MURPHY ON WATCH FOR THE SQUIRREL

Thursday, June 9, 2022 Sunny A Few White Fluffy Clouds Slight Breeze 81 degrees 5:33 p.m.

A beautiful day and no rain in sight. It rained last night again so I won’t have to water until tomorrow. A family of warblers had made their home in our hanging plant so will have to water it very carefully. If we are careful we can manage to keep the plant and the birds healthy.

Since our neighbor has tested positive for Covid, I went and got tested today. I do not have covid but do have sinusitis, on the verge of an infection. It is allergies. . I have the sneezing and sneezing and runny nose and all that goes with it. What made me think it might be covid is the sore throat and ear ache. The ear ache is the part that might become an infection. The doctor gave me Allegra-D and said to take Ibuprofen for the swelling and aches. The ear is the one that is the most bothersome at the moment.

Dinner tonight is left overs or what ever anyone wants. We are each on our own. I am strongly thinking of soup. That sounds good to me, Tina loves the snacking idea so she will have chips, dip, and whatever else strikes her fancy. She likes healthy eating like that.

The quote of the day: A friend told me that each morning when we get up we have to decide whether we are going to save or savor the world. I don’t think that is the decision. It’s not an either/or, save or savor. We have to do both, Save and savor the world. Kate Clinton Comedian

Have a great rest of your day. Make it sunny, smiling, cheerful, kind and fun.

THE GARDEN IS GROWING

Wednesday, June 8, 2022 Mostly Cloudy Breezy Maybe rain 82 degrees 4:44 p.m.

There was rain this mourning and then, sunshine and a few clouds. We should get rain again tonight along with the thunder and lightening.. The rain sure makes the veggies grow. And the grass. Very pretty and serene.

Not a lot going on today. Stayed home and did odd jobs around here. I still can’t talk very well so best I keep myself at home and quiet. Tin can talk for both of us. So it is her voice and one hand and my two hands that keep us busy and able. A week from today she gets the stitches out and then she should be able to do what ever she needs to do with that hand. Hopefully I will have my voice back before then.

Today’s quote: The Value of Simple Pleasures Eleven year old Zlata Filipovic, like so many girls her age, kept a diary in 1991. “We gave ourselves a treat today” she wrote one July day. “We picked cherries off the tree in the yard and ate them all up. WE had watched it blossom and its small green fruits slowly turn red and now we are eating them. Oh what a wonderful cherry tree.”

Zlata’s words read like any young girl’s whimsical musings. But this innocent summer activity held a much deeper meaning: Zlata wrote the diary entry in the mist of war in her hometown of Sarajevo. “I miss fruit a lot.” she continued. “In these days of war in Sarajevo, there is no basic food or any of the other things a person needs, and there is no fruit. But now I can say I ate myself silly on cherries.”

That simple pleasure brought tremendous joy to a girl who witnessed brutality daily. Simple pleasure can do that if we take time to appreciate what the moment offers. Adapted from Zlata’s Diary; Zlata Filipovic Viking Press

Have a beautiful, joyful, appreciative and fun day.

WHEN PLAYING YAHTZEE AT OUR HOME,

SIERRA ALWAYS J JOINS IN.

Tuesday, June 7, 2022 Cloudy breezy Maybe rain 79 Degrees 5:07 p.m.

It had been a rainy, cloudy day with the sun peeking out every now and then. A nice day to get some things done here in the house as well as relax a bit. I have been very quiet today as I woke up with laryngitis . I asked Alexia how to spell it and she gave me a Mexican dish. Yes, I will be quiet.

Tina has been very energetic today. We have cleaned the office quite thoroughly as both Sierra and Milo are shading like crazy. And they both want to be in here with us. I clean the office at least every other day fr that reason. I would like to get them both shaved for the summer but I doubt they would like it. They would have to be “put out” before the vet would do it. I guess they will stay furry.

The people across the way have a beautiful black dog with a bit of white on his chest and neck. He is a big dog, like maybe a Great Dane mix. He just got loose again so the chase is on. He runs across the yard and down the hill and I don’t know where else he goes. I do know his master gets a lot of exercise each day. We get entertained. As much as we enjoy the Chase”, we hope and pray that he doesn’t run out onto the Oak Ridge Pike as that is very busy, especially now that it is rush hour. We think he is a puppy, probably in the teenage stage.

Now it is dinner time. We are having meat loaf, mashed potatoes, green beans and jello. .

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Make it a pleasant, productive, positive, friendly and fun day.

Monday, June 6, 2022 mostly cloudy rain coming still 84 degrees 5:00 p.m.

So far, June has been a crazy busy month. Between Doctor visits, Tina’s corporal tunnel surgery, keeping up with the house, being the chauffeur, running errands and trying to do my blog keeps me our, or in, trouble for sure. As far as the cats are concerned, I am in trouble. I cut their wet food down to once a day.

The above picture is our front yard. Tina has planted flowers under the dogwood tree and they are starting to come up. they are bulbs so won’t bloom until late summer and early fall but I think will be beautiful when they do bloom. That will give some color out there. The bit of yellow you see is a leaf from the zucchini plant. That part of the garden is coming along nicely. We got to pick a radish yesterday. The black hook you see is the tip of a bird feeder pole.

Tina had a doctor’s appointment at 8:15 this morning. We went to that, then to I-Hop for breakfast. It was good to have something different for breakfast. After that we went to T J Max as I have been looking for a new dish drainer. I found a nice one there for less then $1 0,00 so it is now by the kitchen sink. We then went to Home Goods and looked around, then Ross’s and looked around and then to Burks. Then home. Tina found a couple of things and I found one or two but not a lot. It was fun to just get out and look at different things. The three stores here are very nice, not crowded and you can actually see the merchandise they have. All is neatly arranged and prices are able to be seen easily on most items. Tomorrow we will take some stuff to Karn’s as I keep adding to the “give away” sack and pile.

Yesterday we met Jerry, Tammy and Dottie at the theater here in Oak Ridge and enjoyed watching Top Gun Maverick. It was a great movie. The seats there are very comfortable, recline and even have a warmer in the back if needed. I like that. Our next movie will be Dalton Abby . I am not sure when but I am sure soon. I doubt Jerry will join us for that one. He will miss out on a good English love story.
