I am sorry that I haven’t been up with the blog. I managed to get the bug that is going around and it really kicked my booty. Today I feel a lot better so will get a short blog out and see how it goes.

Weather is cold but sunny today. We got the snow last Saturday and there is still a bunch left, especially out back by the carport entrance. We don’t get much sun back there. Right now it is 39 degrees at 4:16 p.m., No breeze and no clouds. So pretty. My plants are sure enjoying the sun, and Sierra was enjoying laying in the window soaking it up this morning.

Tonight is crafts. Tina is going but I’m staying home and behaving myself. I really want to get over this stuff and going out in the night air wouldn’t help me much. Besides, I don’t want to share any bugs with anyone else, nor catch one of their bugs. I want to be bug free!

Since I have been staying home, and not doing much, I have napped a great deal, watched TV and that is about it. I haven’t read much at all which is defiantly not like me. Usually I would of read a book or two by now. So, I don’t know much new, even from around here.

Wah’s Household Hint of the day: “Veggie Bin: A clean cellulose sponge kept in the Vegetable bin of the refrigerator will absorb excess moisture.”

Have a great rest of your hump day. Make it a cheerful, adventurous, healthy and fun day.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 7, 2025

Good winter afternoon. I hope this finds you well and enjoying the season. Here, it is a cold day but no snow or rain. they say that will come Friday and Saturday. So I am sure all the kids are excited about having snow, sledding, snowball fights and just the magic of a snowy day. I, too, think it is beautiful, especially when I can sit inside and watch it as I sip hot tea while curled up in a warm cozy blanket. Of course, that is just a dream.

Today Pamela came over and visited a bit. We played 2 games of Yahtzee. It was fun. She is getting ready to go back to school to get her Masters, so that will keep her very busy for a year or so. Working and going to school is quite a bit, then add in home life with five fur babies to help with everything. Her husband will help a whole lot, but the fur babies don’t understand when it is school time, so that will keep the whole thing interesting.

I am still fighting this “Allergy” stuff that Tina had and I somehow got. The coughing is the worse, but the runny nose comes in a close second with sneezing right behind it. Years ago I thought buying stock in the klenex Company was a good idea. I wish we had as I probably would either have a good income from it or else get free klenex for life. As it is, I just help support them by buying klenex by the six boxes at a time package. I must say, Tina helps with that also. She is much better and at work, keeping busy, and warm.

I have decided to use some of my Mom, (her grandchildren called her “Wah”)household hints instead of quotes. She had a tablet, small, pocket size, that she wrote household hints in. I think that, since she is no longer with us, and that the tablet is now mine, I should share it with others and even though a few of them will be something use in days gone by, many will still be helpful now. And who know, maybe a laugh or two will emerge from them.

House hold Hint of the Day: ” White spots and water rings are caused by excess wax, (on furniture) and can be removed with a rubbing compound. Use any brand tooth paste and mix with a little baking soda. This won’t harm the finish on the furniture. Dampen a cotton cloth well and squeeze out excess water than put a little of the compound on the cloth and rub the spot til it disappears. It may take 3 to 15 minutes of rubbing, depending on how deep the moisture has penetrated the finish. Use a clean dry cloth to wipe away all the compound that is left and buff for luster.”

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Make it a cheerful, adventurous, and fun day.

JANUARY 6, 2025

It is a wintery day for sure. We have had wind, rain, sun, and snow. When I got up this morning at 5:00 a.m., it was 39 degrees, now, at 4:50 p.m. it is 30 degrees. It is overcast and breezy. And Cold. It will be very cold tonight, and through the week into next week. I do believe winter is here to stay for a bit.

We got out new window in the living room today. The thought of putting it off for a day or two didn’t sound good as the weather isn’t going to warm up for awhile and there seems to be storm upon storm for the next week or so, So they came and installed them today. What a day’s work that turned out to be for them. The old windows didn’t want to leave so they had to work with each one. They did one window at a time, take the old one out and put the new one in. Putting in the new one seemed easier then taking the old one out. They arrived at about 9:45 a,m, and left here at about 4:00 p.m. They are the nicest couple. They have been doing this together for 23 years. They have been married for 30 plus years. It sure is nice, looks nice and neat, and the windows are so clean and nice…I can see clearly…outside now. Great for watching puppy dogs walking their masters, or mistresses.

