Thursday, March 16, 2023 Sunny Windy High Clouds Cool 64 Degrees 3:30 p.m.

A windy but lovely day again. So nice to see the sun shining. It is cool outside as the winds adds the chill. We do appreciate the sunshine as tomorrow brings the rain again, and cooler temperatures. Rain all of tomorrow then Saturday is to be much cooler but dry. Crazy weather everywhere.

This morning bible study was held here. We are doing “The Truth Project” and it is very interesting. Charles is a good leader and tells us a bit about the film we are about to see prior to seeing it. That helps prepare us in the subject matter and also for questions we might have afterwards. All so good. In case anyone is interested, I think there might be a book version that can be bought from Focus on the Family website. I know that the study guide and Travel Logue as well as the DVDs can be purchased there.,

We are having mail problems here, as in all of Oak Ridge. We haven’t had mail for three days now, but packages have been delivered. I just saw the mailman stop at out mailboxes but am not sure that he left mail or just a package for someone. Everyone is having a fit. They say it is because they are short handed but when people apply they either don’t get back to them or they want them to work many hours over time, can’t say no when asked to work overtime and have to be on call at all times. The rumor has it that Amazon pays them well to deliver their packages so that is the priority and regular mail is secondary. Tina is waiting on the electric bill to arrive and it will be late if it doesn’t get here by Saturday. I know others have complained to no avail. Even one of the senators went in there and voiced his complaint for himself and all those that he represents. I guess that didn’t go well. I have to call and see where are mail is. Not getting your statements on time can cause major problems.

The red headed woodpecker is out there enjoying a meal. He is a young one and not full grown. So pretty and active. The finches are also out there eating and flying around . A very active afternoon at the Bird Diner.

Quote of the day: “The beautiful words of Ecclesiastes: teach us there is “a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep and a time to cast away. “There are occasions in life when we must hang on-grip the hand of God tight and struggle fiercely to hold on to His promises. And then at the end of our lives, there is a time to let go of the struggles and simply fall into those everlasting arms of the Father.” My calendar

I wonder what was going on in the life of whoever wrote the above calendar entry. I somehow think the author was having a struggle himself (herself).

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a calm, pleasurable, peaceful, profitable, promising and fun day.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15, 2023

Wednesday, March 15, 2023 Sunny Clear Cold Windy 52 Degrees 4:03 p.m.

A beautiful day after a very cold start. We got up to a 23 degree frosty morning. The word that describes it is BRRR! The furnace came on all morning. I didn’t open the blinds until the sun came up at around 8:30. Here, unlike Nevada, the sun doesn’t rise up so early. I think it is because of all the mountains and trees. But when it does rise, it sure is beautiful.

The birds have enjoyed the sunshine and dry weather all day. They have managed to empty the bird feeders and gathered all the seeds that have fallen on the ground. The Red headed Woodpecker was here a few minutes ago, eating the leftovers in one of the bird feeders. The finches are also checking to make sure there is nothing left in either bird feeder. Tina will be home in about an hour, so she can fill them and make all the birds happy. I don’t see the robins eating from the bird feeders. They stay on the grass and seem to find plenty of food there as they are here every day now, looking fat and healthy. I saw the squirrel a couple of day ago so know that he is back and waiting to check out the bird feeders. I guess the cowbirds are mean as they chase everything else away.

Other then normal household chores, there is nothing exciting going on around here. Allergies are starting up from the trees and mold, so lots of people are experiencing scratchy throats, sneezing, and all the rest that go with the allergies. I hope that we don’t get attacked with any of them. Tina is more apt to attract the allergies as where she works is surrounded by grass, trees, flowers, etc. It is beautiful but not in this season. There are tons of different kinds of treas on that property and a lot of them are starting to bloom. Achoo.

MONDAY, MARCH 13, 2023

Monday, March 13, 2023 Mostly cloudy Windy Cold 48 Degrees 4:31 p.m.

