The last week of August, close to the end of summer. Today is the 230th day of the year, leaving 127 left in the year of 2024. Time sure does fly. So today we have a breeze, lots of sunshine, with 89 degrees at 4:21 p.m. Not to shabby for a late August day.

The weekend was busy. Tina worked four hours on Saturday. I rode in to Knoxville with her. She dropped me off at Dottie’s as we were going shopping when she got off work. Dottie and I visited, catching up on everything since we hadn’t seen each other for a couple of weeks. When Tina got there we started out. First thing Tina needed to do was get the car charged. Normally she gets that done at home but sometime during the night the power went off, Tina’s phone updated and somehow or other messed everything up. So, we found a Tetra charging station and got the car charged up in no time. I admired at the price as it was $12.00 to charge it up to 80 %. That is the most you can charge it up to. Much less expensive then a tank of gas.

After that we went to Joanne’s for the blanket kits. They are still on sale. Tina got 4 this time. I am so excited that there are so many people interested in this project. The plan is 100 tie blankets for children, and they will all go to the Children’s Hospital in Knoxville. I am also quite surprised at how many ladies have no idea what a tie blanket. I thought the whole world knew about them and was making them.

After that we went to lunch at Twin peaks. It was loud, but had good food. It is a sports bar and grill. The food was good, but to be able to hear , sitting outside would of been a better choice. Lesson learned.

Then to Walmart, where we got a bunch of pictures printed. Then back to Dottie’s, where Max gave her a good “barking to for leaving him”. Then back to Oak Ridge, a stop at Hobby Lobby, a stop at Bo Jangles for chicken, and finally home. Not much to carry in and that was good. We were looking for electric scissors but no place we were at had them. I guess they can be bought on line. I Googled them and there are plenty on line. One of the ladies who wants to work with the blankets thinks that they would work swell cutting then fleece, but I don’t think so. We shall see. I have a pair and I can try it out.

Sunday was church, grocery shopping, and home. The rest of the day was spent putting groceries away and relaxing. We binged watched N.C.S.I. Old ones for sure. Dinner was leftover chicken from Saturday evening. So good.

Now it is close to time for Tina to get home. I had lunch with the bible study group at a small Mexican restaurant here in Oak Ridge. There are at least 6 Mexican Restaurants here.

Quote of the day: “The music soars within the little lark, And the lark soars.” Elizabeth Barrett Browning, 1806 – 1861, British Poet. “You have done so much for me O Lord. No wonder I am glad! I sing for joy. O Lord, what miracles You do! And how deep are your thoughts!” Psalm 92: 4-5

Have a great rest of your Monday. Make it enjoyable, productive, Pleasant, safe and fun.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2024

Sunny, Breezy, white fluffy clouds floating around, 85 Degrees at 4:42 p.m. Another nice August day. i understand that it will be in the 90s tomorrow so should enjoy the 80s today. It is still summer so the 90s aren’t out of the question.

yesterday morning I cut my finger. Not a bad nor a big cut. Just a small cut on the side by the nail. It bled, I washed it, put Neoprene on it and a bandage on it. Again and again. Today I added one of the rubber fingers to it, and it still kept slipping off. This last time I left the Neoprene off and hopefully it will stay on for the evening at least. I also have a longer finger and that might help. I didn’t know they came in all sizes in one package. It is one of those cuts that bleeds like like you cut a main artery. Every time you barely bump it, it opens up and bleeds. Now, every where I have been is Lysol clean.

Nothing else exiting going on around here today. Tina is going shopping at COSCO when she gets off work, so we won’t have that to do tomorrow. We ill go to Joanne’s for blanket kits, and to Walmart to develop pictures. Other then that I have no clue what we will do. Dottie will be with us and that makes it fun. Hopefully she will have someplace she wants to go, or needs to go. Once one has been to Walmart, all Walmart’s’ are about the same. Maybe Trader Joe’s as they have good veggies and frozen foods. Or maybe the Paint Tree as that is an interesting place, lots of crafts that are very nice.

