Monday, April 17, 2023 Sunny, Windy. Clear, Beautiful, 67 Degrees 4:53 p.m.

Monday, the day after a very busy weekend. Laundry done, house in order and dinner nearly ready. The cat and I are now getting at our blog. She is sitting, watching me type, and I am sure, wanting to hit the keys. Wat she wants is treats, but to close to dinner for that.

Saturday we went grocery shopping then home to change and get ready to go to Jerry’s. After leaving there we picked up Dottie and headed out to a Ti restaurant. He gave us a choice of Ti or East Indian. I finally said he was driving, so we ended up at the TI restaurant. It was so nice and the food was excellent. Dottie, Tia and I each said we would go back there again. Jerry said that the next time it would be Indian.

After leaving there we headed for the Coliseum to see Leigh Ann Morgan. Jerry dropped us ladies off and he went to park the car, That took him about twenty minutes. He finally showed up and he, Robbie Keith, Dottie, Tammy, Tina and I proceeded in to find out seats. We were in section F, 13th row. What a hassle for me to get up those steps to the 13th row! Thanks to Jerry and one of the other gentleman there to watch the show, I made it! every other step was a short step, 4 inches, and every other step was 8 inches high.

We got settled and looked around. The place was packed and more people coming in. Her show was sold out and they booked her for a Sunday afternoon show. She is good.

There was a young lady from California who opened the show. She was O.K., but not really ready to be on stage. I think maybe a lot more practice and she will be good. The next lady was very good. She was funny and her little quips, etc. were so down home and so true. Life’s little embarrassing moments come to life with her. We could all relate. Everyone in there was howling. Then came Leigh Ann Morgan. she was very good. You can watch her on Net Flicks. She was about husband and kids and she is good and funny and true to being a mother and a wife. Her whole fami8ly was there and came out as she took her bow. She introduced them. So fun.

After the show we left. Tammy and her dad, Robbie Keith went to her car and we walked about two city blocks to Jerry’s car. It felt good to walk and to be in fresh air. The weather was perfect. WE got home about 10:45. Fed the cat and hit the hay. A good, fun day.

Friday, April 14, 2023 Rain Showers Cloudy Cool Wet 68 Degrees 3:21 p.m.

April Showers bring May flowers. I hope that includes thunder storms as we just had one. All plants look just fine so I guess the heavy rain downpour didn’t damage them. I know that the rain helped them as that water goes deeper them my watering can does.

The birds are enjoying the rain also. They are out checking the grass for worms or seeds or whatever they look for in the grass. There are three at the one bird feeder and one at the suet feeder. These birds do enjoy eating. The blue jays get first dibs at the feeder. The rest wait their turn. I guess he keeps all but the cardinals he birds in order. The cardinals seem to be top of the pecking order and are either share that spot with the blue Jay or the blue jay is right under. Both birds look so pretty when sitting in the blooming dogwood tree. The squirrel has joined the party. The birds ignor him.

Last evening we took the three screens to Ace Hardware in Clinton to have them re-screened. They do a good job and are very reasonable. Plus, they have an interesting store full of all sorts of things. I think it has been there for fifty years. After dropping the screens off we stopped at Apple Blossom Cafe and had dinner. Tina had a Patty Melt and I had a Chuck Wagon Sandwich. Both were very good. that is the best place to eat. Unfortunately they are open from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and closed on holidays. We wish they were open on Saturday mornings for breakfast. Not many places back here are open for breakfast.

Quote of the day: The happiest marriages are surely those where love and laughter overcome any brokenness. Between these couples laughter is a natural part of every day.”

Have a wonderful Friday and a fantastic, safe, sunny, adventurous and fun weekend.

Thursday. April 13, 2023 Mostly cloudy Warm Still Beautiful 77 Degrees 3:37 p.m.

Tuesday I was in Knoxville all day. by the time I got home it was eat dinner, watch a bit of TV and head for bed. Dottie and I shopped at Hobby Lobby and Walmart. Both big stores and I am sure we walked every inch of each of them. Hobby Lobby had some great sales on Waster things. I got two towels and a kitchen tool set. Dottie got some things also. They were all 60% off.

Walmart also had Easter things on sale but not much left there. Mostly baskets. There I got an address book that Joe asked for and a notebook and pencils. Also two chicken pot pies for dinner as I knew we wouldn’t want to cook when we got home.

