Another warm summer day here in Oak Ridge. It is 3:33 p.m. and 92 Degrees. Not a leaf is string, so no breeze. I did see a small lizard crawl across the sidewalk out front. I think the pavement is hot as he was going pretty fast. The lizards here are pretty , a deep blue stripe down the middle of their back and the rest is like a sliver gray. I do believe that they are harmless but I don’t bother them so don’t really know. Sierra would like to get better acquainted but I refuse to let them meet face to face. There is always a glass door between them.

Today was laundry day. One day I will get it back to Monday’s and that might put me back on schedule. As it is, today was fine. Next Monday the hot water heater is due to be installed and the old weepy one removed. I am sure that it will be happy to be retired. I know I will be re leaved to have a new one in here. I sure hope this one lasts until then. I do not want to mop up a lake.

Nothing else is going on. Sierra is waiting for Tina to come home. She is at the back door, looking out and watching for Tina. It is fun to watch her greet Tina when she comes in the door. Sierra has all kinds of things to tell her and questions to ask. Also, being petted is first and foremost. In some ways she is like a puppy dog, glad to see you and wanting the first words and petting, She is so fun.

This evening is Crafts so will make this short and get on with dinner. No being lazy this evening.

Quote of the day: “Choices can change our lives profoundly. the choice to mend a broken relationship, to say “yes” to a difficult assignment, to lay aside some important work to play with a child, to visit some forgotten person – these small choices may affect many lives eternally.” Gloria Gaither, 1942 – American Writer, Singer/songwriter.

Have a great rest of your Wednesday. Make it a super fun, enjoyable, relaxing summer day.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 6, 2024

A sunshine and Roses type of day. Well, not roses as the only flowers in front are geraniums, hibiscus, and a pretty yellow flower that I am not sure what the name is. There are a few high, fluffy clouds floating around, just looking pretty. Not even a breeze at the moment. The temperature is 92 degrees and the time is 5:30 p.m.

It has been a busy day around here. I had a 9:00 a.m. doctor appointment to get a few moles froze off. After that I dropped some stuff off at Karns, then home. I left here at 8:20 a.m. and arrived at the doctor’s at 9:00 on the dot. I do believe that the car misses Tina as we hit nearly every red light between here and there. I would say that it is about ten miles.

When I got home I went to the computer and started writing one of my stories. i completed it just in time to get ready to go to the shoulder doctor appointment. That was at 2:00 p.m. I left here at 1:35 as it isn’t as far. I still hit half the red lights. Once there I had to drive around the parking lot several times just to get a parking space. There were four of us cars, circling back and forth. I finally spied a car backing our of a space so I pulled in as she was pulling out. So happy. I got up to the doctor’s office at 1:59 p.m. I filled out the paperwork which everyone has to do each time they go there. I guess I had to wait for about 5 minutes. The doctor said he would give me steroid shots in both shoulders if I wanted them but if they weren’t bothering me all that much I could call and he would get me in for them then. So I go back in November just to see how they are doing and if I need the shots or possible surgery. So far so good. I am happy as long as I don’t have to have surgery, and the shots.

This evening I think we will be watching some of the Olympics as Tina taped some last night. Then I believe it is bed and a book. I think I saw the Olympic games that she taped yesterday, live, so might skip that and head up to bed and my book. We shall see. The book is a mystery, “A Marathon of Kindness” and I have another one, “Sweeping out the Attic.” That is a autobiography from a man here in Oak Ridge and it is more of a humorous book I beleave. More on that after I read it.

Now it is time for the Quote of the day: “Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply; to enjoy simply; to think freely; to risk life; to be needed.” Storm (Margaret) Jameson, 1891 -1956. British Writer. The following: The Lord your God…will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 NIV

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Make it a Taco Tasty, water safety, cheerful and fun day.

MONDAY, AUGUST 5, 2024

A lovely summer day here in East Tennessee. No clouds, no rain, some wind, and plenty of sunshine. At this moment it is 91 degrees and the time is 5:10 p.m. How is it in your neck of the woods?

