THE TWINS LIVING IN THE SMOKIES

Friday, January 14, 2022 partly cloudy still chilly 51 degrees 4:14 p.m.

Today is nice, winter feel in the air, a breeze on and off, some sun, then some clouds, nice in the sun, chilly in the shade. Yes, it is winter. We are due to receive the storm from Canada tomorrow and it will bring wind, rain and snow, but not all at once. I guess the very cold arrives Sunday night and Monday morning. It will be in the twenty’s and below. Our high will be in the 30’s. So we shall see how all this plays out.

January is here and some of the “donate” letters have stopped. Now the magazines want subscribers. I can disregardful them all now and read the magazines and books that I have piled up. Diana, Dottie, Tammy and I pass the magazines and book around so there is no shortage of reading material. And the TV shows are returning so that is good. Plus the two or three new ones. Last night (recorded) we watched “CHASE”, and that is very good. The questions are challenging and the time to answer them is short. If you get a chance check it out. If you like Jeoperty you will really like Chase.

Since we are said to be having a stormy weekend Tina has to work and I am going to clean out the some of the thoats in the storage shed and see where we put some of the stuff that we had out before Christmas. I am missing a cute kitty that sits under a table lamp, among other things. Then I will add reading and letter writing to the agenda. I have great plans so hope I can carry them through.

Today’s philosophy:

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to critisize others.

Have a super safe and fun Friday and a wonderful, healthy, safe and enjoyable weekend.

THIS IS BACK IN THE 1930’S OR 1940’S IN THE SECRET CITY, OAK RIDGE, TN.

Thursday, January 13, 2022 Cloudy Windy Cool 52 degrees 4:37 p.m.

A nice winter’s day. We thought there would be rain showers but so far it has been nice and dry and another beautiful winter’s day. I understand the weekend might be stormy with rain and snow and wind. It is January so that is to be expected.

Today has been rather quiet. Tammy had her shoulder surgery and it went well. I understand that she will be in a sling for 4 weeks or so and then be back to normal. I am so glad that it went well and once it heals she will be all O.K. She is not the type to lay around and do nothing. I hope that she stays quiet long enough to heal.

Pizza was the dinner this afternoon and then two games of Scrabble. I won one and Tina won one. It was fun and relaxing. We haven’t played board games for quite a while so really enjoyed it. I hope that we can do it again soon. Maybe next month. Starting next week she will be working 7 days straight.

Not much to talk about that you haven’t heard on the news. We are all wearing the KN95 masks and keeping our distance. Schools here are open and the kids are going, with masks. They get off the school bus wearing the masks and keep them on walking home. The people walking their dogs, for the most part, have masks. The clerks in the stores are wearing masks. The shelves are slowly being emptied and for the most part not restocked. Who knows when that will happen. According to the news it won’t be soon. They are blaming it in part on the people eating more at home making a shortage on veggies and meats. ????

Today’s Philosophy:

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times, and give every living creature you meet a smile.

Have a great Rest of your Thursday. Make it a fantastic, fun, frivolous and fruitful day.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2022

THIS APPLIES TODAY AS IT DID DURING WWII.

Wednesday, January 12, 2022 Sunny, Windy Blue skies 51 degrees 4:18 p.m.

It is another beautiful cold winter day here in East Tennessee. The weatherman said that tomorrow we will have scattered showers. It will be colder and there might be snow flurries. Winter is still here and that is fine as it is January. I feel bad for the folks that are having such miserably freezing temperatures and no electricity. That part of winter I dislike.

On the news this morning they were telling about people quitting their jobs to find better paying ones or staying home, working from home or not being able to find child care that they could afford. It seems like everywhere we go there are “Hiring” signs and “Help wanted” signs. In stores we find many empty shelves and very few people working. I wonder what will happen when we have no stores to shop in, no groceries to buy to feed our families and everyone wondering what happened to the big wages they had to have? Robots can’t do everything.

Our garbage man comes once a week. It is just one man and he has the “grabber” that picks up the can, dumps the garbage sacks in the back of the truck and puts it back. Then the recycle men (2) come and one drives the truck and the other picks up the can and dumps the recycle stuff into the back of the truck. I guess the recycle hasn’t gotten the “grabber” for the truck as yet. That is automation. No robot there so far.

Today’s philosophy:

To forget about the mistakes of the past and press on to the great achievements of the future.

Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday. Make it a winning, adventurous, glorious and fun day.

WALKING IN THE COLD WINTER WIND

Tuesday, January 11, 2022 Sunny Calm Peaceful 42 degrees 5:09 p.m.

Another beautiful, cold winter day. There is no breeze so it doesn’t feel quite as cold as yesterday but in the shade one can feel the chill. A coat and scarf and mittens are advisable. Furry boots feel nice also. Most dogs have sweaters on and some have boots. They look so cute in the boots and sweaters and walk so funny in the boots. I am sure they aren’t happy with them, but they also don’t like their paws getting wet.

Our mailman is just now getting his rounds done in our little “village”. He is defiantly late today. He is the best mailman, always pleasant, always making sure that the mail goes in the correct box. If we get a package he brings it to the back door and leaves it on a table set out there. So being late is not that big of a deal to me. He deserves postman of the year.

Here is the philosophy for today:

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of other as you are bout your own.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday. Make it a prosperous, pleasant, productive, and fun.

Blessings
