A BIRD’S EYE VIEW OF A PART OF OAK RIDGE TENNESSEE

Tuesday, February 2, 2022 Rain Flood warning through Friday morning 55 degrees 5:14 p.m.

A beautiful rainy Wednesday afternoon. The rain is just a brief shower every now and then at the moment, but it is supposed to start raining steady this evening and throughout the night into tomorrow. We might get a break in the rain for a spell tomorrow sometime, then start up again and continue on until Friday morning when the cold front hits and the rain can turn into sleet and snow. That is my current weather report for Oak Ridge and east Tennessee.

Tina and I went out this morning to run errands before the rain starts. We went to the Post office, then to pick up her new glasses, and then to the cleaners. We have a table runner that we thought might be better cleaned at the cleaners. They said that since the decorations on it were in part felt, that we would do better taking it home and using a damp cloth and spot cleaning it, then a roller that you use to get lint and such off your clothes to pick up any cat hair or other minute things that might be on it. O.K. I can do that.

The next thing was the very delicate and pretty crocheted angles that Cora Jepsen made me twenty or more years ago. She thought they were exquisite but said that I would do better taking them home, pushing them gently back into shape, then on a news paper, taking spray starch and in short gentle spurts spray then and gently wipe off any dust that is on them with a damp cloth. After all of that, then spray them gently with spray starch and place them in the china cabinet or other enclosed place where they can be seen and enjoyed but protected. I should use steam on them before the final spray starch.

I don’t know as I totally agree with all of that so will check around and see what other places have to say about both of those items. I am open to suggestions from my blog readers. PLEASE!

Other then that it has been a quiet day. Tina had the day off but was called in as they were very short handed. So many out because they tested positive for Covid so have to stay home for five days regardless of being ill or not. Masks are required most places and we wear one regardless.

Have a great rest of you day. Make it a healthy, safe, enjoyable, productive and fun day.

Blessings

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN OAK RIDGE TENNESSEE

Tuesday, February 1, 2022 Sunny Clean, Not a cloud in sight 60 Degrees 5:22 p.m.

A lovely day for the 1st of February. so nice and warm and perfect. The cats enjoyed laying in the sun in the big window. They do like their sun and vitamin D. Tina took the neighbor’s dog for a long walk and said she saw the cardinal up the street in a tree that is bare of leaves. I will be glad when they come back down here but guess they move around some. Maybe this spring will bring them back to our trees.

Tomorrow we are due to get the beginning of the storms again. We will start with rain and I believe that is all we will get, but like 3 inches of the wet stuff. We should be fine as we aren’t near a creek, river or lake. My granddaughter will have the flooding issue as they have a pond, lake and creek. And fish and a boat.

I am so shocked and dismayed at the amount of children that are needing foster homes, and how many children, who have been adopted, treated very badly and even killed by the people who adopted them. They just did it for the money. I didn’t know that you received money if you adopted a child?.! Even if you foster a child I didn’t realize you received money, or much money. I thought just doctors and health care. What do I know! I do feel bad for these children.

Time to get dinner going and feed these poor starving cats! They really need to get a job and earn the money for their cat food. It is getting as expensive as our food is.

Have a wonderful rest of your day. Make it a positive, profitable, cheerful, kind, and fun one.

Blessings

AN AWESOME SCENE

Monday, January 31, 2022 Sunny, Beautiful Calm 50 degrees 5:22 p.m.

I have to say, it was freezing when I got up this morning. 22 degrees isn’t warm in my book. As the day progressed, the sun came out and warmed thing up quite nicely. The cats so enjoyed laying in the windows, basking in the sun, soaking up the warmth and vitamin D. I enjoyed the sun helping go warm up the house and brighten the place up. So nice.

Even though it was freezing cold and dreary, it was a good weekend. We got some snow but not a great deal. I thought we would wake up Sunday morning with a foot of the white stuff but we barely got an inch if that much. The cold made it this far but not as bad as some places. I think our low here was 16 degrees where as some places were below 0 and colder. We live in the “tropics of East Tennessee”. The roads were treated so not much worry about icy roads here but other places had the icy roads because the treatment didn’t do so well in the below zero weather. Tina made it to work on Saturday morning, and back home safely.

Sunday was much better but still very cold, got up to 31 here for the high. We made a quick trip to CVS and to Walmart and back home. That was after Tina got home from work. For the most part we stayed in cuddled up in our chairs with warm throws, watching recorded TV programs. We switched back and forth to the ball games. The Rams and Bengals are in the Super Bowl, the Big Game of the Year. I like both sheep and cats, so may the better animal win.

Our little animal farm up the Turnpike from us has a mommy goat and three babies. They are so cute! We just love driving by and seeing all the animals grazing so contentedly. And they all get along so well. The miniature donkeys are there as their guardians. The sheep, lambs, goats, lamas and chickens all roam the pasture together, very happily.

Today I went to the shoulder doctor. He is so nice, so young, so professional. He had me get e-rays of my shoulder again and said that there is a bit more wear and tear bu since I can still use it without much trouble he doesn’t see a need for surgery. I wouldn’t be having rotatercup surgery as I do not have a rotater cup. I guess it has worn away. He is amazed that I can move my are at all much less do everything I would normally do with the exception of being able to fasten the seat belt. So weird. anyhow, I guess I will have to think about surgery on it in the future but not now.

Have a great rest of your day. Make it a sunny, warm, fun, and productive one,

Blessings

AN ARCTIC WOLF WHO WOULD LOVE THIS ARCTIC FREEZE WE ARE RECEIVING

Friday, January 28, 2022 Cloudy Snow Flurries Windy 35 degrees 5:42 p.m.

The freeze is supposed to arrive very early in the morning, about the time Tina has to leave for work, 4:30 a.m. The start of the entering cold was at 3:00 p.m and it is slowly and steadily getting colder . The wind doesn’t help, and it is an on again/off again wind. The off isn’t bad but the on gets your attention.

When I get up in the morning, the temperature will be between 5 and 9 degrees, according to the weatherman. I can always hope he is wrong. I believe it will be colder when Tina gets off work at 9:00 a.m. then when she goes to work 5:00 a.m. It takes her about 25 minutes to get to work.

Today Tina and I had our nails done, then our hair done, then took some things to Jerry to give to Diana when she dropped things off at his house. She leaves things and picks things up in the driveway so as not to spread her bug. We ordered eggs and she will leave them at his house. I took her books and a few things that she needed. She says she feels o.k. but is extremely tired. I understand that takes six to eight weeks to go away.

Our weekend plans are to stay home and stay warm, which means sweat pants and shirts, and sweaters and warm socks. Don’t forget the warm fuzzy pj’s. and furry slippers. I have all of that. Tina has a new wool stocking cap with a cute pom pom on top and fur lined gloves so she will be stylishly warm. It will be a hot soup, hot cocoa, hot tea and hot coffee kind of day. Winter is defiantly here..

I hope you have a fantastic rest of your day and weekend. Make it three days of productivity, positivity, pleasantry, healthy and safety.

Blessings