What are your plans for this weekend? I hope fun things, interesting places, good company, home improvements or hobbies. What ever you do, make it fun.

Have a great rest of your Friday and a fantastic, safe, healthy and fun weekend.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 22, 2024

Today this is early as I am going to Harriman with Tina, who has an eye appointment there. I am not sure what time we will get back so will day “HI” now.

It is another pretty day. The temperature is a bit higher then yesterday at this time, 76 degrees and the breeze is very light. So nice outdoors. Sierra is lying in front of the front door watching a snail crawl by. If she is lucky the squirrel will stop by and visit. He has been by once this afternoon, so maybe he will be by on his return trip back to his tree. I do believe all the birds, squirrels, and bugs are on their afternoon siesta. The snail made it to the flowerbed.

Crafts last evening was fun. There were eight of us there, I did coloring, Tina did Diamond Art, one lady knitted, two ladies crochet and two just visited. The main topic of conversation was the tie blanket project and how it was coming along. One lady brought four blankets to be made a she is going to be having hip surgery so won’t be able to be there to put the blankets together. Tow will defiantly come and tie, and asked where to get the blankets. Joann’s is the best place as the kids size ids on sale. Hobby Lobby is way to expensive plus they don’t have the kits. So far it is going good. These blankets will go to the children at the Children’s hospital in Knoxville.

Other then that, it was just visiting about this and that. I learned that the Senior Center has bunko once a week. I don’t play bunko. The America Legion also plays bunko once every other week. I still don’t play bunko. But I enjoy listening to all the things each place does and who goes to what. I am busy so don’t mind not belonging to everything. I like the craft group, and I like the bible study group so that is enough for me at this point.

Must go and get ready to go to Harriman. Tina will pick me up and head that way. it takes 30 to 45 minutes to get there depending on traffic.

Quote of the day: “I long to put the experience of fifty years at once into your young lives, to give you at once the key ti that treasure chamber every gem of which has cost me tears and struggles and prayers, but you must work for these inward treasures yourselves.” Harriet Beecher Stowe, 1811 – 1896, American Writer.

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a fun, cheerful, productive, positive, day.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21, 2024

A beautiful August day here in East Tennessee. The sun is shining, there is a breeze, and the temperature is 79 degrees. The time is 4:34 p.m. There are a few high, white, fluffy clouds drifting by, and it feels likre a hint of fall in the air. So perfect for a late August summer day.

This evening is Crafts. We enjoy the girls and their crafts are always well done and interesting. One lady paints on rocks, I beleave river rock, fairly small, round or oblong, and smooth. The paints small creatures, crosses, suns, stick people, etc. on the rocks, then goes hiking along a trail and every so often she leaves a rock for someone to find and she hopes that it brightens their day. She does really good work and her subjects are perfect.

Another lady does weaving, and brings her small loom and makes scarves and small hats, etc. They are pretty and/or cute, depending o what she is making. When she doesn’t bring her loom, she crochets. And makes scarves, hats, etc. Two ladies knit, three or more crochet, two do diamond art, and I hopefully, will be doing latch work. I have to get what I want to make. As it is now, I do coloring. I have a dozen coloring books and more pencils then carter has liver pills. I could do diamond art as well, but really don’t want to start that until I get some other things done that have been started.

Pamela came over this morning and we played yathzee. She one one game and I won one game. It is fun and we enjoy playing. Since she got married and moved I don’t see her very much . That makes the visiting and games more enjoyable. I also don’t get to see her dogs very often either. Roxy and Buttercup. She now has two cats and I think they are really cute, but have only seen pictures of them. One is Frost and the other one’s name I don’t know. She always says the kitten.

Quote time: “We never know how high we are till we are called to rise; And then, if we are true to plan, our statures touch the skies.” Emily Dickinson, 1830-1886, American Poet. Finally…whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things. Philippians 4:8-9

Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday. Make it a pleasant, relaxing, positive, cheerful and fun day.