We had a good weekend. The house got a bit of attention, watched some of the Olympics, paid a visit to Walmart, ( we wouldn’t want them to forget us). Sunday was church, which was good as usual, then we picked Dottie up and went to lunch. After Hamburgers at Wendy’s we went to Jerry and Tammy’s. Their new floors look lovely. They did the work themselves and did a fabulous job. Tammy has put some very nice runners in the walkway between the living room and dining room which help with the dogs and their sliding on the floors. I believe their is one going through the kitchen also.

It was fun to sit and visit with them and to play with the dogs. They were mostly into being petted and having belly rubs as they were so hot. But, attention is most important and we made sure they each got their share from us. Lacy was my special pup for the day as she stayed right up on me. She is a sweet puppy dog and I didn’t mind at all. I was going to bring her home with us but they reminded me that she barks at every stop sign, stop light and at anything driving by. So, I changed my mind.

We took Dottie home and Tina went in and visited with Max a minute. I stayed in the car as she was parked in the driveway, blocking the people who live behind. I will go in one day and visit with Max and Dottie. Max and Tina have a special bind it seems. I won’t park in the driveway.

Today, I have spent upstairs, cleaning my bathroom. What should of taken maybe 30 minutes but has taken me all day. I did empty and clean out every cupboard, drawer, nook and cranny, which all took time. Then I went to vacuum the floor and the hose spews dirt and dust all over, so had that to clean up. I had to go downstairs and get the other vacuum to do that. Then mop.

I had an e-mail from Glenda. she said that she had helped a friend with her yard sale. It reminded her that she wasn’t going to bring anything new into her home as her family would just have to get rid of it when she has passed on. but that would also be cheating a lot of folks out of a fun day of yard saleing.

Pamela came over for a few to show me her hair cut. It looks so nice. I was shocked that she got it cut as it was so long and flowed so pretty. It is still pretty but not as long, just shoulder length now. I am sure it will grow fast.

Quote of the day: “Love is something like the clouds that were in the sky before the sun came out. You cannot touch the clouds, you know; but you feel the rain and know how glad the flowers and the thirsty earth are to have it after a hot day. You cannot touch love either; but you feel the sweetness that it pours into everything.” Anne Sullivan, 1866-1936, American Educator. Noted as Helen Keller’s teacher.

Have a great rest of your Monday. Make it a cheerful, kind, adventurous, productive, and fun day.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 2, 2024

Another day of mixed weather…Rain, Clouds, Sunshine, Wind, and then start all over again. We had a couple good storms over night with thunder, lightening, rain, then quiet for a bit, and here it came again. The lightening lit up my bedroom which woke me up, briefly, then the thunder came and the rain. We had a couple more showers this morning. Not it is windy, mostly cloudy with the sun weakly showing here and there. I am sure we shall get another storm sometime between now and 8:00 p.m.

I just talked to son Jimmy who said that they have had some pretty rough weather in Yuma. He said there was strong winds that toppled trees, took off a few shed roofs, and raised havoc around town. It took part of their lemon tree so they now have to cut it down. And, they have had rain and more rain. Now it is hot, 114, and humid there. He said that it was the monsoon season.

Son Jerry was here this afternoon and put up the fired detector in the upstairs hall. We so appreciate him and his help with the things we aren’t able to accomplish. He also assembled and put in place the shower caddie. I have had a small little plastic stand in there since we had that room remodeled and finally remembered to get the stand on a spring that goes from shower floor to ceiling, with the three tray things to hold shampoo, etc. That is so much better, believe me.

No big plans for the weekend. We have plenty of projects around the house to work on so hope that we get a couple of them done. Sunday is church, and we might go see Jerry and Tammy’s new floors that they just completed. I am so eager to see them. And to play with the dogs. And, yes, there is a chance of rain again tomorrow.

Quote of the day: “Life is not intended to be simply a round of work, no matter how interesting and important that work may be. A moment’s pause to watch the glory of a sunrise or a sunset is soul satisfying, while a bird’s song will set the steps to music all day long.” Laura Ingalls Wilder, 1967 1957. American Children’s writer.

Have a wonderful rest of your Friday and weekend. Make it a adventuress, energetic, relaxing and fun weekend. Also safe.