I had an e-mail from the Secretary of State (Nevada) Election Department requiring me to tile 2024 CE report, due by January 15, 2025 11:59 p.m. Failure to do so would carries a fine for each violation up to $10,000.00.

I emailed them back telling them that I moved from Searchlight Nevada in 2017 and from Nevada Nevada in 2018. I hope that will set them straight. I can’t imagine that my name still comes up on their records . So weird.

Well, it is now dinner time and Tina is nearly home so will end this and prepare dinner. We are having beef veggie soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Winter fair.

Have a fun, adventurous, safe and dry rest of your Monday.

Blessings

JANUARY 2, 2025

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I am wishing you and yours a very Happy, Healthy, Prosperous, adventurous, and safe 2025.

The holiday season is over and hopefully things around here will return to somewhat of a normal schedule. Even Sierra is confused with meal time and bed time and the comings and goings, especially Tina and her work schedule. Instead of leaving at 6:00 she was leaving at 7:00, and returning home at the normal time. Unless, of course, she stopped for whatever reason. Monday things go back to normal for a bit. I am not sure if they will close for President Carter’s day of remembrance or not. That would make next week off kilter once again. What will be will be.

Christmas dinner was at Jerry and Tammy’s home. It was fun and the meal delicious. Jerry cooked the prime rib, while Tammy, Melissa and Dottie prepared the rest of the meal. All was so good. Of course the desserts were equally as good. Tammy made a pumpkin pudding type dish that was wonderful. There was also pumpkin pie, lemon meringue pie, pineapple upside down cake, and a cranberry orange bread. All so good. I believe they said that the calories were removed prior to serving.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 3, 2024

Welcome to the first Friday in the new year. My computer is acting up, or else the internet is acting up, so it kept cutting cut. So, you will get two days in one. Please enjoy.

I am very sadly reporting the loss of one of my friends of many years. Emily Harter passed away, I believe, New Years Day. She was a very talented lady, a great friend, a loving, kind, and giving person. She was a Christian, doing her bet to follow the Commandments. She was a retired teacher, and one of my most cherished critics when writing my stories. She kept reminding me that I went to school and did very well in English. I kept reminding her that I am the world’s wort speller. I am so thankful that she was in my life, and even though I will miss her greatly, I am pleased that she is a peace and rest now. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

The weather is acting very much like winter. It is cold, overcast and promising rain, snow mix, or one of each in the next three days. The mid west through the north is is getting the fridged temperatures now and also the snow. They are turning “white” as I type. Here, it hasn’t done anything so far, and probably won’t until later on or tomorrow. I believe a trip to Home Depot will occur today, just in case. We need a filter for the fridge and a light bulb for the new lamp I received for my desk. It takes a weird light bulb. I hope that we can get one as it would make a great desk lamp, I believe.

One of my gifts is a Weather X radio. I have to charge it, but will have it on once I get it charged. Weather has always interested me, so this will be a great tool to keep me informed on roads, storms, etc.

I also received a new watch that keeps me on my toes as it measures my steps, heart rate, EKG, and a few other things. It is fantastic. It goes well with the new warm up suite that I received, and the new sweater. I think all got together to make sure all went well together. So many nice and useful gifts, and my thanks to one and all.

Time to get busy around here. A lot to do since all the Christmas decorations are down and out of the house. Out comes the vacuum and dust cloth, and mop, They will be busy for a few hours today.

Quote of the day: “Its O.K. to call an avid reader a book worm, But, somehow calling a music buff a tape worm just doesn’t sound right.” From my Mom’s book if facts, household hints, and such.

All quotes will be from her notes and such, or mine. Enjoy!

Have a great Friday and a spectacular weekend. Stay warm and dry, healthy and safe.

Blessings
