CHEERS TO THE WEARING OF THE GREEN

Thursday, March 17, 2022 Sunny A breezy spring day Sunny 72 degrees 5:26 p.m.

A beautiful day, on the warmish side, with a slight breeze. The birds are out and I do believe starting to build their nests in the Cedar Tree, The Bird Condo. Mr. and Mrs, Cardinal have been busy around here eating and picking up bits of twigs and such to do their building and remodeling . they are very busy. The blue jays should be arriving soon to build their summer homes and raise their family. And, of course, other species of birds who come here to spend the summer with us, living in the bird condo.

Today is the “Green Day” The city of Clinton has received a gift of a $26 million dollar spiral park from one of their citizens. It will take a year to build and cover several acres. That should be something to visit and see. There will be trails for hiking, and biking. Boat launches and other things right at the Chinch River, a dirt bike track, and, of course tables and hopefully restaurants and gift shops. It all sounds like a great place will be close for all to enjoy.

Tomorrow, after a beautiful day today, we are going to get rounds of rain. That means rain coats and umbrellas as well as puddles and pools. We have doctor appointments in the afternoon, but they should last a total of 30 minutes. Tina is getting cortisone shots in her neck and I am getting them in my back. Now, all we will have to do is behave and not rearrange the furniture or something dumb like that. At least for a week or so. I am usually the one who does the dumb things and mess up the good work the doctor does. When one feels good and like being 21 again, one wants to act like that. The mind is willing but the body says no, no, no.! Time to start my spring cleaning!

Since Tina had the swing shift today we will celebrate ST. Patrick’s Day tomorrow and have the corned beef and cabbage. I always look forward to that meal. this evening I will watch the clogging dancers and whatever else is on TV regarding the Wearing of the Green. The Irish people seem to be always cheerful and full of mirth, songs, dancing and good ale. I guess I should also mention Irish Whiskey.

Have a supper green day with all the great Irish Blessings bestowed upon you.

ST.PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Wednesday, March 16, 2022 mostly sunny slight breeze slight chill 67 degrees 5:47 p.m.

The morning started with rain , then turned to clouds and finally the sun came out. Now there are a few remaining clouds but mostly sunny. It seems strange that the sun is still shinning brightly and now getting ready to set. It will take a bit to get use to the day light saving time. The news said that there is a bill ready to be passed to keep it this time all year long. That is fine with me. Either set the clock a heard or set it back, but keep it at one or the other.

Since the snow has melted and the temperature has warmed up some, the birds are coming back Today we had some small, cute Chipping Sparrow. They are small and very cute. The bird feeder was their favorite place this afternoon. The robins are out in full force as are the crows. We have seen the blue jays and the cardinals back and I believe building their nests in the cedar tree again this year. It is nice to have them all moving back for the spring, summer and fall seasons.

The grass is growing tall and soon Conley will be back with his riding mower. The buds are doing well on the Dogwood tree so I guess the snow and freezing temperatures didn’t bother them. There are a lot of trees around with beautiful blossoms that seem to have made it through the freeze, and then there are a lot that didn’t make it. The daffodils didn’t make it. They were so beautiful and all over the place. Maybe next year they will come back.

It is good to see kids outdoors playing. In back there are a couple boys playing basket ball and out front a lady is walking with her tow little ones who are riding (more or less) on little bikes. Dogs have been out walking their people and seem happy to have the snow gone and the pretty green grass once again. Things are a bit back to normal around here.

Time to feed Sierra and Milo. they think dinner is a bit late. I swear they have built in clocks with alarms installed in their tummy’s.

THE SCOTTISH AND IRISH OF TENNESSEE

Tuesday, March 15, 2022 Mostly cloudy Slight breeze Nice 64 degrees 3:08 p.m.

A beautiful spring day. The rain is expected to arrive this evening, but just a gentle one to go on through the night until morning. Not bad. Maybe it will bring the daffodils back to life. They are all laying down on their sides.

Today is my son’s 59th birthday. Time sure flies fast when one isn’t looking. He said he is having a quiet day and has only had two calls, me and a friend. Since he is in the nursing home he can’t get out and go anyplace so it is pretty dull at times. I hope others call him sometime today.

Not much news around here. We are going to run er ants so this will be a very short blog. I am never sure how long we will be or what time we will get home so wanted to get this done prior to.

GREAT PYRENEES PUPPIES, 10 WEEKS OLD $300.00

Monday, March 14, 2022 Sunny clear breezy cool 63 degrees 4:00 p.m.

We are having a beautiful day after a weekend of lots of snow, ice, wind and very cold temps. We received about 4 inches of snow, and it was so very beautiful to look out the window at. With it came temperatures in the teens for a high. No one seemed to be interested in going out and about, even to walk the dogs. I think the bigger dogs would of enjoyed romping in the snow, but the masters probably thought better of it. A couple of the ladies that Tina works with said they had to go clear off a patch of grass before their dogs would do their duty. Dottie said Max stood right where she set him down and, did his duty and then came right back up the steps and in the house. He give her the dirtiest look when she set him down and wasn’t very happy with her after that for awhile. There was rain prior to the snow so there was ice everywhere. Lots of pretty ice cycles here and there, including the cars.

The picture above is of Great Pyrenees puppies that have been on our Neighborhood page for three weeks now. They are so cute looking and the owner says that they are de wormed and have had their puppy shots. She has come down in her price of the puppies as I imagine that 6 puppies is a lot to try and control. I notice that one has been sold so that leave five. There were 3 girls and 3 boys, so I suspect that there is only two of one or the other now. She has lowered the price from $600.00 each to $300.00 each. We think they are adorable but we have no yard and not enough energy to keep up with a puppy.

This is “Irish Week” so there are a lot of Irish things on sale everywhere. Also a lot of programs going on to celebrate the Great Day of the Irish. It is the corned beef and cabbage day of the year. Yes, that is on the menu this week, but has to wait until the day after as that is when everyone is off and able to eat dinner at a decent hour.

Did you remember to turn your clocks ahead an hour? Except for the Arizona folks who are lucky enough to keep the same time year round. I still have one clock to set but other then that we did fine. That clock is in the guest room and I forgot about it. I will do it this evening when I go upstairs. Of course I could leave it and it would be the correct time when we set the clocks back in the fall.???