A typical March day. Windy, Cold, Cloudy and Monday. The weatherman said that we will be in a freeze starting tonight through tomorrow at noon. Time to bring out the heavy jackets , fur gloves and warm boots. That is for Tina. As for me, I will stay home in the warm house with sweats and fur slippers.

We had a very good weekend and a busy one. Saturday we made sure the house was ready for company, put the corned beef in the crockpot, and went to the Woman’s Retreat at the Woodland’s Baptist Church. It was very nice. The speakers were ladies from around here and they told how they became Christians and why. One lady was a pastor’s daughter. Once she went off to school she learned about life of a collage girl and had a great time. She graduated, got a job and thought life was just perfect. She then met this man who seemed to have it all in control, was always pleasant, kind and steady. She started dating him and decided that she wanted what he had. She married him. She learned about God and all He had to offer. She really felt the need to explore this new feeling so she went to the seminary and became a minister. She had been raised in a Methodist church, so she went there to see about being a part time pastor. They said that she needed to go to the seminary. She told them she had graduated from the seminary. They said she had to go to the Methodist seminary. She said that she was a Baptist now so she didn’t believe she needed to continue to be a member of the Methodist church any longer. Today she is the pastor at the correction institute, (Prison) in Tennessee. She is a very nice lady, married, has children, small in stature and big in heart, wisdom and compassion. What impressed me most was when she said that she didn’t believe that God judged people by what church they belonged to but by the person themselves.

The church is rather small by the standards of all the very large, impressive churches that are found back here. As with most every building back here, it is two stories, the sanctuary on the main level and most everything else in the basement level. They have a stair chair for those who find it difficult to climb the stairs. It is an older one but works very well. Yes, I used it. They served a lovely luncheon in the basement area.

We met several ladies from across the state as well as other states who came for this retreat. All were very nice and friendly. One was a lady who had lived in the city her whole life. After marriage, her husband and her bought a farm. When they married she had one child from a previous marriage and he had two. She told him that she had always wanted to adopt as she felt there was such a need. Soon she got pregnant and they had a set of twins. They then were called on to be told that the baby they wanted to adopt was ready to be picked up so they went and got him. That was five children. Now, a few years later, the have a total of 11. She is slender, friendly, agile, and enjoys all of her children as does her husband. All I can say is WOW!

Saturday evening Jerry, Tammy and Dottie came for dinner. It was a fun evening as we always enjoy their company. They brought desert, Shamrock ice cream Sundays and they were good. After eating them we were freezing. Not Jerry, just us ladies. A fun evening for sure.

Quote of the day: ” For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you’ll never walk alone.” Sam Levenson

Have a great rest of your Monday. Make it a pleasant, productive, positive and fun day.

FRIDAY, MARCH 10, 2023

Friday, March 10, 2023 Sunny Breezy Clear 56 Degrees 4:31 p.m.

A beautiful day, though it started out rainy and a bit on the cold side. By noon we had beautiful sunshine and lots of happy birds dining at the feeder. this lovely weather should last until tomorrow night —–then the rains return.

Tomorrow morning Tina and I are going to a woman’s retreat.. We were invited by one of the ladies she worked with at Home Depot. There are to be four speakers and I will elaborate more on that after tomorrow’s event. I am looking forward to this event as usually these retreats are very interesting, fun and a chance to meet people from other communities. The last one I was at was in Las Vegas and Patricia Shriver was the speaker. She is very good,

Today I have been using my steam mop. I sure do like that household tool. It gets the floors clean, find all sorts of small things like pebbles that creep under furniture, and even cat toys. I vacuum once the floors are dry and get all the tine stuff the mop send out. Very nice. It is also very easy to use and not hard on my back and knees at all. That is the biggest bonus.

We had planned on going to the Ponderosa Zoo on Sunday afternoon but the weatherman said that there is 90% chance of rain, like 1 1/2 inches of rain, so we postponed that trip for a week or so. i am looking forward to seeing all the new babies but I am sure their mothers will have them tucked in our of the rain. And, it would be muddy.

Have a great rest of you Friday and a safe, healthy, bountiful, and fun weekend.
