WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2024

A bitter cold morning but a sunny and tolerable afternoon. We nearly made it to 45 degrees this afternoon, but started at 18 degrees. The weather person says that tomorrow will be worse, temperature wise as another front is moving in. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas is on its way.

This evening we have crafts so have been busy getting things ready for that. We won’t meet again until January, 2025. I believe then we will start making blankets for the nursing homes and such. We have been asked to do so. That will be a worthwhile project. I believe that will be the 2nd Wednesday evening as we can’t get to it before all the Christmas stuff is put away until next November Good Friday………, November 28th, 2025.

The good holiday programs are coming on now, so I believe we will be watching them. Last night was the Country Music Christmas show. It was good. Tonight is the tree lighting in New York City, with a ton of stars at that, so we will watch it after we get home. There seems to be something special on every evening up until Christmas Eve. That is not saying we will watch them all.

Today there have been several news people and politicians taking a look at the damage from the September Hurricane Helene, and all the damage that it caused so many people in North Carolina and Here in Tennessee. There are still so many without homes or the necessities that they need. There are still places in North Carolina that can’t be reached. They are working with pack animals to reach so man people, taking food, medicine, tents, clothes, etc. There are barrels all over the stores and shopping centers asking for food, clothes, blankets, tents, and toys for the children. Several places and people have donated tiny houses for so many, especially the elderly. Tents and campers, etc. All are needed and appreciated, especially with the frigged weather we are having now. I feel so bad for all going through this here and then all in California who are living through the aftermath of the devastating fires. So many people, companies, etc. have donated money, labor, whatever they could. People who are builders, plumbers, construction workers , electricians, etc. are needed badly and so many have stepped up. WE have donated coats, clothes, food and money, and wish we had the ability to be physically able to help.

Quote of the day: “One of the most wonderful things about knowing God is that there’s always so much more to know, so much more to discover. Just when we least expect it, He intrudes into our neat and tidy notions about who he is and how He works.” Joni Eareckson Tada, 1949 – American Writer, Speaker.

Time to get with the dinner thing. Have a great rest of your Wednesday. Make it a productive, cheerful, adventurous and fun one.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2024

December and winter have arrived. It is 3:32 p.m., partly sunny, and 34 degrees outside. It is certainly time to dig out the heavy jackets, the snow boots, the gloves, scarves, sweaters, and whatever else is needed to keep warm while outdoors putting up the Christmas lights, the sleigh and reindeer, Santa and his elves, all heading upwards from the rooftop. While outdoors, remember to fill the bird feeders as our feathered friends get nighty hungry also.

Yesterday I spent in Knoxville. I had a physical (the six months thing), so Tina dropped me off at Dottie’s ‘on her way to work. Dottie took me to the doctor, waited while I answered all the questions and all that goes with a physical. The doctor said O.K. Very good. You have lost 15 pounds. Keep up the good work. See you in six months! We then went back to Dottie’s and had breakfast. She prepared sausage, biscuits, gravy and scrambled eggs. So good. Also coffee. The coffee was the starter I needed to wake up, only had to wait until after the doctor as it was a “fasting physical”! The food was wonderful as I was hungry. She is a good cook as well as hostess.

We didn’t do much except visit and watch a bit of TV. Max got to go out a couple of times, but he wasn’t much in staying out in the freezing weather. His curly coat isn’t that thick or warm when the temperature says 39 degrees. So he would get in, find his nice warm blanket and curl up in it. So cute.

Thanksgiving was wonderful. So much to be thankful for each and every day. The dinner table was set so pretty, so elegant, with care and love. Dinner was fantastic. We had Turkey, Ham, mashed potatoes ( so over the top delicious), sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs, green beans, corn bread stuffing, sourdough bread/cranberry/cheese dish, (very good) pumpkin pie, apple pie, pineapple upside down cake, lemon cake, gingerbread pear cake, and I can’t remember what else. All was so wonderful and I was totally stuffed. I was a good girl and remembered that I had a physical on Monday morning and that would have a blood test which would tell whatever I ate that I shouldn’t of, so only had a small sliver of the pumpkin pie and a small sliver of the gingerbread cake. Every little bite was yummy!