Yesterday I was busy doing research and writing one of my stories that was two weeks past due. That took all day. Then I had to fix dinner which was chicken breast, vermicelli in a garlic cream sauce, fresh spinach, and ice tea. It was good. Tina was in bed by 7:00 p.m and I made it by 9:00 p.m. We both slept well last night. I think we hadn’t slept well the two previous nights because 1. we had a slice of carrot cake prior to going to bed and 2 it was really warm upstairs. Fans are now on and it feels nice up there. The downstairs stays quite cool all day long but the upstairs gets very warm when the sun is shining and the temperature is close to 80 or above.

Today has been busy. I wrote last weeks story, visited with Julie, did a bit of cleaning and am now at my blog. When Tina gets home we are taking three window screens to Ace Hardware in Clinton to have the screen replaced. they charge $ 5.00 per window. Then I will have to get the windows washed before they get put back up. It is nice having them off as it makes it easy to watch the birds.

The squirrel that lives around here was out and about this morning. Shadow, the German shepherd, was out walking his master. He spied the squirrel and off he took. His master was just moseying along, enjoying the warm air and gazing at everyone’s yard when the dog took off. He had to stretch those legs and run to keep up with the dog, who was pulling hard at the leash. A little while later the two guys, (father and son) who live in the next building came walking their two dogs, a Jack Russel terrier and a “hush puppy” type dog. They spied the squirrel who was scampering across the grass, right in front of them. Off they go with their master flying behind them. What a great morning’s entertainment!

Quote of the day: “Kitchen Rules! 1. If a messy kitchen is a happy kitchen, my kitchen is delirious. 2. A husband is someone who takes out the trash and gives the impression he just cleaned the whole kitchen. 3. Countless people have eaten in this kitchen…and gone on to lead normal lives.” My calendar

Have a wonderful rest of your Thursday. Make it a thankful, thriving, thrifty, and fun day.

MONDAY, APRIL 10, 2023

Monday, April 10, 2023 Sunny Breezy Clear 70 degrees 3:55 p.m.

A beautiful Spring day. The sun is shining brightly, the birds are singing, and puppies are out in their small yards playing. It is warm outside, no sweater needed. I should say no rain jacket needed. The weatherman said no rain until Sunday. We shall see.

Friday was windy, rainy, thunder storms, lightening, power flickering on and off. I stayed off the computer for the most part. Also no TV. Just being careful. A few have lost their computers and TV’s because of the storms. Also some roofs have gone and a couple of bad house fires. Some wicked weather. Tina and I went to the grocery store and the wind was so strong that it nearly blew Tina, myself and the grocery cart over. So many were trying to walk and having a terrible time. Fortunately our area didn’t receive any damage, but up the road a bit trees were blown down and branches all over the place.

Sunday, Easter, was beautiful. Sunshine and a breeze and 65 degrees. We went to Dottie’s for dinner. Jerry, Tammy, Noah and Tina had to participate in an Easter Egg Hunt. Dottie was up early, hiding eggs at 7:00 a.m. She prepared ham, potatoes, green beans and corn on the cob, and a black berry cobbler. We brought a macaroni salad, and deviled eggs. Tammy brought ice tea, an up-side-down cake, and a carrot cake I brought the prizes for the Easter Egg hunt. Because of the bad weather I didn’t get to go shop for them where I wanted to, so we went in to Habitat for America. I had spotted a radio, CD player (would play five CD’s) and wanted to get it. Well, it was gone. So I shopped for the prizes there. Every egg hunter got a prize. A pair of gloves, a picture frame, a nick-knack, a bird house decoration, a lantern, and they got their Easter baskets. All had a good time. You do know that no one can beat the good ‘ole Southern Cooking that we get back here.

When we got home, and were reclined in our recliners, watching TV, Sharon and Bill came over and brought us each a slice of carrot cake. We will have it tonight. We couldn’t ask for better neighbors then what we have here. We are so fortunate and blessed.

Today the landscaper crew came and re-did our flower bed. It is so pretty now, all clean and neat. We have new plants in it, A Gumbo White Azalea Evergreen and a Pink Azalea Evergreen, a Holly Bush and a White Daisy plant. So Pretty. They power washed the sidewalk and it looks wonderful. I didn’t realize that the color I kept seeing wasn’t the real color of it. A Dirty brown looking. It now looks like brand new cement. Our brick mailbox holder is not a pretty deep red rather then a black red. The white stuff Tina keep complaining about is a calcium build up and won’t come off. They worked on that but to no avail. They also did the front part of the roof of the car port. It looks so nice. We will hire them again as they are good, fair priced, and complete the job, clean up after themselves, and leave everything looking fresh and nice. Now I really have to get the windows washed!

have a wonderful Monday. Make it an adventurous, profitable, charitable, kind and fun day.
