Today is the first day of May. The fifth month of the year. And what a year it has been so far. Our President has completed his 100 days in office and started, changed and got rid of all sorts of rules, laws, and people. He has added new rules, laws, and people. Some, of not most of the changes are for the best, Some, maybe not, and a bunch are “wait and see”.

Today we have had a variety weather wise. Rain, wind, sunshine, clouds, and warmth. Right now, at 5:04 p.m., it is 76 degrees and sunny. No complaints here. Dottie was out and she said that it sprinkled on her all the way home. Tina said that it sprinkled on her all the way to work this morning. We had a good rain shower this morning, then dark clouds, and then sunshine, and a mixture of clouds and sun.

The $5.00 once a year sale is being held at the Methodist Hospital today and tomorrow. Dotty and I went and enjoyed shopping and looking. We each bought a few things and said that it was great and we will attend again next year, The Good Lord Willing. Tina came down and met us for lunch. The food there was pretty good. A great couple of hours.

Not a great deal of news around here today. No one has been out cutting trees or mowing, etc. Of course, I was gone part of the day so may have something. Just a normal, quiet, nice day which is perfect.

Wah’s House Hold Hints: ” To remove rug stains like blood, mildew, etc. Soak with cold water, then heavily covering it with cornstarch. Leave it on to dry completely, then vacuum up. It doesn’t harm the carpet.”

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a super energetic, interesting, productive and fun day.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30, 2025

A beautiful April spring day. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and lawn mower are humming. The grass is green and tall, the flowers are blooming and the trees are fully dressed with their bright and beautiful green leaves. sierra is enjoying watching the birds, the squirrel and the chipmunk chasing each other up and down the tree. The small lizards that are scurrying about here and there are another source of entertainment for her.

Today I have cleaned part of the living room, moving her cat tree closer to the window seat that isn’t really a window seat. She can look out while curled up in her cozy spot and won’t miss anything unless she is sleeping. I am using the top spot to hold my Christmas Cactus as it is getting so but that when we close the blinds we pinch some of the branches and leaves. So, hope this idea works. it now, I guess I will have to go buy a plant stand that is tall enough to hold the plant where it can be in the sun and light.

Tonight we are having hamburger patties, hash brown potato patties and a veggie/ Tonight is Crafts and I am hoping to be finished with dinner and dishes by 6:00 p.m. Then I can be at the church by 6:15 or so. I don’t know how busy that place will be tonight. It is also bible study night for the men and women as well as practice for the music, and the kids activities. It is a busy church. I believe we will discuss plans for visiting the nursing homes and giving those who have no one visiting them……no family or friends, etc. I understand from so many people that there are a lot of people in the nursing homes that are totally alone, no family or friends. That is sad. Anyhow, Tina is working on talking to the administrators to see who, how many (men and women, I believe) and how many should go in to visit for a few minutes, and would they like a lap throw. There are three nursing homes here in Oak Ridge.

Tina enjoyed her first day back at work, was very busy all day and so excited to be back there. And, she slept in her won bed last night without any problems. Things in that department are looking up. She will be home in about 30 minutes and we shall se how today went. I haven’t heard from her all day so I guess things at work are good.

Tomorrow there is a $5.00 jewelry sale at the hospital, and I think I might go. Tina said that I should. I doubt that I will buy anything but looking is fun. the bad part is that it will be held very close to the gift shop and that is dangerous as that place has so many cute, useful, items that I know enough to lock my purse up before going in there.

Wha’s House Hold Hints: “Dishwasher Film: fill dishwasher with glassware and china, (don’t put in the silver, aluminum, or brass). Put bowl in bottom of dishwasher. Pour 1 cup of Clorox into this and run dishwasher through the cycle, but do not dry. Fill bowl again with 1 cup of white vinegar and let it go through the complete cycle. this will remove all film from your dishes and dishwasher too.

Time to start dinner. Have a great rest of your Wednesday. Make it a relaxing, enjoyable, positive, cheerful and fun one.

TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 2025

Good afternoon. It is already the 29th day of April, and what a month it has been. It is nice to be back at the computer and able to type without the bulky bandage. Yes, I had to see if I couldn’t do one better then Tina. So now I am back at the computer, the sun is shining and Tina is back at work. All is beautiful.

We are very fortunate that we haven’t had all the bad weather that other places in this state, and many other states have had. We have had lots of rain and quite a bit of wind. One evening it hailed for about five minutes but the hail stones were very small and there was no damage. We are so very thankful for that. Of course Texas and the Midwest are still experiencing heavy rains and tornadoes and hail. My heart goes out tho them.

We have had some pretty warm days so everything is blooming and all the critters are appearing, waking up from their winter’s nap and hunting for food, etc. Jerry and Tammy had a couple visit at their old house one evening. They went over the next day to see what damage had been cause, and if they were still there. they didn’t see anything or anyone, but one, at least, had left the lingering aroma of its signature perfume. They didn’t see the visitors this time either, but did set traps. Sure enough! they trapped them. Now I’m not sure if these two were friends, working in cahoots with each other, but one was black and white, a regular beauty. The other was a masked bandit! Now I understand that the trap was working just fine and the culprits were caught. However, I haven’t heard if they are sharing the same cage, or were they separated?