Friday Tina had to go to work. Jerry came over and took the tons of decoration bins out of the shed and set up both trees. He also picked me up as I feel on my knees and couldn’t get myself up. That really hurt my ego and my knees. He left, I called Dottie and we chatted. As we were chatting I got to where I couldn’t breath so told her that and I pushed the button on my help chain and got the ambulance. Of course they gave me a nice bumpy ride to the hospital, restored my breathing, (my oxygen was at 88%) and left me. Very soon I was in a room with nurses, aides, chest x-ray, arm and leg x-ray, EKG, blood tests, and Tina and Jerry. Dottie took care of calling Jerry who, came back out and after following the ambulance to the hospital, called Tina. After all of that the good doctor said that all x-rays were good, no broken bones and my lungs were clear and good. The blood test showed I had an infection someplace but they couldn’t tell where. I decided it was the start of a sinus infection, maybe. Since my granddaughter and her family have had virus pneumonia, I thought it might be that but the doctor said no. I am much better now and do believe I will be able to continue with all that needs to be done in the few short days before Christmas.

Saturday and Sunday Tina worked her fingers to the bone doing the decorating and fixing meals, as well as attending to Sierra who was helping whole heartedly in the decorating. I enjoyed watching, snoozing and offering a tiny bit of help.

So now it is Tuesday and I am back at the desk, the computer and working on the cards and such. i have to get them ready for the Bible Study group and the Crafty Crafters. That will keep me busy for the next day or so.

Quote of the day: “Truth is always exciting. Speak it, then. Life is dull without it.” Pearl S. Buck, 1892 – 1973. American Writer, Nobel Prize Winner. What you say goes, God, and stays, as permanent as the heaven. Your truth never goes out of fashion; it’s up -to-date as the earth when the sun comes up. Your Word and the truth are dependable as ever. Psalm 119: 89 – 91.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Make it an enjoyable, exciting, ambitious and fun day.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVE! I am having a hard time believing that it is the end of November, 2024! This year has sped by so fast. It has been a busy year, and eventful year, and it has had its ups and downs, peaks and valleys. Just one month and 34 more days until we will be welcoming in the year 2025!

Yesterday the Computer didn’t want to be kind and let me do my blog, so I just quit fighting it and said, ” Tomorrow it will let me….maybe. So here I am…again. Today I managed to get the shots in my back! So nice. I am almost a new person! I should be back at it full swing by morning. I need to be as we have a lot to do and Tina only has one day off, tomorrow! She need to get some relaxation in there and sit back and enjoy the Macy Day Parade. I want to get the stuff from the shed in and stash it in the TV room.

I have asked Jerry to come over on Friday and get the Christmas Tree set up in the Craft room. So, I want everything out of his way so he has room. I want to bring in all the totes and stuff with the Christmas ornaments in so that the shed is close to empty and all that possibly remains in there is the tree. He has the new one to set up in the living room also. Tina bought a 7 foot white, more sledder one to hang her Painted Pony’s on. I think she is going to need a whole herd of pony’s, but we shall see.

We can decorate after the trees get up. But Saturday, I believe we are going to check out this new store that Tammy and Dottie found, called the Ole Time Pottery. That should be so fun. It will be a busy weekend as I believe we are going to go see “Wicket'”! I think I spelled that correctly. Add the decorating to that plus Christmas Cards and letters, birthday cards and whatever else comes along.

Now, it is 54 degrees, 9:23 p.m., cloudy and rain in the forecast starting around midnight. Time for the Quote of the day: Gratitude is the memory of the heart; therefore forget not to say often, I have all I have ever enjoyed.” Lydia Marie Child, 1802 – 1880, American Abolitionist, writer. Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love and His kindness go on forever. 1Cronicles 16:34.

