TINA AND JULIE PLANTING THE CONTAINER GARDEN

Monday, May 9, 2022 Sunny Clear Clam 76 Degrees 5:46 p.m.

A beautiful start to the work week. No wind, sunny, calm and welcoming. Th perfect day to do outdoor chores or play. Tina was o9ut checking the garden and flowers this morning, took a walk to the mail box this afternoon. I, not as eager to be outdoors, did go out and spray the roses and flowers with bug spray for roses and flowers. The bugs were terrible with the roses last year so wanted to catch it before they got going this year.

We had strong winds on Saturday so the azaleas didn’t fair so well. One bush hardly has any blossoms left, the other has many but a few look pretty sad. I think the strong winds and the hard rains got to them. Everything else seems to of don O.K. It is supposed to be clear and dry until the end of the end of the week.

Mother’s day was wonderful. We( Tina, Jerry, Tammy Dottie and I) went to North shore Park in Knoxville and had a picnic. It was cloudy, a bit cool and breezy but still very nice. there were a lot of other people there with the same idea. Also lots of people with their dogs and even some with children. We enjoyed KFC chicken, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, strawberry salad and cupcakes. All very yummy. It tasted so good as I think most of us were hungry.

I received a gift certificate to the Play theater here in Oak Ridge to take 2 guests and go see Driving Miss Daisy. We will go see that next Sunday afternoon, and I am taking Tina and Dottie as my guests. That should be a fun Sunday afternoon. Also beautiful card and a lighted gnome. He is cute. Beautiful Cards from Jerry and Tammy, Jeff and Nanette, and Tina

On Saturday, the 14th, we have to be at Dottie’s at 7:00 a,m, to take a 4 hour train ride in the Smokies with Jerry, Tammy, Dottie and Robbie. That will be so fun and interesting. Tina has the day off as one of the gals will work for her, so she will get to enjoy the trip also. More on that next wee.

Tina gave me a bouquet of tulips and is planting flowers under the dogwood tree that will bloom on and off all year long. That is a big gift as it is hard work for her to get down and plant. Tammy and Jerry came and helped put the bricks around the tree and get the dead grass and such out from under it. She widen the circle by at least a foot ot two feet so it will be beautiful with flowers. Tammy and Jerry also put all the bags of Miracle Grow dirt in there. She has to add a few more bags of dirt and then will be ready to go.

This week is a busy one with doctor appointments and nails and hair appointments plus she works so fits all that into the daily schedule. Wednesday she has an eye appointment with the doctor who will probably do the lazier and give her a shot in her eye. Tomorrow I have a doctor appointment with my primary care doctor. A busy week.

DO YOU SEE THE ANIMAL STICKING HIS NOSE OUT OF THE FLOWERS?

Friday, May 6, 2022 Rain, Thunder, Lighting, Wind, 71 degrees 4:55 p.m.

A wild weather day here in East Tennessee. We have has some Southern Nevada winds that are a bit unusual for here. Lots of rain that came down very fast. Thunder that shook up the buildings and lightening that lit up the rooms. The rain and all would stop and it would look like it is clearing up, then here it comes again.!

We went to the grocery store early this morning, between storms, and got cat food. We were out and there is no living with cats that don’t have food. Actually, we were out of canned cat food. they have plenty of dry food so they wouldn’t starve. They are accustomed to breakfast between 6:00 A.M. and 7:00 A.M. and dinner between 6:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. and sort of bug us if they think we might of forgotten. You know the old saying, ” Dogs have Masters, Cats have Staff”.

Our next outing was a trip to the doctor’s office so Tina could get an e-ray of her knee and hip. She fell about three weeks ago. She thought nothing of it and believed that she was just sore and it would go away. The pain has gotten worse and she is now using a cane most of the time. So we went in to see about it. We will probably not hear until Monday as the doctor’s office and staff leave early on Fridays. I am not sure if the z-ray tecnition who reads the x-rays was there today or not. Monday will be just fine.

FLOWERS ON EVERY BUSH AND TREE IT SEEMS

Thursday, May 5, 2022 Partly Cloudy Still 81 degrees 4:52 p.m.

This has been another beautiful day. I love seeing all the flowers, the trees, the green grass and the birds. To see the people out walking their dogs and kids outside playing ball, riding their bikes and jumping rope. Now is the time people are arriving home from work and the evening begins. Lawns being mowed, the patios being utilized with people sitting enjoying the evening with their families.

Today is CINCO DE MAYO AND tacos are on the menu all over. Tina and I went to Brullo’s for lunch and it was wonderful. They have the best guacamole. I After a great meal we left and came home. she had to go to work at 2:00 p.m. so no time to goof off. We had been to Home Depot to get the rest of the bricks to go around the dogwood tree. And a couple of plants.

Pamela came over this afternoon and we played Yahtzee. She one one game and I won five. Last time we played she won 5 and I won one. It is all in the roll of the dice.

MAY FLOWERS IN TENNESSEE

Wednesday, May 4, 2022 Beautiful Sunshine Breezy No Clouds 82 degrees 4:37 p.m.

I am amazed at all the flowers that grow and bloom, wild, here in Tennessee. In Nevada, if we planted tulips or any bulb flower they would have to be dug up and brought in for the winter. Here they all grow wild, and if you plant them, you leave them and they come up the next year all by themselves. there are many houses around here that have iris, daffodils, tulips and other flowers planted around their mail boxes . They look well cared for and are so attractive.

That goes along with all the beautiful birds that we have here, visiting the bird feeders and nesting in the trees and planters. Besides the cardinals, bluejays, mourning doves, I saw an indigo bunting the other day. so pretty. There are so many different types of swallows that are here dinning at the feeders that I can’t name them all. Also numerous different types of sparrows and warblers. 19 of them, each different and each pretty. All of them sing beautifully.

Beings today is the middle of the week, I have done odds and ends tasks around here. I went out and swept the carport as it was a mess from the trees across the turnpike blowing all the pollen, leaves and what have you over. It looks much better now.