Tina was able to return to work today. She was so excited to be getting back to work and out of the house where she has mostly been since March 28th. She has had to sleep in the recliner, and sit in the recliner, right arm in a sling or a brace type sling. She finally graduated to the shower and that helped her a lot. Then we went and got our hair cut, and she got hers washed real good, so that made her feel a lot better. She said it was hard to wash her hair with just one hand. she finally left the recliner and tried sleeping on the couch and said that was a lot better. I guess she is going to try and sleep in her bed tonight. I hope that works, but am thinking she will end up back on the couch. I sure hope that her first day back at work has been a great one. She is either just getting off work or will be home shortly. she wasn’t sure if she got off at 3:30 or 4:00. One does forget these minor things when one hasn’t been to work for a month.

Our garage/yard sale went wonderfully well. we had lots of people and we sold most of the stuff that was out there. Clothes were the least selling item. Dottie had put in the cutest little electric fireplace. I had my eye on it, but so did a few others so it sold in no time. That was good since I had no place to put it if I had bought it. Jerry had a six or seven piece older sound system for sale, and when he set it up he said that I didn’t have room for it. I didn’t and really didn’t want it. The fire place was much cuter, and I also have a beautiful large fireplace, electric. Tammy put in a lovely basket that i wanted and was going to get, but Sierra claimed it. so I really lucked out by not buying anything. Of course Sierra had to borrow money from me to pay for the basket. That cat!

To end the garage sale with a great finish, I fell, went boom! Jerry took me to Quick Care where Tina met us, and the doctor use strips of some sort of tape in place of stitches. She said that my skin was to thin to hold stitches. Other then that I was fine, I thought. Monday I went to my primary doctor and got my hand re-bandaged. White bandages do not stay white, regardless if you do or don’t get them wet. Wednesday I went to the dermatologist as the wart that was on my elbow that she has froze a week or so before partially tore off so she had to cut it off. yes, she placed a bandage there also. Friday I went to the back doctor as I believed that it was my back that caused me to fall. I go for shots in my back in May. It has been six months since my last shots in my back. Then, a week after the fall, my knee turned black and blue. I knew that I landed on it, and that it hurt, but I didn’t think anything of it until it turned black and blue. so I went to the knee doctor who x-ray and said that I had chipped a piece of the kneecap off. I thought that it you had your knee replaced that was or included the knee cap? What do I know! Anyway I am wearing either an ace bandage or a knee sleeve. i am using a cane for safety sake.

Now it is time to go prepare dinner for my working child. I think it will be tuna Salad. That is lite, nourishing, and good.

Wah’s House Hold Hints: Hair Setting Gel: Add a teaspoon of unflavored gelatin to a cup of warm water, (be sure that it is dissolved) to make an excellent setting lotion for your hair. Just as good as the store bough-ten stuff “it says”.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Make it a productive, cheerful, sociable, adventurous and fun day.

Blessings.

TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 2025

It has been ages since I have been here. The past week and a half have been quite busy and eventful, making it very hard to even think about getting on the computer, playing games and updating every one. I am sorry. I do hope things will go better now and I can be on here most of the time.

On March 28, Tina went to work. She was to train in the ER, learning the registration and meeting the staff, etc. She went it and put most of her stuff on her desk, then went back to her car to get something. She missed a step and fell. the wife of the head of HR saw her and stopped. She called her husband who came out with medical people, a back board and whatever else. They took her in and put her in one of the ER rooms. She was very concerned because she couldn’t feel her right arm so thought it was missing.

It turned out she had dislocated her shoulder. Long story short the doctor said he didn’t think it was broken but the swelling was preventing them getting a clear picture. Monday, the 5th of April, she went to the Orthopedic Surgeon. He believes that it is her rotator cup, but has ordered an MRI. She, on the other hand, believes that it is just a bruised muscle and will be just fine in a couple of days. This occurred March 28th and this is now April 9th. She still can’t raise her arm nor can she hold it without support, so I believe I’ll go with the rotator cup call. We are still waiting for the MRI appointment. Workman’s Comp can be a bit slow.

So she is home, sleeping in the reclines, wanting to go back to work, watching TV, and trying to do everything she isn’t supposed to do. I am working on being a good nurse, keeping house, cooking, washing, etc. And preparing for the garage sale this weekend. She has a brace to wear that is quite the deal. It even has a ball attached to the end by the hand. I told Jerry and Tammy that she was ready to come and play with the dogs. They can play ball! Finley would love it as she loves to play fetch.

It should be a good garage sale as Jerry and Tammy are, and have, brought stuff, Dottie is bringing stuff, we have stuff , Charles said he has stuff and I think Melinda, next door has stuff. it should be fun and, hopefully, profitable. At least we all will of gotten rid of things we no longer need. And the meeting and greeting people will be interesting and fun.

Today Tina has a doctor’s appointment in Knoxville so we decided to go to Cosco and get Kleenex, paper towels and toilet paper. they say it is all going up due to the tariffs, and we need it anyhow so might as well get it now. And probably coffee as we know that isn’t grown in the USA. Can’t run out of coffee!

I am hoping to get back on schedule, but if I miss a day or two, you will know that it is my nursing duties that are keeping me off the computer.

Wha’s House Hold Hints: “To wash corduroy garments, turn inside out. “

” To make super fine sugar, use your blender.”

Time to get ready to hit the road, Have a great rest of your Wednesday and make it a adventurous, productive, cheerful, profitable, and fun day.