Have a great rest of your Wednesday and a very Happy, Thanksgiving. Fill your table with all the good foods gathered throughout the year, and have seated at your table family, friends, acquaintances, and whomever is in need of a good meal, kind people and warm hearts. I Pray Jesus is sitting at your table, watching over you and showering you with blessings.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2024

Cloudy, cool, spitting rain, pre-winter-ish. Yes, we are to have a cold, cloudy, rainy, messy week, weather wise. But, that is O.K. as we have had so many pretty, warm days when the rest of the country was suffering with bad weather events. So, no complaints here. Right now, it is 56 degrees at 5:10 p.m.

Tina is on her way home from work and Sierra is sitting on the back of the couch, waiting for her. As soon as she hits the back door, Sierra will fly off the couch and hustle her bustle to the back door to greet her and tell her all about the day. She is ass good at that as a puppy dog.

The weekend was great! Tevia arrived late Friday afternoon along with her brother Chael and her “papa”, Jerry. Chael has grown leaps and bounds so is quite the young man now. He is good looking, cheerful, fun, and very talented with the computer games. It was so fun seeing him. Tina couldn’t get over how tall he is and already 13 speeding towards 14. His brother, Deagan is 15 and about to hit that big 16 in one month and 11 days! He is working towards saving for his car insurance and gas for the car. I believe he gets one of their older cars. It seems so unreal that these babies are no longer babies, but teens and almost teens.

Tevia, who is 11 going more slowly towards 12, is a very pretty, sweet girl. WE had such a fun and nice time with her. She had mentioned things that she wanted to do when she visited so we left it up to her and she asked if she could… and, of course, …she could. Friday evening, we watched TV for a bit, then Tina went to bed. Tevia and I played Yahtzee until 11:15 p.m. then called it a night.

Saturday, when asked what she would like for breakfast she said pancakes. So Aunt Tuna fixed Blueberry pancakes. After breakfast Tina and Tevia made blankets. I believe she enjoyed that as they made three tie blankets. She caught on quickly and i am sure she will be making tie blankets of her own soon.

She had mentioned that she wanted to cook. So I told her that she could invite Jerry, Tammy and Chael for dinner, and she could prepare the dinner. When asked what she wanted to fix, she said tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. So, she called and invited them. They said that they were busy but that were inviting us three to their place for dinner. When asked what they were serving, the responded was chicken from SUPER CHICKS!.

We had tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch! After lunch Tevia and I cleaned all of my earrings. Boy, do they shine and sparkle now. They needed it badly and I am very appreciative of her doing that. She also removed all the books from the bottom shelf of the book case. I have wanted to get that done for a long time, but can’t get on my knees to get down there and do it correctly. So that was a gigantic accomplishment.

She and Tina did diamond art and I believe she enjoyed that. I think that is something that will go along with her crocheting of the small animals. She played games on the console and we visited and just enjoyed. It was so fun. We went to Jerry’s for a 6:00 p.m. dinner. It is always very lively over there, more so with two kids to go along with the 5 dogs. Very loud, very cheerful, very fun. Dinner was very good and both Tina and thought we should remember that place. She said the chicken was as goo, if not better, then CANES! That is saying something.

Tevia stayed at Jerry and Tammy’s Saturday night as Jerry took her and Chael to meet their parents Saturday morning. We sure missed her, but so thankful we got to spend time with her and enjoy her company. I hope we get to do so again soon.

Sunday Tina and i went to church, then grocery shopping. Home, put groceries away, did some computer work and watched TV. Jerry and Tammy came over an brought a very tall book case that Tina said would help separate the books and give room. It sure does. Jerry and Tammy took our smaller one up stairs and put it in the guest room. Today I got it put in place and that room back in order and looking like a guest room instead of the “throw it in here” room.

I had a doctor’s appointment today. I thought it was at 3:45 p.m. this afternoon but it was at 9:40 this morning. Why I had 3:45 p.m .in my head I don’t know. That is the second time I have done that and missed a doctor’s appointment, with the same doctor. Now I go Wednesday morning at 9:40. I will make that one.

Quote of the day: ” Faith is the first factor in a life devoted to service. Without faith, nothing is possible. With it, nothing is impossible.” Mary McLeod Bethune, 1875 – 1955, American Educator, Writer.

I hope you had a great weekend and a wonderful Monday. Make the rest of your day a cheerful, productive, kind, generous, and fun day.
