DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW

Thursday, December 23, 2021 Cool, Breezy Sunny 51 degrees 5:24 p.m.

The day started out cold with a temperature of 25, then gradually warmed up to 55 and is now starting to cool down again. It has been a busy and productive day and for that I am thankful. All the Christmas Shopping, wrapping and mailing is completed and the house is more or less straightened up, looking like humans live here. I like it. We can now enjoy the fire place and the Christmas tree and decorations throughout the house.

The neighborhood is quiet. I saw two little girls out riding their bikes a bit ago, and a lady walking her dog about an hour ago. Either people aren’t home from work or shopping or they are gone for the holidays. I, myself, am glad we are home and not out on the highways and byways. The news said that the traffic is heavy on the roads, in the air and by train. Home is where the car and us are this evening.

The day after tomorrow is Christmas. The wrapping paper will be piled high and the children cheering and laughing over the most wanted and wished for gift from Santa. I can’t believe that here all is finished and Santa can relax. The usual is me late on Christmas Eve, wrapping and fussing and fuming, wishing I had gotten the whole thing done last July or at least as I bought gifts. It is also the remembering and finding where I hid them. This year was so much better as I knew where I put things and slowly got all in order. So Nice

I hope that each of you are all ready for Christmas and are enjoying this beautiful evening with a nice dinner and a warm and cozy fireside, watching a good movie. Now, I am going to go watch the news and look forward to Jeopardy and see if that smart lady can continue her winning streak.

Have a great rest of your day. Make it profitable, relaxing, cheerful and fun.

Blessings

A CANDY CANE SLED

Wednesday, December 22, 2021 Sunny Cold Breezy 43 degrees 5:10 p.m.

A cold winter’s day but no snow in sight. All the parking lots are full and I imagine the stores also. We did a bit of shopping but not much as we are pretty much done. I think we each got a couple of stocking suffers . We will need bread and milk and that won’t be until Sunday.

Tina had the steroid shots in her neck this morning. She got along fine. Afterwards we went to Mimi’s and had breakfast. It was good, but it was also noisy in there. Not a great many people but one waiter was very loud and boisterous, Then there was a family with three or four kids and another table with teenagers . None close but sound carries. It was all cheerful and fun, if loud. The food was good and that was the main thing.

Other then the cats think that it is supper time and I am ready for the news and setting in my recliner wo watch it and wait for Jeopardy to come on. That one gal has made it through 14 games so will see if she makes it through tonight’s game. She is good. I wish I could remember her name.

The last story will be on Friday. I do hope that you have enjoyed them and that it brought back a memory of when you were in first grade, or what ever grade those stories from.

Have a great rest of you Hump Day. Make it a fun, busy, positive and gracious one.

Blessings

A SLEIGH RIDE WITH DOBBIN

Tuesday, December 21, 2021 Cloudy Cold 18 degrees 4:09 p.m.

Today is a raw, cold day with no wind and heavy clouds. We are not expecting a storm as far as I know but it has been cold all day. I know that winter is here for sure. And today is the first day of the season! Of course they are saying that Christmas will be sixty plus degrees. We didn’t see daylight until after 8:00 a.m so you know it is the shortest day of the year. It is only a little after 4:00 p.m. and you know it will be dark soon. I’m not sure if that is the night falling or the clouds. Whichever , the lights will soon go on and evening will be upon us.

I do believe the shopping is done, the gifts are wrapped, the cards are mailed and the packages either delivered or on their way. I am sure there will be a few straggling cards to send or gifts to grab but at this moment we are all set. I do have some wrapping to do. And there is some baking to accomplish but nothing major and that has got to be a first for me. I am usually the last minute gal!

Today’s Story: OUR CHRISTMAS PLAY

We were nervous and excited in assembly today, for our parents came to visit us and watch our Christmas play. Our teachers helped a little, but we did the most ourselves, the fattest kid played Santa and the smallest kids were elves.A few were Santa’s reindeer so they got to run and leap, some of us were shepherds, and a bunch were wooly sheep, there was Jesus in the manger, there were angles wearing wings, there was Joseph, there was Mary. and the three wise Eastern kings. We wore makeup, we wore costumes, it was really lots of fun., and our parents all applauded when our Christmas play was done. Then we took our bows together, everyone that is, but me – I just stood there green and fragrant for I played the Christmas Tree!

Have a wonderful rest of your Tuesday. Celebrate the first day of Winter and all the beauty of the season. Remember to be kind and cheerful and spread joy wherever you go.

Blessings!

A COZY CHRISTMAS STORY WITH GRANDMA

Monday, December 20, 2021 cloudy breezy chilly 50 degrees 5:06 p.m.

A very chilly day after a warm weekend. We had a bit of rain and lots of clouds and some wind. All in all, not a bad December day. No snow in sight so there is not much hope for a white Christmas.

Friday, our day out adventure. was so much fun. We went to Alpine Helen Georgia. That is a German town that is so unique and pretty. all the buildings are of alpine design, down to the last detail. There were so many shops and candy stores and places to eat that it was hard not to stop at each one. I am sure that Jerry entered each and every candy store, looking for a special kind, which he didn’t find as far as I know.

Helen is located northeast of Atlanta Georgia, off interstate 985-395 and southwest of Greenville South Carolina, off interstate 85.. There are more then 200 specialty and import shops, restaurants and over 1,100 quality rooms located in Helen. There is river tubing, horseback riding, golf, canoeing, fishing, mountain biking or hiking to one of the many majestic waterfalls close by. We saw a couple of the most beautiful waterfalls.

The shops were wonderful with such an assortment of clocks, dishes, pottery, novelty items, clothing, cards, etc. They were so fun to go through and everyone was so nice and helpful. There are activities every month of the year and classes in pottery and art, as well as other things. The place is fascinating and beautiful. The Christmas decorations were so tasteful and well done, everywhere.

We stopped at an ice cream shop and had a cone. Yummy! and later we stopped at a beer garden for coke and water and pretzels. they were big and luscious. Jerry had some type of egg rolls. He said they were very good. It was fun as they had live music and a man and his dog came in. The dog was gigantic, long haired, white with some “blond patches here and there, a bushy tail and very friendly. I think he was a steady customer as everyone seemed to know him and the dog was very welcome and greeted by most all. He(the dog) jumped up and sat on a bench along with his master and the folks with him. His tail hanging down, wagging back and forth, happy as can be. So fun!

The ride up there is about three hours and so was the ride back. I loved the scenery and enjoyed the whole day, rain showers, sunshine and moon light all.

The story will be in tomorrows blog.

Have a wonderful rest of your Monday and make it a specially, last of the fall Mondays of 2021.
