Friday, April 12, 2024 Partly Cloudy Breezy Partly Sunny 53 Degrees 2:45 p.m.

So nice to see sunshine and blue sky. I know that rain is important but so is sunshine. We have had very little of it this week. And, they say it will warm up starting tomorrow and be nice for all of next week. Sounds so good.

Well, son Jeff is out of the hospital and home trying to behave. Molly, his dog, is very happy to have him home and I know Jeff is happy to be home with her. He has to set up his PT as he will be doing it at the house. He has to fight with the insurance company as they don’t think he needs it. And I am not sure what else he has to do. He said that he hasn’t had a cigarette since he got home and thinks that he will work to keep it that way. I said that is great. His arm, hand, leg and foot are still swollen and he has to work on getting that down. He has a ways to go, but he will get there.

Echo just said that a hill collapsed on Chapman Highway. I am not sure where that is but it doesn’t sound good. I hope no one was on the highway when it collapsed. The weather has certainly caused a lot of damage all over the place. Fortunately we are fine here.

The wind is blowing pretty good, and trying to blow over one of our vines. the name of the bush or vine starts with a C and it has tons of beautiful pinkish flowers on it as well as that many more buds. It is so pretty. I tried to tie it but am not sure it will hold. And it is chilly outside. We just had a very brief shower.

Tomorrow we go to May berry so that should be fun. I guess it is like the TV show. More about that on Monday, Now I have to go finish fixing dinner.

Quote of the day: “God wears Himself out through the infinite thickness of time and space in order to reach the soul and to captivate it….The soul, starting from the opposite end, makes the same journey that God made towards it. And that is the cross.” Simone Weil, 1909 -1943, French Revolutionary. Philosopher.

Have a good rest of your Friday, and a safe, interesting, enjoyable and fun weekend.

Thursday, April 11, 2024 Windy Pouring rain Thunder & Lightening 69 degrees 2:07 p.m. ‘

This has been a very spring weather week. Rain and wind each day with sunshine on and off. April showers bring May flowers, and the flowers are already blooming. Leaves are appearing on trees and the Dogwood is covered with blossoms. So pretty.

Yesterday the computer didn’t want to work so I didn’t get much done on it. Today it seems to be fine. I am doing the blog early as with the storms racing around the area the power just might go out and I want everything done just in case. This is my first blog since Monday, I believe. Or maybe last week. Be-tween weather and son Jeff being in the hospital, I haven’t kept up with the blog or a lot of other things. I have been on the phone a lot.

I believe that Jeff has improved in the past week and will be able to go home today or tomorrow. He has been doing some walking and climbing a very short set of stairs (4 steps). Nanette said that he will have to have pt but might be able to do so at home. That will be good for him. He still has some swelling, but the doctor said it will take a couple of weeks for it to go away. It was caused by one of his meds. He is feeling much better and eager to get home to his dog, Molly, and human food. He hates hospital food. who doesn’t? I know his dog, Molly, will be over the moon to see him. I don’t know how long he will be off work but Nanette said a couple of days ago that it would be 6 weeks. Time will tell.

Other then that there isn’t much news outside of the weather. Right now we have sunshine. Everything is dripping from the rain, and the birdbath is full again. I keep going out and emptying it as we don’t want to invite mosquitoes. I know that they don’t wait for an invitation, but I don’t want to encourage them either.

The squirrel has been very busy picking things up from our flowerbed. I think the birds knock things our of the bird feeders and the squirrel finds it and carries it off. He has passed by the door with things in his mouth, seeds and berries I believe. We have Blue Jays and Cardinals, red headed woodpeckers, and a lot of other pretty birds. I will have to get the hummingbird feeder out as they will be coming around very soon.

Quote of the day: “”I am convinced beyond a shadow of any doubt that the most valuable pursuit we can embark upon is to know God.” Kay Arthur, 1933 – American Writer

Have a good rest of your Thursday. Make it a dry, pleasant, productive, safe and fun day.

