Tuesday, November 29, 2022 Foggy Cold Maybe Sunny 36 Degrees 8:30 a.m.

We had a very busy weekend here in East Tennessee. We didn’t get to move Dottie. but we did accomplish the house decorating. At least most of it. There are still things to be done, like the outside decorations and a few indoor ones. Mostly rearranging what we have out and up. I need help with my new train. It is a bit more complicated then what we thought when we bought it. Other then that, all is good.

Dottie came and spent the night Saturday. She was such a great help in putting up the tree and decorating. She is a very talented lady. We had fun visiting as we worked at the decorations. Max was there but not really interested in the goings o, just slept . the cats were equally as interested in everything. Milo did venture to check out the tree but found it not to his liking. We weren’t generous with giving him ornaments to play with. Sierra just watched from the back of the couch for a bit then curled up in her bed and napped through most of the day.

By dinner time we three were ready for the Taco Stew that had been simmering in the crock pot all day. It smelled so good and we were so ready to sit down and relax. We watched a couple of TV programs and then up the stairs and to bed.

Sunday morning we were up and ready to enjoy coffee and look at the pretty Christmas trees and relax.

Tammy texted and said we were to be ready to go at 11:30 a.m. as there was a basket ball game going on at the University so we would need to leave earlier so we could park, etc. So Dottie got dressed and her and Max left for home. Tina and I got showered and ready to go. Tammy arrived promptly at 11:35, and we were ready. Off we went to pick up Dottie, then headed out to the University of Tennessee. WOW! it is a big place with many buildings, old and new. Very pretty. Tammy drove around the whole area then found the right building and a parking place fairly close.

Inside we bought drinks and pop corn, then waited to be seated. We had great seats with a perfect view of everything, and could hear very well. The play, ” A Christmas Carol”. was excellent. The cast did their parts to perfection and the scenery was perfect. We enjoyed it very much. I, as well as Tina, Tammy and Dottie was surprised at how many young children were there. Three and four year olds were sitting close to us. Their parents had to spend more time either explaining different things to them or comforting them. A Christmas Carol is a rather dark story . None of us would of though to bring a small child to it. Maybe Junior High age on up. All in all, it was a great stage play and much enjoyed by us four.

I missed Monday’s blog. I had to have a day of “rest”. Am great today with energy and a feel the ability to get things done. I sure hope it lasts all day long.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2022

Friday, November 25, 2022 Twilight Clear Nice 59 Degrees 5:32 p.m.

I hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope you all have lots of leftovers to enjoy for the nest few days, maybe a week? Especially the pies! They are always so good. Pumpkin, Apple, Mincemeat, Pumpkin Roll, Spice Cake, Pineapple upside down cake, What did I forget. Yummy! The turkey sandwiches are also a show stopper.

Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. To most of the United States, it is BLACK FRIDAY! That is the day the stores go Green and the shoppers go Red. At any rate, that is the wish of the stores, the green part. Green and Red make Black, I think.

The malls in Knoxville were pack by 6:00 a.m. Tina said that the stores here were very busy as she drove by on her way to work. The news said that people started lining up for shops in the mall at 3:30 A.M. I thought that with all the Black Friday sales going on all month long that it wouldn’t be a big deal this year. I was wrong, I guess. I am thankful that I wasn’t one of the crowd. The cats and I were busy here at home.

Today I got things rearranged and ready for tomorrow’s Christmas decorating. The tree goes up, the umpteen boxes, plastic bins, etc. of decorations come in. The fall stuff gets put away until next year. I am looking forward to seeing what all we have and how are we going to arrange it. Things change from year to year. A great way to spend the weekend.

Sure glad that isn’t me! ):

Have a great rest of you Friday and a wonderful, safe, cheerful, thrifty, and fun weekend.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2022

Wednesday, November 23, 2022 Sunny Slight breeze Cool 55 Degrees 12:46 p.m.

A beautiful Wednesday afternoon. Thanksgiving Eve. Tina is at work but will be making pies when she gets home. Tammy is home doing the pre- Thanksgiving dinner preparations. I am sure that Jerry is working and those who aren’t working are either traveling, shopping or preparing for tomorrow

I am finishing up computer projects, doing a bit of cleaning and whatever else needs to be done around here. The feline family members are working on their 18 hours of beauty rest. I haven’t looked out at the Oak Ridge Turnpike in a while, but I imagine that it is busy. The hustle and bustle of the holiday travel. We are going to Jerry and Tammy’s so most of the traffic will be where they are going by that time. It isn’t far so only have to take food. No suitcases.

I am looking forward to the Thanksgiving parade starting at 9:00 a.m. on NBC tomorrow morning. That is always so good. That is followed by the Best of Dog show and we enjoy that. We will probably leave for Jerry’s before the dog show is over. At his house there will be football on two TV’s. The good smells of turkey drifting through the house and other foods getting near time to be set on the table with hungry people gathering around to give thanks for the bounty, and for everything else, then enjoy the good fare.

It will be fun to see and visit with everyone, play with the dogs and enjoy the afternoon. We will probably come home before dark. We don’t like driving after dark as the headlights aren’t as bright as we would like and the animals come out, crossing the road. They don’t seem to look both ways before crossing the roads and highways.

Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday. Make it a safe, busy, enjoyable and fun day. May tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day, remind you of all the many reasons and things that you have to be thankful for. Have a safe, fulfilling, an fun day.

Tuesday, November 22, 2022 Sunny High Clouds Cool 51 Degrees 2:17 p.m.

A beautiful day. A bit cool but much better then the previous wintry days. There is still a chill in the air and jackets, sweaters and mittens are still needed. However, Thanksgiving day is said to be 62 degrees. That is the day the ovens will be on and all the good smells will float in the air. I believe 62 degrees outdoors will be very welcome.

Had my semi annual physical this morning. I am healthy as a horse. I guess I am good for another six months. Of course Arthur visits me quite often, but then, he is a visitor to so many senior citizens. I think he comes with age and all the living of life we do. I have no complaints.

On the way to the doctor’s office this morning we stopped at Walmart. We knew we had to have cat food as they had their last can this morning. It was great shopping as there were very few people there. I was surprised at the people stocking shelves and racks. I thought that was done at night after the store was closed. I was told that since COVID-19, there hasn’t been graveyard crews to do the stocking so no graveyard shift. Now it is done during the hours the store is open. One of the problems is not enough people wanting to work or wanting to work outside their home. Work from Home is the popular thing now. That, in part, is caused by the high cost of child care. It is a vicious circle. Also the lack of materials or supplies to do certain jobs. Anyway, outside of dodging stocking people with large overloaded carts, the shopping was good and we were in and out in no time.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Make it a positive, thrifty, productive, safe and fun day.
