BINGO IN SEARCHLIGHT PARKS & REC

Tuesday, June 21, 2022 Sunny Clear Hot Slight Breeze 94 degrees 4:52 p.m.

I think there is a bit of humidity today as I feel it when I go outside. But, still, not bad for the most part. I nthe house it is nice and comfortable.

The excitement last night was sitting here and watching the fire flies. so pretty and interesting. there were several of them lighting up the grass and area. I don’t know how long they stay or live and when the “season” is over but I do intend to enjoy them as I see them.

Today we had a gold finch dining at out bird feeder. they are so pretty and fun to watch. I do hope he comes back again tomorrow, and bring his friends. You can tell we live an extremely exciting life here in the Secret City.

Not much to talk about so her is the Quote for the day: BELIEF IS ALL YOU NEED. a MAN WAS LOST WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE COUNTRY. As he was trying to read the map he accidentally drove off the road into a ditch. Though he wasn’t injured his car was stuck deep in the mud. So the man walked to a nearby farm to ask for help.

“Warwick can get you out of the ditch,” said the farmer, pointing to an old mule standing in a field. The man looked at the haggardly mule and looked at the farmer who just stood there repeating, “yup, old Warwick can do the job.” The man figured he had nothing to lose . The two men and Warwick made their way back to the ditch.

The farmer hitched the mule to the car. With a snap of the reins he shouted. “Pull, Fred Pull. Jack Pull, Ted Pull, Warwick, Pull”. And the mule pulled the car from the ditch with very little effort.

The man was amazed. He thanked the farmer, patted the mule and asked, “Why did you call out all of those other names before you called Warwick? The farmer grinned and said, “Old Warwick is just about blind. As long as he believes he’s part of a team, he doesn’t mind pulling.”

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Enjoy Summer, this is the first day of summer fun, thrills, excitement, short shorts, swimsuits, and dieting. Hit dogs, potato salad, ribs, corn on the cob, yum!

TINA AND SIMBA ON PORCH IN SEARCHLIGHT

Monday, June 20, 2022 Sunny Breezy Warm 88 Degrees 4:27 p.m.

A beautiful last day of spring. Quite warm but not bad. Much better then last week as the humidity is low and that is nice. The birds are singing and having dinner at the bird feeders. Right now it is the robins who are out and about. the littler birds must be in their nests, I think. Our excitement this morning was a deer in the front yard. She (he) ?) looked sort of lost and seemed to be seeking the rest of the herd. But She was so pretty. She didn’t stay but a minute, and no time to grab he camera. I will keep watch and maybe one day another deer will venture into our yard.

Tina is at work. I took her to work and soon will have to go get her. Since it is hot and there is no shade to park in there we thought that if I take her and go pick her up the car can spend most of the day in the car port and not in the sun. Also, if I want to or need to go someplace I will have the car and she won’t have to take me after work or go do errands when she gets off work. This works as long as her hours are not really weird. I won’t take her to work at 4:30 on Saturday mornings, nor at 6:30 on Sunday mornings. She works 4 hours on those days and there is no need for me to keep the car.

Today has been laundry day….. I have washed things that are normally not in the weekly laundry. I did pillows, robes, the one bed spread and shams, and the towels. Tomorrow I will do the rest of the laundry. It is nice to get some of the extra things done, and freshened up. Part of the spring cleaning.

The weekend was quiet. We didn’t do much Saturday as we were waiting for the cupboard I bought to be delivered. they called about 11-ish and said that as he was bringing it down the porch steps it fell apart. they were so kind and brought mu money back. They said that most everything was sold and they made several more trips to the dump. They hope to start demo in a couple of weeks. They are also, now, wondering what other surprises they will find as they move forward with the remodeling. I am sure they will find lots of surprises as I doubt anything has been done to that house since the day it was built. We wish them well.

Have a great rest of your day. Make it profitable, productive, positive, pleasant and fun.

