FRONT OF THE TRAIN

Monday, July 25, 2022 Cloudy Wet Very Slight breeze 87 Degrees 4:28 p.m.

The 4th Monday of the month, and the 205th day of the year. Time sure flies when one is having fun. I can’t believe that July is nearly gone. This week will be busy as Tina is on vacation and we are going to Chattanooga on Wednesday to visit the aquarium and also the museum. More about that when we return.

While on vacation we plan on getting some things done around the house that take time and two people to accomplish. We managed to get the new buffet wiped down and shelf paper put in the shelves and drawers and even got the cook books moved on there. We can now reach them without having to climb on a stool to do so. It is nice to have storage places one can reach. Here, I think the people were really tall as shelves are placed higher then normal. Of course, I believe we are shorter then we use to be.

This morning we took the car in for an oil change and tire rotation and checkup, preparing for out trip. I understand that it takes two to three hours to get to Chattanooga from here. We will stop at Jerry’s and drop Max off. He will have a sleep over and visit with his Doggie cousins. Dottie will be here at 8:00 a.m. and then we will take off. We both love aquariums so are looking forward to visiting this one.

Saturday Dottie and I helped Tammy snap beans. I believe there were two bushels of them. They were in xerox type boxes. One had regular green beans and the other had rattle snake green beans. Those beans had a zigzag type stripe on each side. I think she canned 24 quarts of green beans. That is a lot, I think. It has been years since I canned veggies, or even froze any. I think it might be time to think about returning to doing things like that again.

The rest of the weekend was quiet and uneventful around here. With Tina working 8 hours on Saturdays and Sundays now we don’t really have time to do anything exciting. We get up very early and then go to bed early. It makes meals and sleep sort of Topsy Turfy. There is something healthy to be said for having a regular schedule.

Time to think about dinner. We are having shrimp something or other. Tina is doing that part and I am doing the salad and such.

GREAT ENTERTAINMENT Rocky Top

Friday, July 22, 2022 HOT HUMID SUNNY SLIGHT BREEZE 91 DEGREES 3:53 P.M.

We got up and went out and did our errands early this morning, before it got so hot. The heat isn’t that bad but the humidity is what kills you. The breeze just started up and I am sure that helps a little. It is to be a very hot and humid weekend with no rain until next week, like maybe Monday. I guess I wil water early in the morning both Saturday and Sunday.

Jerry came over and hooked up out new garden hose. It is metal and should not spring a leak or break or get damaged. I have the guarantee and I will use it if it does. It is plenty long and will reach anyplace I need to water so that is good. He also got my BLINK working and that is awesome. I did miss seeing the animals who wonder by, especially at night. He also worked on my camera/ computer so I can get more of my pictures. I don’t know what I would do without him. We appreciate his help so much.

Tomorrow Tina works from 5:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. so Tammy is coming to get me and her mom so we can help her snap (break) beans. She bought a bushel of green beans and she is going to can them. The heat has made the veggies grow faster then normal and also many have burned because of the heat. Tina lost all of her squash. The cantaloupe are growing and doing well so far. Also the lettuce and the carrots. And the tomatoes are really growing and are good.

Have a great rest of you Friday and a spectacular weekend. Make both restful, adventurous, relaxing, enjoyable, safe, healthy and Fun.

Thursday, July 21, 2022 Cloudy Windy Humid 81 Degrees 3:50 p.m.

I missed doing the blog yesterday as it was a busy day. First of all, the thunder storms were upper most in everyone’s mind. They were said to of started around three in the afternoon but in the afternoon we got the thunder and a bit of lightening and no rain. Of course that was just this part of town. Tina said that it poured at Home Depot along with the thunder and lightening.

I had company later in the afternoon and also went out to dinner. It was a fun afternoon and evening. Pamela and her dad took me to dinner, then we came home and she came and played a game of Scatagories. She won but it was close. The letters coupled with the questions were a bit difficult for the most part.

As we were finishing the game the thunder started then the lightening and the wind. Dottie texted and said that it was storming in Clinton. Tammy texted and said that it was storming in Knoxville. They had rain. We still didn’t have rain. Pamela left as she is now living in Clinton. She called and let me know that she got home safely.. Soon after that Tina got home from work. She was surprised that we didn’t have rain as Home Depot was in the midst of another downpour.

Around 3:30 to 4:00 this morning the storm hit with a vengeance. Milo went under the bed and didn’t come out for three or more hours. It thundered like it was in the bedroom and the lightening lite up the whole room like daylight. And it rained! There have been flood advisories out for different parts of the area all day. I know that some places flooded and also had damage from fallen trees and hail, etc. We were fortunate here as no damage and no flooding. We do have a creek across the turnpike from us and also along the street that we turn off of to get to pour home. We are in a great area. I do hope and pray that the farmers and ranchers are fairing well through all the rain and such. My sympathy to all the dogs and the dog parents, and any other animal that is terrified by the storms.

I understand that we might get some more of the same this afternoon and evening so am getting my blog out just in case the power goes out. WE haven’t had much trouble with power outages since we have been here so hope that we continue that way. I hate setting the clocks afterwards.

TUESDAY, JULY 19, 2022

Tuesday, July 19, 2022 Partly Cloudy Humid Breezy 86 Degrees 5:06 p.m.

A rather lazy day. Have done a few odd jobs, worked on some Scrap-booking, went to Kroger’s, ate lunch, and not much else. This evening, if Pamela comes it will be games, if not I think either writing, reading or TV. Jeopardy for sure.

We do have a mystery. Tina was wondering why some of her plants in her flowerbed under the Dogwood Tree are laying down while most of the others are standing up? After looking at it I think something is making it their bed at night. So I need to figure out how to change the batteries in our BLINK and turn it towards the tree. Maybe I can catch the “sleeping beauty”. It can be a fox, cat, racoon, etc. Any number of wild animals seeking a comfy spot for a nocturnal nap while out hunting. I understand that there is a night hawk that lives in one of the trees across the way. I doubt he would want to nap in the flowerbed.

Tina is looking for someone to pull weeds in the flowerbeds but so far no one is interested in making a few bucks for about 30 minutes work. she gets eaten up with mosquito bites and they take forever to heal, and they make her sick. She has worn the bracelets, use off and skin so soft, etc. and to no avail. One man said that he would, but that he charged $1.00 per minute and he figured it would take about 45 minutes. Tina said that was fine. He said he would get it done this past weekend. He didn’t show up. Now she is hoping one of the neighborhood kids will want the job. We shall see. I would love to do it but would either fall or get down and not be able to get up. I go out and water but that is a bit chancy also as I am afraid of falling on the uneven ground, as there are several holes and roots here and there not clearly seen. However it is safer then pulling weed.

The cats are telling me it is their dinner time so, guess I had better feed them. They are so persistent.
