THIS BEAUTIFUL INDIAN PICTURE NEEDS A NEW HOME.

Tuesday, June 28, 2022 Mostly sunny, Slight breeze 84 Degrees 8:21 p.m.

I am really late this evening. Pamela came over and we played games She won the Yahtzee game and I won the Scattagoris Game. It was fun. Plus, today was laundry day and that always takes awhile to get it all done. Of course I didn’t get started until late.

It has been a rather warm day and the humidity is creeping back in. time to stay indoors. Tina is at work so has to go out in the humidity from house to car then car to building then building to car and then car to house. What a circle. At least she works in an air conditioned building.

New people moved in down the street. The had a big truck that left the trailer, I think a form of a pod, and they have spend all day emptying it and putting stuff in the house. I felt so bad for them having to do all that in the heat. Finally this afternoon a couple of guys came and helped with the big stuff, furniture. I imagine she will spend a month or two getting it all put where she wants it and where it will fit. I guess I should say they will. they have two cute little dogs that she walks a couple times a day. There is a small en-closer type yard that the dogs can go out in but need a walk for good exercise.

Now to go watch something on TV.

Quote of the day: Tending the Grass: “The grass is not in fact always greener on the other side of the fence” writes Robert Fulghum in IT WAS ON FIRE WHEN I LAY DOWN ON IT. (vILLARD BOOKS): Fences had nothing to do with it. The grass is greenest where it is watered. When crossing over fences, carry water with you and tend the grass wherever you may be.”

Have a great rest of your evening. Make it sweet and calm and cool and fun.

JUST CHECKING FOR BUGS

Monday, June 27, 2022 Partly Sunny Breezy Maybe Rain Later 85 Degrees 3:19 p.m.

I am early today but totally missed Friday as we got home a bit late and were wore out from heat and muggy, stifling air. We were at Dottie’s and then decided to do some shopping on the way home. That was a mistake ad when we got out of the store it was so stuffy hot and muggy that it simply made us wilt. I think we were both a bit sick from it. The news said that it was 96 I believe.

Dottie cut my hair and she did a wonderful job. She went to barber collage so knows how to cut hair and do it right. She is a keeper. That lady has several talents and is good at them all. She sure makes a mean cobbler. We were there for dinner last evening and she made black and blue berry cobbler. It was so good. We also had fresh green beans and potatoes, corn bread, meat loaf and corn. A very good meal. Great company also. Jerry, Tammy, Tina, Dottie and myself.

We drove home in and out of the rain. Finally, after I went to bed, we had a good rain storm complete with thunder and lightening and lots of rain. We needed it. There is a chance we will get more this evening and that would be wonderful as the lawns really need it. The farmers and ranchers are also in need of some good rain. I pray that the western part of this great nation will soon get rain as I know had badly it is needed there. I can’t imagine Lake Mead so low. That is so scary. I know that there are prayer meetings and vigils going on concerning the water shortage out west. I am in that group. I may live in Tennessee but I am still a Native Nevadian.

THE BIRD CONDO

Thursday, June 23, 2022 Sunny Breezy Hot 93 Degrees 4:37 p.m.

The tree above is the Bird Condo. Home to so many pretty birds.

Another beautiful summer day. A bit on the hot side outdoors but lovely indoors looking out. All seems to be quiet outside as it is the heat of the day and most everything is having their afternoon siesta. People will soon start arriving home from work, taking their dogs for a walk and preparing for the evening. Several will be preparing their meals on the BBQ as it keeps the heat out of the house.

We aren’t doing that but will be serving Papa John’s Pizza for dinner as we are having company. For lunch we had a fresh green salad from the garden with Romain lettuce, green onions, cucumber tomato and grilled chicken. That was very good. Question is, why does the lettuce taste bitter? As gardeners we aren’t the most knowledgeable people. We thought that it would be better then what you buy in the store. So we will keep trying. I should say that Tina and Julie will keep trying and I will keep tasting.

Last evening, while sitting here working on one of the stories that I am writing, Milo, who was sitting in his favorite spot, looking out the door, started growling and yowling and swishing his tail. All of a sudden he came racing across my table, the keyboard and into the windowsill, stuck his head through the blinds and continued growling and hissing and yowling. I finally got to part the blind and saw that there was a strange cat just sitting on the walkway, looking in at him and not being hostile or in the least disturbed by Milo’s rudeness. He sat there , then walked a ways until he was right in front of the door, but still on the walkway, and just looked a us. In a few minutes he wondered off, very nonchalantly. He looked like he was a kitten, but maybe a teenage kitten, and he looked like he was possibly a stray. I thought that if I saw him today I would call animal control and have him picked up as he would at least have a chance to get a new home and a meal. So far I haven’t seen him today and if he (or she) was still around Milo would certainly let us know, loud and clear. I believe it was a he as I doubt Milo would carry on so if it was a female.

Our breeze has turned into more of a wind and the temperature has gone up a degree, now 94. It will get a couple of degrees warmer before it starts to cool down, sometime this evening.

Wednesday, June 22, 2022 2nd day of Summer Breezy Few high White Fluffy Clouds 97 Degrees 5:03 p.m.

Yes, it is rather warm outside. the air conditioning feels quite nice in the house, or any building for that matter. Birds are still hiding in their nests, dogs aren’t going out for a walk just yet, cats are snoozing and all is quiet on the home front. Oh, yes, Tina is at work in the air conditioned Home Depot building.

Last night Pamela came over to play Yahtzee. Normally she wins with high scores and is very lucky in getting lots of yahtzees. last night she won two games and I won one, with 4 Yahtzee’s’. I couldn’t believe it. I kept thinking of Tom Hill who thought keeping the dice with the 1 or ace was just dumb, but I won 3 of my yahtzees with the 1 on all five dice. The other one was with the 5;s. So fun. I have never done that before. It was a great evening. We shall see how this evening goes. Maybe we should change games?….

I didn’t add the credits after my story about Warwick in last evenings blog, so here they are: Adapted from Some Folks Feel the Rain, Others Just Get Wet. James W. Moore Dimensions

I hope that you enjoyed the story. sometimes being part of a team instills in us the effort to put our best foot forward.

Our garden produced nicely today. We were able to pick some radishes, zucchini, romaine lettuce and a yellow squash. That is good eating I think. A nice salad for sure. We are now looking for medium sized loaf pans to bake breads in. The one size we have is to small and the other size is to big. Like Goldy locks, we want the one that is just right, the middle size. We want to make banana bread and zucchini bread, etc. It sounds like shopping to me. Maybe Amazon has them?
