TENNESSEE RIVER

Wednesday, September 15, 2021 mostly cloudy rain coming 81 degrees, breezy 4:00p.m.

A beautiful day, warm, nice, a bit breezy, sunny, then a cloud comes by, then sun again, on and off all day.

Today is Dotty’s birthday so I believe we are going to her house and wish her a happy Birthday, and, of course, take dinner. Tammy said she is baking the cake. I think it is her Birds Nest Cake. It should be fun. Tina is off tomorrow so she can sleep in if we get home late.

The tile is being laid in the bathroom today. They are working hard and I know it will be spectacular. I took pictures of the before so will take pictures of the after. We knew there would be a few surprises and there were, but not nearly as bad a I thought there would be. There was no mold and that was my biggest fear. Also no asbestos which was a minor fear. The place was built in 1981 so was fairly sure there wouldn’t be asbestos.

This morning the birds were out in force as was the chipmunk. They haven’t been around for a while. We have had the crows and sparrows, so I guess the cardinals and bluejays, etc, don’t hobnob with the crows. It was so nice seeing them and enjoying their antics. the chipmunk gets right in the middle and holds his own so the big birds just walk around him. I believe I need an outdoor camera to film all the wildlife that I don’t see. I know the deer come around here but have only once seen one in the neighbor’s yard. Our yards run together because there are no fences.

Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday. Make it a super fun, adventurous, energizing, productive and joyous day.

Blessings

WALKING BRIDGE AT McCLOUD LODGE AREA

Tuesday, September 14, 2021 Sunny, Few high wispy clouds 87 degrees 3:28 p.m.

All is well on the home front. Tina has gone to work Cats are napping, and the bathroom crew are still at it up there making lots of noise. I am getting more excited by the day the more they work. But I have to say, the tools they use are a bit noisy. I can stand it, just can’t talk on the phone and hear the other person very well. They have put up cement boards today and worked on the floor. They have the shower pan down so it is getting there. Yesterday afternoon they leveled the floor. That is probably the only level floor in the house.

Today I cleaned the bathroom and living room. It needed vacuuming badly as usual. That bathroom the cats seem to think is a play room so it gets de-furred daily. And the carpet in the living room is always in need of vacuuming and never looks like it has been touched. One day we will get that room done.

I am now thinking about doing arts and crafts with an eye towards Christmas. Dottie and I have thoughts of making as many things as we can, then renting a booth or having a yard ale or something like that and seeing what we can do. We figure it will be fun and something new and different for us. Here there are so many antique shops and boutiques that it is hard to figure out what way to go. I have found out that people here take beautiful old furniture in and they paint it battleship gray. Go figure.

Another thriving business here is yard work. There are several different people who come into this “village” with yard work equipment, mostly mowers and weed eaters and blowers. Of course, everyone has lots of grass and weeds, etc. Soon fall will arrive and the leaves will turn , then fall down so will have to be raked up. the city comes around every so often and picks up the gathered leaves. One rakes them to the curb and the city comes and gathers them. So nice, I think.

Have a terrific Tuesday. Keep it light, happy, positive, kind, cheerful, grateful and relaxing

Blessings

ONE OF THE ROAD SIGNS ON THE WAY UP TO THE McCLOUD Lodge.

Monday, September 13, 2021 sunny, slight breeze hot 85 degrees 5:47 p.m.

We are back to the summer weather for a few days. The next two days are to be close to 90, if not over, then we are to start cooling down, slowly. Rain by the weekend so they say. A beautiful day and all seem happy with the lovely weather.

The bathroom remodel is back in full swing. they got a lot done today including leveling the floor. Yes, it wa a bit uneven, like most of the floors back here. Tomorrow they will start laying tile. I can hardly wait for the room to be done as I think it will be lovely. There will be a lot of tile as the surround shower stall won’t be in stork for at least three weeks, so we are going with tile. Nice I think.

The sign above is one that is on the road up to McCloud Lodge. The road is about like that, too. A beautiful drive and fun. That is a defiantly NO DRINKING AND DRIVING road. So much to see and appreciate all the beauty as one drives along.

Today I went to the shoulder doctor. He took x-rays and said that there is a small bone spur and he thinks a small tear. He also saw what he thinks might be a crack there also. So interesting. I will have an MRI done on it on the 23rd to make sure that there is nothing major going on. He is very nice and though-al.

That is about it for today. A nice day and now time for the evening news. I always like the weather report.

Have a great rest of your Monday and be safe, healthy, happy and productive. My calendar asked a bunch of questions,. so I will ask you:

Have you been there for someone who was hurting?

Did you go out of your way just to be kind?

Were you willing to share your time and your talents?

Have a wonderful evening

Blessings

A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE AT McCLOUD LODGE, TENNESSEE

Thursday, September 9, 2021, Sunny Breezy 81 degrees 1:53 p.m.

The above is a scene from when we went to McCloud Resort for lunch/dinner last Saturday. We didn’t have the clouds, and could see the whole valley, but still, this is such a beautiful picture I wanted to share it. I am slowly getting a few pictures of the place and area.

Today is demo day of the upstairs hall bathroom. As with everything else in this house, there were surprises and a few challenges. The vent, that was supposed to be a heat, light and vent combined was hooked to a piece of PVC pipe and dangling from a board in the roof. There was a hole the size of a salad plate in the floor under the vanity that was a part of the air conditioning/heater. they had drilled three quarter size holes in the baseboard thing of the vanity to let the air out. The shower pipe and head weren’t connected to anything like a stud, so was very loose and movable. So far, it is interesting and scary. The electrical alone with the heater/vent/light was frightful. I will be so glad when they are completely done with the demo and we will know for sure what all is or isn’t safe.

The pipes for the bathtub were not inside the wall and they cut a beam to put the drain in, but ti comes outside the wall and was just under the tub. Not done correctly at all. However the pipes are copper which is a plus. So there is some reworking having to be done there. Not as major as I thought. The floor under the tub was in tact but the dub itself totally cracked into when taken out. I think Tina’s “used house” is full of “miss-use.

Meanwhile Sierra and Milo are hiding, probably under one of the beds. Milo has been down but I haven’t seen Sierra since this morning. She is probably under my bed, way back in a corner where no one can see her. After the workers go home this evening she will come out for dinner and to complain about all the noise and strangers. She does like things her way. Milo says, well, the are upstairs at the far end of the hall so I can run down and eat and use the litter box and see what all is going on , then run back up and hide before the men come down.

With that, I will end this blog and get busy cleaning up the “sewing room”. That is where everything gets stored and we took the toilet out this morning that will go up there. Tina got them on sale last spring.

Have a wonderful rest of your day. Make it a positive, productive, safe, healthy, adventurous and fun day.
