PAST PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN

Tuesday, November 16, 2021 Overcast Chilly Slight Breeze 55 degrees 5:05 p.m.

After listening to the news and all the comments on Washington”s passing the spending bill for the infrastructure; and the “wish list” of President Biden to pass many more spending bills I thought that I would put in a piece from Past President Abraham Lincoln . this has been hanging on my wall in my home”s” for more years then I can remember. I believe it was my aunt’s before it was mine so has been around many years.

“You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more then you earn. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man’s initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.”

I do believe this to be very true. I also believe that what is happening today is just what the above says shouldn’t happen.

Have a wonderful rest of your Tuesday. Make it a thoughtful, kind, productive and pleasant day.

Blessings

A TRUE QUOTE FROM A PAST U S. PRESIDENT

Monday, November 15, 2021 Partly Cloudy, Still, Sunset 52 degrees 5:23 p.m.

Monday already and the middle of November. It seems like just yesterday was the first of the month. Time sure flies by when one isn’t paying attention.

The weekend was very busy. Friday we were in Knoxville all day. The morning was spent shopping for certain items and called for stopping at several stores to get the three items we were looking for. After finally finding them we had lunch, then time for my ultrasound. That went well but took two hours. By then it was time to head home. Of course we had to stop at Walmart for prescriptions, then home.

Saturday we got our hair cut. Then worked around the house some. It was cold so didn’t do much outside even though we had planned on cleaning out the front flowerbed. Maybe Wednesday, or tomorrow.

Sunday we got up early (4:30) to watch Charles Stanley. He is on for an hour, from 5:00 to 6:00 a.m. Then Tina has to get ready for work and leave by 6:30. After she left I got my shower, dressed and proceeded to wrap he birthday gift.. That was no easy job as Sierra insisted on “helping” by sitting on the box, on the paper, swatting at the ribbon, and in general, being a pest. I finally grave her a couple of treats and she left for a few minutes. I barely got the gift wrapped and hidden, and all the wrapping stuff put away before Tina got home. Shortly after she got home Dottie came so we sat and visited. Tina took a nap but not a long one so we sat and visited a while longer. Finally Dottie said”why don’t we go have a late lunch. I would like to try that Mexican restaurant you are always saying is so good”. So we said sure.

(While Tina was taking a nap we took my wrapped gift out to her car). I went upstairs and changed into something a bit warmer, like a heavy sweater as it was only 43 outside, and came down ready to go. When we were parking this guy walks across the parking l;ot going into the restaurant and Tina said that he resembled Jerry. I said, yes, sort of .

we walk in and they had already gotten a table, ordered chips and drinks and were waiting to surprise her. She was shocked! Jerry is a Cowboys fan and she just knew that he wouldn’t leave home during the game. It was on there.

So there was Jerry, Tammy, Tammy’s mom, Dottie and her dad, Robbie, and me all surprising Tina for her 61st birthday! She will have another small party tomorrow when Diana and the kids come over for lunch. Tina has to leave for work at 3:00 and Diana will have to take the kids to lessons so we shall have lunch close to noon,. That should be fun also. The kids are a riot.

Today was another trip to Knoxville to exchange a couple of items and I had a doctor’s appointment. Now home, dinner, dishes and TV for a couple of hours. Have a wonderful rest of your day. Make it a spectacular one.

TO ALL VETERANS WE OUR FREEDOM AND OUT THANKS!

A day of changes. It started out cloudy, then the sun came out brightly, then back to partly cloudy and partly sunny. The wind came up and blew briskly for quite a while. Then the rain came. It is raining now but should be cooler and dry by tomorrow. Since I have a Doctor’s appointment in Knoxville tomorrow I hope it is dry.

Today saw many Veterans Day Parades across the nation. There was one in Knoxville that had a great turnout. It liked like a well thought out and put together parade. No, we didn’t go but have seen bits and pieces of it on TV. If Oak Ridge had one I didn’t hear about it. Watching on TV is perfect as you get a front row seat.

The wind is shaking the leaves from the trees, so there goes the beautiful colors. I can’t get over the beauty of all the trees. Going to Jerry’s, on his street and the one before it, the trees are exquisite. Of course my camera was at home and my phone in the purse on the back seat. I need to keep one in the glove box so it is ready when a great picture project appears.

Since today is a holiday, there is no mail, all federal and state buildings are closed ad are some of the local ones. The doctors offices were open. The nurse called me to remind me of my appointment tomorrow. I guess the stores were open a Tina had two items to return. And Home Depot is open ad she is at work. Schools were in session as the school buses were running

Have a great rest of your day. Make it a cheerful, sunny, prosperous, and fun day.

Blessings

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE UNITED STATES MARINES, THOSE WHO HAVE GIVEN THEIR ALL AND THE PRESENT BRAVE MEN IN THE CORE

Wednesday, November 10, 2021 beautiful, very warm, sunny, no breeze 69 degrees 5:59 p.m.

Today was sunny, warm, up to 76 degrees, delightful to be outside and enjoying the last of the warm fall days. The trees are mostly gold or crimson now and the leaves are falling more swiftly. The prediction is for much colder weather with rain in the forecast, then days reaching the high of 49. that sounds chilly to me. We will need not only the sweaters but the coats to go with them.

Today is the Marine Corps birthday. So many strong, brave men who wear or have worn that smart uniform and marched their way into the wars and skirmishes through these many years. Thank each one for your service, be you here, still protecting our great nation, or are among those who have passed on, giving their all.

Not all who have passed away died of bullet wounds or grenades or bombs. Some returned home with wounds of broken arms, legs, spirits. Some being haunted by the nightmares of the horrendous things they have witnessed, or been put through. P.T S D. is very real . Once it was said that it wasn’t and there was no help for those who suffered with it for years. Now they say that it is a real illness and is being treated and those who are experiencing the effects of it are being listened to. God Bless those men and women, and those who are listening and helping them.

Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday. Make your day very special, be kind, Be interesting , Be a helpful.

Blessings