FRIDAY, APRIL 5, 2024

Friday, April 5, 2024 Cloudy Breezy Cold 49 Degrees 3:55 p.m.

Today is still Dogwood Winter, and it feels like winter. Tina called and said that it was sprinkling at her office place in Knoxville. I haven’t seen any sign of rain other then the cloud. I don’t think we need rain so it is O.K.

WE have some of the pictures up in the TV room now. It does look a bit more homey with pictures.WE have one that needs to go get the back fixed and the hanger thing put on. It is of one of the castles in England that Tina visited while there. I believe it is a pencil drawing. It sure is pretty.

Yesterday I worked all day on my Storyworth “story”. It is nice to have it done. I also talked to several on the phone so that added to my enjoyment but also to the time it took me to finish the “Masterpiece”. And Sierra helped by stepping on the keyboard and adding a lot of letters and numbers that I had to remove. She is such a help. Right now she is sitting on the printer. she is good office help in case anyone wants to hire her.

Tomorrow is the day we go to the Ponderosa Zoo. Travis is so excited that we are going and that he gets to show us all his animals. They have baby goats and he gets to hold them. He said that we can hold them, too. I think it is so awesome that he, being Autistic, is able to “work at the zoo and also two banks. The jobs aren’t major, but it gives him a feeling of self worth. He is one who won’t ever be able to be on his own, nor left alone for more then a few minutes. But he is willing to do to please, can carry on a bit of a conversation, and he is neat and tidy. He dresses very well, and his “apartment” is also very neat and tidy. Everything in its place and clean as a pin. His “apartment” is a room and attached bath at his parents. He is a major KISS fan. When they were going to be in Knoxville he found out and bugged his parent to get tickets. They did. He was so excited and was counting the days. Well shortly before they were to appear in Knoxville, one of the members of KISS got sick and the show was cancelled. Travis was so devastated that he went into depression for nearly a month. Finally his mother said that he should make a get well card and send to whoever was ill, and that he should pray for that person . He did. a couple weeks after he mailed off his card he received a thank you for thinking of me card. Travis was better after receiving that note.

Time to think about starting dinner. I am not sure what we are going to have tonight but maybe left over beans and ham that I froze awhile back. I can make corn bread to go with them.

Quote of the day, “Everyone has inside herself a piece of good news! The good news is that you really don’t know how great you can be, how much you can love, what you can accomplish and what your potential is.” Anne Frank, 1929 – 1943. German: Jewish Diarist. “Isn’t everything you have and everything you are sheer gifts from God?….You already have all you need!” 1 Corinthians 44:7-8

Have a wonderful rest of your Friday. Make it a pleasant, safe and profitable day. Have a fantastic weekend, filled with adventure, relaxation, cheerfulness and fun.

Wednesday, April 3, 2024 Cloudy Cool Breezy Rainy? 59 Degrees 5:15 p.m.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLENE HERBERT

It is a different temperature day here. We are now in Dogwood Winter, and the temperature has dropped 20 degrees from yesterday. Our major storm last night didn’t hit us hard, but so many other places had tornadoes as well as rain and hail and winds. We had the rain and the wind, but not damaging wind. We are very thankful, believe me.

Tonight is Craft night at church so we will be going there in a bit and doing whatever craft we have to take. I am sure it is the same one we took last week as I haven’t emptied the bag that it was in. It is fun chatting with the ladies. I think the one who brings her loom will be there tonight.

I have worked on stories today and will finish them tomorrow. I have enjoyed doing the research for this one. The topic is something I know very little about. That makes it more interesting. AT any rate , this blog will be short and sweet a we need to eat and then get going.

Quote of the day: “To put yourself in another’s place requires real imagination, but by so doing each Girl Scout will be able to live among others happily.” Juliette Low. 1860 – 1927. British/American Humanitarian. founder of Girl Scouts of America.

Have a great Hump Day. Make it a day of accomplishments, completing projects, learning skills, and having fun.
