should say once I figure out where everything is. It does what the old one did, but is arranged differently.

We are going grocery shopping once Tina gets home. WE plan on working on the garage sale stuff tomorrow and a few other projects we have going. I plan on doing the laundry as I didn’t do it today because I thought that the roofers were coming. So hope to accomplish that tomorrow along with a few other things. Wah’s House Hold Hints: “To remove rubber designs from bathtubs without harming the surface. Take a single edged razor blade and very carefully remove the coating under the design. Cleanser is then sprinkled over the remaining spots and leave for about an hour, then lightly rubbed. The cleanser treatment may have to be repeated but all will come off.

Enjoy your First Friday, and weekend of spring. Make it a beautiful, sunny, inspiring, and warm day and weekend/

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING!

Here it is still winter, overcast, windy, cold, spitting rain, and 42 degrees. It was 60 when we got up this morning at 5:00 a.m. It will be, so the weatherman says, 24 when we get up tomorrow morning. I am told that this is the “Red Bud winter”. We have two or three more to go through so the story goes.

I know that it has been nearly a week, or a week since I have been on the blog. It has been busy around here. Last Friday was a full day with errands to run and housework to accomplish. Plus the weather wasn’t good at all.

Saturday was rainy, windy and cold. We went to the grocery store and hurried back home. Tina worked in the morning.

Sunday was much better, went to church, then had Jerry, Tammy and Dottie here for Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner. It tasted so good as we get it once a year. It was fun having them here to visit and dine. Jerry gave us a hard time about not knowing how to set the clocks. A few weren’t correct time wise. The poser went out sometime during the night Saturday so they were way off. I hadn’t changed the other two or three as it hadn’t occurred to me to do so. I knew they were an hour slow. they would of been correct again in about six months. He fixed the clocks, tried to get the robot vacuum going, and did a few other things which we very much appreciate. He is such a Godsend to us.

Monday we had planned on going on a day trip to Sweetwater, but moved that idea to Tuesday as we had to take care of some other things, like my phone and getting Tina’s updated, and going to Best Buy, to visit the Geeks with the Robot Vacuum. The Geek doctor said that it was very sick and had to be sent to the Robot hospital. If they can cure what ails it, we well get it back, If not, they will replace it. then back home and dinner, TV and bed.

Tuesday we got ready, left the house, picked up Dottie and off to Sweetwater. We wanted to go through the Antique shops and whatever else we ran into. The one shop, which was big, was fun, interesting and lots of good stuff, not all antiques. I bought a OLD MOTHER HUBBARD NURSERY RHYME book. It isn’t vintage, but old enough and fun to look through, reading the nursery rhymes. We went to the Huddle House for lunch. We had eaten there with Jerry, Diana, Bryan, and the kids before they moved to North Carolina. It was fun and great food and prices. Then home, dropped Dottie off, headed for Oak Ridge. Once here, a quick trip to Kroger’s for three things we forgot and needed, then home.

Wednesday Tina had to go back to work and I just did the pick up and put away, the necessities. Then relaxed. The 4 day weekend caught up with me.

Today has been much better. I have cleaned out my desk drawer that I had clammed everything in. I filled the shredder so now have to empty that. I have wrote a story and answered my e-mails. And now, I have to go get dinner going. Tina requested grilled cheese sandwiches on sourdough bread and soup. I guess I can manage that.

Wah’s Handy House Hold Hints: “Roll powdered sugar to get lumps out rather than sifting. Put powdered sugar in a plastic bag and roll it from the corner out.”

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a fantastic, first day of spring with energy, adventure, smiles and lots of fun.

FRIDAY, MARCH 14, 2025

A windy, partly cloudy, warm day. It is 77 degrees outdoors and 70 degrees indoors. The weatherman said to be ware of high winds and lots of rain for tonight and tomorrow and Sunday morning. There is the possibility of tornadoes. It sounds like a very active weather weekend. The wind is here and the clouds are rolling in, so we shall see.

Not a great lot of news today. I have accomplished a lot of little things. You know, the things that one sets aside to do when there is more time or whatever the reason is. So I did accomplish getting the snack basket cleaned out and put on the baking cupboard cart. I put up another hook for the large hot pad mittens. I cleaned out a bunch of recipes that were stacked on the side of that cabinet. Just things like that. I was going to go sweep all the leaves out of the carport but since the wind is blowing I thought better of that idea. Then I chatted with Dottie. Now it is getting close to dinner time, Leftovers from last night. That turned out to be a great meal. My version of Beef tips and noodles. It was going to be beef stew, but we had a big salad instead the night before last, so last night I added sour cream and a rue to thicken the gravy and boiled some noodles, Hence Beef Tips and noodles with biscuits and a veggie. I have to fix a veggie for tonight.

Wah’s House Hold Hints: Stains on a sink or bathtub: can be removed with a paste made of hydrogen peroxide and cream of tarter.

Have a great weekend. Make it a safe, fun, interesting, adventurous and relaxing one. Enjoy all the St, Patties Day activities.

THURSDAY, MARCH 13, 2025

A mostly cloudy day. Right now the sun is shining through the clouds and the temperature is 70 degrees, It was 49 when we got downstairs at 5:00 this morning. I do believe spring is right around the corner. It should officially start a week from today.

Yesterday went by fast and I am not sure what all I accomplished, but know that I was busy. A trip to the post office is always a fun time. I normally turn at the wrong place so tour the town before finally arriving at my destination. Fortunately there wasn’t a line so was in and out within five minutes. I did manage to hit most of the red lights along the way.

Our post office is nice and set up so that they can handle three people at a time. They are well stocked with all the mailing materials one would need, and willing to help with tape, zip codes, and, of course, stamps.

Today I have done laundry, put a ton of stuff away that was waiting for a home, and answered Guideposts request for me to pay a bill that I had paid in September. I am so thankful that I write on the part of the bill I keep, the date, amount, check number so I have no problem finding it again. I also know how to retrieve the cancelled check. This is the tenth time I have had to do this so wrote them a letter and asked them what the problem was with their accounting/book keeping/billing department. I, again told them to cancel my account and that I had paid for every book I had bought and had cancelled checks to prove it. I did business with them several years ago and cancelled then for the same reason.

Tonight is beef tips and noodles, spinach, and biscuits. Last night was grilled chicken Ceaser salad. I am waiting for Sunday and corned beef and cabbage. That is one of my favorite dinners. Jerry, Tammy, Dottie are invited as well as Robbie Keith and Noah if they want to come. Robbie Keith is having some medical problems so may not feel up to coming out. Noah might have to work. there are times that school and employment get in the way of fun times. There is always a place at the table for both of them.

Wah’s House Hold Hints: To clean furry, fluffy toys: Give them a bath in white corn meal. Rub the meal all over the toy. While absorbing the dirt the meal will turn gray or brown, discolored. when the toy is cleaned, shake toy to get all the meal off.

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a cheerful, positive, kind, energetic, and fun day.
