Tuesday, October 18, 2022 Sunny Breezy Chilly 34 Degrees 9:40 a.m.

The cold front arrived and it is a brisk morning here in East Tennessee. We reached the freezing mark , a bit past it, at 31 degrees when I came down at 7:00 a.m. The weatherman said we will have two more days of this and then it will warm up some. Our high today will be about 50 degrees, maybe.

Back to the weekend. I think the most exciting event was the Tennessee VOLS and Alabama CRIMSON TIDE’S game. They kept the score neck to neck through most of the game. The VOLS won in the last two seconds of the game. All in the stands of the Vol’s wore orange and some added a bit of white. They were yelling and cheering and waving their scarves, pom poms , caps and hats. After the game, some of the fans took the goal posts down and put them in the river. The team and the fans were beyond excited. This is the first win for the Vols against Alabama in 15 years. This year the Vols have a great coach. Go Vols!

Jeff, Nanette and Molly are on their way back home. As of 7:00 this morning they were 60 miles away from Oklahoma City. It was 39 degrees there at that time. I guess that the weather is good other then being cold. I wish they a safe journey, and a enjoyable one. I am not sure Molly is enjoying all these long car rides, but so goes it.

Quote of the day: “I can’t help but wish scientists would develop some kind of brain implant to ward off memory lose as we age.” My calendar.

Have a great,Tuesday. Make it a taco, re-fried beans and rice kind of day, with lots of good chips and salsa, kind words and loving family and friends.

Monday, October 17, 2022 Sunny Cool Breezy 58 Degrees 10:54 a.m.

A beautiful day here in Oak Ridge Tennessee. The weatherman is saying we will will be under a freeze warning possible tonight and defiantly tomorrow night. We are ready for it as the hose is drained and the water spicket covered for winter. I know we will have some warm days between now and Christmas but also some freezing ones so best be prepared for them. No plumbing bills, please.

Jeff, Nanette and Molly are returning home today. They have a long ways to go and I pray for them to have safe travels while enjoying all the beauty and interesting places along the way. Yesterday we met them in Pigeon Forge and toured a bit there and Gatlinburg. We went to a distillery that was a bit interesting but defiantly not what I expected it to be. There they sold moonshine: pickles, peaches, apple pie, raspberry, etc. They charged $5.00 to start with and then you got to taste all the stuff and they told how it was made and the history of the place. There are several extensions to this place and at one of them you can see how moonshine is made. We didn’t find that one. We ended up having lunch at The Burger Place where we had to climb up this steep driveway to get in the handicapped door to go in. The food was good. We each had one of the lunch specials. Tina and Jeff had T bone steaks and Nanette and I had cheeseburgers. Each was $19.00 which wasn’t bad. The steaks weren’t thick but were very good according to both Jeff and Tina. Our hamburgers were very good also. Nanette went and got the car while we waited for her as the steep walk down the driveway would of put Jeff on his face I think. And maybe me. The hills and mountains there are something to concur when on foot.

While they were here we didn’t do a lot of site seeing but did a lot of visiting and such. One evening we had dinner at Calhoun’s with Jerry and Tammy. It was interesting listening to Jerry and Jeff converse and also Tammy and Nanette. Nanette talks more then Jeff. That was fun. Molly was such a good dog and didn’t bark at the other dogs going by. We sat outside so Molly could be with us. We were able to take her everyplace with us as she had all her service dog vest and papers.

We went to Home Depot for a couple of things Jeff wanted and Molly barked at some of the dogs that came in there. The female dogs aren’t so bad but she dislikes male dogs intently. The females she growls at. We enjoyed the fact that she just barked and growled but didn’t want to go after them. Most of them just looked at her as if to say ” Your problem is?” One dog wanted to get at her but both masters curtailed that encounter.

Today is laundry and cleaning up and putting away, etc. There is always that around here it seems. I have no enthusiasm as to doing a whole lot as I am sore from all the walking and “climbing” yesterday. I guess I am not 21 any more. Its’ in the hips that I feel it most. And I know those hills didn’t pass the lips!

Have a marvelous Monday. Make it a prosperous, pleasant, peaceful and powerful day.

Thursday, October 13, 2022 Cloudy Still Cool Might rain 63 degrees 10:00 a.m.

A nice fall day with the sun just peeking out from behind the clouds. We will either have a sunny afternoon or a cloudy, rainy afternoon. Time will tell. It is on the warmish side but a cold front is working its’ way through so I doubt it will be over 70 if that, heat wise.

Today we are going to look around Oak Ridge and see all the sites. Mostly Nanette and I. We will explore the mall and such. Jeff is going to stay home and rest as his back is bothering him. We plan on meeting with Jerry and Tammy for dinner this evening. Dinner on the river. Close to the river.

Yesterday we went to breakfast, then did a bit of shopping. They had to get a new tire so couldn’t go to far until the tire place got the tire. It arrived yesterday afternoon, so that pretty much took care of yesterday. It was nice to just hang around and visit. Jeff managed to put the closet door back on in the hall bathroom and new lights under the cabinets in the kitchen. Both Tina and I are so happy to have that done.

Nanette just heard the birds singing loudly outside. She couldn’t imagine that they were outside as they are loud and sound so pretty. One might think that they are inside here. We do have a lot of different types of birds and their different songs, etc. One of the things we so enjoy here.

Quote of the day: “What a comforting thought—to imagine our grandchildren facing some tough decision someday or feeling lonely in some far- off place and suddenly remembering a grandmother’s love–and being comforted by it.” My calendar

Have a fantastic Thursday. Make it a trouble free, profitable, joyous and fun day.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2022

Tuesday, October 12, 2022 Cloudy Slight breeze Rain coming 65 Degrees 12:40 p.m.

We have had showers which are welcome. The weatherman said that we should get rain with thunder and lightening tonight into tomorrow morning. This will also be on again/off again. We shall see. the grass and plants are happy for the moisture.

We are enjoying Jeff and Nanette’s company. Molly, the dog is such a good dog. she minds well and is very friendly towards humans and ignores the cats, who stay hidden for the most part. If Jeff reprimands Molly she comes to me as if saying I’m at Grandma’s and she will let me have whatever it is I want. That isn’t quite true, but close.

Last night we had dinner at Buddy;s BBQ and it was good. Later on Jerry and Tammy came over and visited and that was fun. We will meet them for dinner tomorrow night. I think we may go to Knoxville tomorrow evening. Tonight we are having chili dogs, tater tots, and salad for dinner with ice cream for desert.

Quote of the day: ” I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living; Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:13-14 My calendar

Have a great rest of your Wednesday. Make this day a cheerful, friendly, kind, adventurous and fun day.