AN AQUARIUM BUILT AND INSTALLED
IN ONE OF THE CLUBS ON THE
LAS VEGAS STRIP BY THE PEOPLE OF THE TV SHOW, TANK

Friday, June 17, 2022 Cloudy, Slight breeze Much Less Humidity 85 Degrees 5:03 p.m.

It has been a busy day. It was very hot and humid this morning; now, after a brief rain storm that didn’t hit us, it is at least 10 degrees cooler. And the humidity is way down. Very nice outdoors now. It will be a nice weekend and then the heat returns. Probably the humidity will return with it.

As I said we had a very busy day. There was a yard sale starting at 8:00 a.m. this morning. We decided that we wanted to go and be there at 8:00 a.m. It was a good sale. the lady who had lived there needed, due to age and health, moved to one of the Carolina’s to be closer to her brother. She sold the house to a young couple and left most of her stuff. Furniture, dishes, books, knick knacks, plants, etc. All very good and nice things. Well kept and taken care of. We had a good time shopping and visiting with the couple who are trying to get the house emptied so they can remodel and move in. Tina got tow purses, a Coach and a Vera Bradly for $10.00 each. Excellent condition. She also got a couple of Indian vases or what ever they are. I got a small notebook, a Yahtzee game, (mine is wearing out and I needed the score pads). And a pantry. They had a cute bench and all sorts of stuff but nothing that we could use or would fit our house.

then we went to Hassle’s and had breakfast. After a discussion as to what and where to go next we went looking for a used furniture store or another garage sale. We stopped at one store that had a lot of stuff but nothing that we wanted. Then we went to Habitat for Humanity and had a great time exploring their store. All their stuff was very nice, well displayed and priced very well. There I found two night stands and a sugar bowl (story about that at another time) for $40.00. We were both thrilled with the place. Now, I will sand the night stands and then stain them. I want them a certain color to sort of go with my bedroom furniture.

Home felt good with the air conditioning. We had lunch and then just relaxed. I am working on where the pantry will go once it gets here. The man at the Yard sale will deliver it. Tina is really excited about it as she wants a REAL pantry so bad. I am excited as we won’t have to keep making room for groceries in cupboards that are meant for other things.

Quote of the day: There are two ways of spreading light; to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it. Edith Wharton “Vesalius in Zante”.

Have a wonderful rest of your day and weekend. Make it a spectacularly pleasant, cheerful, friendly, family orientated, safe and fun one. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all the fathers, past, present and future.

SEARCHLIGHT GOLD DIGGERS RED HAT LUNCHEON AT OLIVE GARDEN, LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

Thursday, June 16, 2022 The 4th day of the Heat Wave Sunny 95 Degrees 3:45 p.m.

My Blog is early today as we are having company for dinner and a movie. I feel better doing this early rather then later. It is another hot day but not as humid so not as bad. The heat without all the humidity isn’t quite as bad. I do know that the animals don’t care much for all this “summer stuff”. Both Sierra and Milo prefer the downstairs back bathroom shower as the coolest place in the house.

Th birds don’t mind it as they are still out and about, eating and singing and doing all the crazy things birds do. The hummingbirds are especially active and dining at the hummingbird feeder quite a bit. they are so pretty, tiny, and colorful. The pair in the hanging plant at the front door are going back and forth, eating. I think they take turns sitting on the eggs. There are three small, blue eggs in that nest. It will be fun watching the little ones once they hatch. We keep the plant watered but are very careful to not wet the nest.

Today is the day the tree people go to Jerry’s and take the tree down. I sure hope it went well and there was no more damage to his property or to the person’s property where the tree was. Around here, the tree people make bank as someone is always needing a tree removed.

We have some very tall and big trees in this “village”. I look at them and pray they don’t come down as even the ones across the street would cut our place in half should they fall this way. By our place, I mean the four town homes here. They are at least twice as tall as our two story homes here. But, so pretty, full and green.

I guess it is time to start dinner. I am fixing pork chops, potatoes, gravy, veggie and a salad. Dessert is apple walnut cookies.

Have a pleasant, cheerful, sunny, positive, productive and fun rest of your Thursday.
