CITIZENS OF THE DESERT

Tuesday, May 3, 2022 Partly Cloudy Windy chance of late thunder storm 83 degrees 5:27 p.m.

A good day, a bit on the windy side, but all in all very nice. I had a doctor’s appointment with the cardiologist first thing this morning. After wearing the monitor for a month he found nothing to get excited about. He said I have high blood pressure so has given me a new, very low dose half a pill a day med. He wants me to monitor my blood pressure for the next three months and see how that pill does in lowering it. I can do that. I Hope. I get busy and forget it take it.

Spent the afternoon going through some pictures I have so many and now is the time to go through them and see what I have that can go to someone or something. I went through a stack from the 2006 Museum Guild’s Searchlight Birthday party. That was fun. I tried to write down who was in each picture and ended up having to go through old church records, and obits for some of the names. It is sad when you forget the names of people you knew or know and know the face but can’t remember their names.

It is a quiet neighborhood today. Tina is at work, some have been out walking their dogs, the birds aren’t out to much as it is really windy and the bird feeders are swaying a bit to much for them. Even the squirrel hasn’t been out checking the food source.

Today is Bam Bam Barberena’s birthday. We wish him a very Happy Birthday and many more.

SWANS ON POND AT BONNIE SPRINGS, NEVADA

Monday, May 2, 2022 Sunny, Humid, Still 81 Degrees 6:40 p.m.

Monday! the first Monday in the month of May, 2022. The flowers are blooming all over. Our Azaleas are so pretty, white and shining in the flower bed. We have buds on the rose bush and the vine with the beautiful pink flowers is going strong with both flowers and buds. Bill nest door has Azaleas that are red and they are also bright and beautiful as are his geraniums.

We had a good weekend, Tina worked in her garden for a bit, after she got home from work, then we went to a couple of garage sales. One was good and one was not so good and one just had kids things. I bought a bag of bows. We then came home and did a few thing around here then watched TV for a bit.

Sunday after Charles Stanley and Tina got home from work Jerry and Tammy came and picked us up to go on a short outing. Tammy had bought a new KVA (Sp) van that seats 8 so had to take us for a ride in it. After picking us up we went to Dottie’s and picked her up, then to Robbie’s and picked him up. then we went to an ice cream palace and had a big ice cream cone. So good! Then the reverse trip back. It was fun and the new vehicle is lovely. they made the decision to get a bigger van as Jerry’s grand kids are getting bigger and requiring more room. And if they want to take All of us it is far more comfortable with two or three sitting in the far back, then two or three sitting in the middle and two in front, one being the driver. That does make a lot of sense. It was a fun outing with fun people.

Today has been warm and sunny and nice. Of course, it is laundry day so have done the laundry. Dottie came over and we had a good visit. Poor Max got attacked by a big dog yesterday. He wasn’t seriously hurt but is sore and a bit shaken up. the dog belonged to her neighbor who didn’t know that he had gotten out. Today Max seems to be O.K. but still not totally himself. I think he is a bit sore in the rib area.

We have had dinner, BBQ ed chicken and trimmings and now it is news time.

Have a great rest of your Monday. Make it a pleasant, sunny, smiling, good feeling, fun day.

ANOTHER FLORAL BEAUTY FOUND IN TENNESSEE

Friday, April 29, 2022 Partly Sunny Floating Cotton Clouds 76 Degrees 5:39 p.m.

Friday and a day in Knoxville. We met Jerry for a late breakfast at Don Delfi’s Pancake House. They have great food and plenty of it. A very large menu and lots of choices for each meal. The prices were good as was the service.

After leaving there we went to Dillard’s where I finally found a pair of shoes. I am finding out that I can’t just go in and buy a pair of shoes because they are cute, but have to find ones that fit properly and have a good support and will go with most everything. Gone are the days of cute, in style, high heels. The flip Flops that are so trendy and cute are also not in on shopping radar any longer either. Now they are just good memories.

After there we went to Barns and Nobel for a book Tina wanted. There we had a frap and that was the end of it all. We both got upset tummy;s from that. We hurried with the rest of our errands and came home. We are missing a great “Hot Dog” spread at Jerry and Tammy’s tonight. That is SAD.! But I figure it will be bed early and dinner will be Pep-to Bismall! Tomorrow is another day.

Saturday, tomorrow, is Farmer’s Market for sure. What ever else I don’t know. Time will tell and it will be a great weekend.

THE TREES ALL GREEN AND PRETTY THE BLOOMS GONE FOR THIS YEAR

Thursday, April 28, 2022 Sunny, Still Clear Blue Skies 75 Degrees 4:17 p.m.

A perfect spring day. People out working in their yards, the buzz of lawnmowers heard along with the singing of the beautiful birds. Kids outside riding bikes and playing ball. A lovely late afternoon.

Today Tina and the lady next door, Julie, planted the garden. There are some plants in a raised bed and some in large pots. I sure hope they grow and produce some excellent veggies for all of us to enjoy. I am especially interested in the Hearts of Gold cantaloupe that was planted this morning. I will be watching that one closely. That is the best of the melons. In Nevada, Fallon raised Hearts of Gold and people came from all over that part of the state just for the melons. So juicy and so sweet and so delicious.

Mr. Bumble Bee is out inspecting the garden and the other plants out there, checking on the flowers on the azaleas and the geraniums as well as the flowering vine. He is busy and friendly. He never bothers us if we are outside and he is around. He is big and beautiful as far as members of the bee family go.

The goldfinch has been here all day also. He(she) seems to come and stay for a day or so, then leave and be gone for several days, then comes back. So pretty and vocal. He was out dining with the cardinals and Blue Jays this morning. The warblers came and joined in the “breakfast crowd, then returned for lunch. I will have to wait and see if they come back for dinner.

Pamela is coming over to play games this evening, so have the card table ready. I am waiting for a phone call so can’t go running around and miss it. Do have paper and pen ready as well as games and score keeping pads and pencils. I am prepared, I think.
