Another rainy/sunny day in East Tennessee. Right now it is 85 Degrees and the time is 7:56 p.m. For me, a late time to be doing the blog. We had crafts at church this evening, and it was fun and interesting. Two new ladies came, and they are from Las Vegas. One worked for Las Vegas Metro and the other for the City of Las Vegas. So fun to chat with.

The one who worked for Metro does rock painting. she paints cheerful pictures and sayings on fist size, maybe a bit bigger, rocks, then takes them and places them along trail in parks, the forest, etc. Just to make someone’s day a bit brighter. The other lady is doing Diamond Art. She is doing a very large one of Jesus with the crown of thorns on his head. That is going to be very pretty when she is done. The rest do the knitting and crocheting. I am still coloring for something to do. I need to do something more constructive I guess,

One of the ladies that comes every other week asked me to join the VFW woman’s Auxiliary, and the American Legion,. One of the other ladies said I should join the Senior Center because they go on trips all over. I told each one that I would think about it. It was fun listening to them chat about different things.

WE had a thunder storm in the middle of the night. The thunder woke me up and then it took forever to get back to sleep. So, today I didn’t do much at all. Now I am ready to call it a night.

Have a great evening, enjoy the last day of July, 2024. Make it a graceful, kind, relaxing, and fun evening.

MONDAY, JULY 29,2024

The sun is shining and the breeze is rustling the leaves on the trees. The American flag is gently swirling proudly. At the moment the rain has passed on and some other part of the state is getting watered. I am told it will be back tonight, complete with thunder and lightening. A summer storm. I do see the clouds in the distance, but right now they don’t look to threatening.

The weekend was rather quiet. It was also rather rainy. We had some pretty good downpours that left full puddles and very wet yards. pouches, etc. We need the rain so that is good. Dollywood, on the other hand got flooded. Their guests were wading , in some places, waist deep, even in the shops. The parking lot had water up over the tires in some parts. All in all, it was a mess. I was so thankful we weren’t there.

We went to Home Goods, looked around, than to Ross’s and looked around. Not a day to shop and found nothing we were looking for. Then we went to Food City and got groceries. Stopped at Habitat for Humanity and looked through there, then came home. We are slowly looking for a small, but high table that is about 1 1/2 foot wide and 30 inch to set on the wall by the back door, to set purses or such on, and more importantly, where Sierra can sit and watch out the glass door. Nothing fancy or expensive. We found one, but it was way to heavy, and expensive for what we want it for. It had brass legs and a marble top!

For dinner Sunday, I put a roast in the crockpot, added onion, Lipton Onion Soup mix, three or four dashes of Worcestershire Sauce, and 1/3 cup of water. I added baby carrots and petite potatoes about half way through the cooking time. It turned out so good. I put the roast in the crockpot frozen and it came out fantastic.

We did watch the start of the Olympics. That was something! Very interesting and entertaining. And we have watch some of the events. I enjoy the gymnastics most, and the US team is fantastic. I was sorry the one girl didn’t make it. She was very good but had to many missteps. We will be watching on and off through the whole thing. We did record it, so won’t miss much.

Quote of the day: “Don’t let controversy hurt your soul. Live near to God by prayer. Just fall down at His feet and open your very soul before Him, and throw yourself right into His arms.” Catherine Booth, 1829 – 1890, British Evangelist. First woman Salvation Army General.

Have a great rest of your Monday. Make it a great, positive, productive and fun day.

FRIDAY, JULY 26, 2024

A cloudy and warm day. No rain, slight breeze and 85 Degrees. the time is 3:58 p.m. The sun is trying to peek out through the clouds but it is weak and not quite able to get to far. Maybe tomorrow. No rain due until Sunday.

It seems funny to have it be July and the school buses dropping kids off at the school bus stop here. Oak Ridge schools started last Monday. Knoxville schools start next week. I wonder whatever happened to school starting right after Labor Day (September) and ending just before Memorial Day (May)?? At one time year round school was a choice. I believe now it is a normal school calendar time. At least it seems like it around here. Its’ not a bad thing. The kids don’t forget as much doing it this way and they get more breaks during the school year.

This evening we get to watch the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics. I believe it will be interesting to watch then float down the river on decorated barges. So different from the normal parade that they usually start the Olympics with. So many Americans are there to watch and partake in the historic event. So many citizens of France won’t make it due to the fast trains being terrorized last night. There was a fire and I am not sure what else, but the announcer said that it would be Monday before all the trains would be back running. This is a sad start to the gala events of the next two weeks.

The weekend is here, and we have no plans. It seems unusual to not have something going on someplace. Jerry and Tammy will be continuing the laying of their new floors. The downstairs is going to be so beautiful with the new floors. I doubt they will be covered with Dallas’s hair. She shed the worst of the five dogs, I believe. I know that dust mopping, sweeping and vacuuming up all that hair is easier on the floor then on the carpet. Sierra sheds a lot also, and it is easier to clean up down here on the floor then upstairs on the carpet.

As for us, we will be doing odd jobs around the house, playing on the computer, watching TV and reading. Church on Sunday. What exciting plans do you have?

Quote of the day: “Allow your dreams a place in your prayers and plans. God-given dreams can help you move into the future. He is preparing for you.” Barbara Johnson, 1927 – 2007 American Writer, Speaker.

Have a great rest of your Friday, and a joyful, adventurous, relaxing and fun weekend.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 24, 2024

A mostly rainy day, temperature right now is 73 degrees, high humidity, and the time is 4:41 p.m. A nice summer day. The grass is looking much better as are the trees and shrubs. We still need rain though. I guess it takes a lot to keep all the forests, lakes, rivers and streams beautiful.

I am not continuing my Nashville story until I go through the pictures and get things correct. Yesterday I said it was the Knight Riders car. In truth it is the Smokey and the Bandit’s car. The Chevrolet Bonneville belonged to Web Peirce and had the pistol car door handles, shotgun or riffle fenders. What a neat car. I knew the make of the car and all, but couldn’t remember who it belonged to. At any rate, I will do a bit more studying of the pictures I took and then pick up from there.

Today I have been busy cleaning out the space under the stairs where our hot water heater is located. It is showing major signs of wearing out. Jerry said that if all went well he would be over this weekend and we could drain it and see if that would prolong its’ life for a couple of months. From the paperwork I found in there I believe it is about 25 years old. That is a pretty long life for a hot water heater, I believe.

We aren’t going to Crafts this evening due to 1. rain, 2. don’t want to drag all the stuff out and back in, 3. tired. It has been a busy day, and week, and month. Next week will be better as there will be more people there. Three or four of the members play Bunco tonight so won’t be there. One lives in Clinton so probably won’t be there due to the rain. The other one probably won’t be there due to rain as she lives up on the hill.

Yesterday we had a fugitive running loose around here so was in the house with the doors locked all day. They caught him late yesterday afternoon, about a mile or two from the house. Today I have had the doors open and sure have enjoyed it. Our screen doors are solid glass. Outside of cleaning them, I love them.

Quote of the day: “If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” Anne Bradstreet, 1612 – 1672. American Writer.

Have a wonderful Wednesday evening. Enjoy the rain, or sunshine or whatever your weather is. In only 60 days Autumn will arrive and the weather will change. Time sure flies when one is having fun. Make your evening a adventurous, relaxing, interesting and fun one.
