Friday, July 21, 2023 Mostly Cloudy Breezy Humid Rain a’coming 86 Degrees 5:10 p.m.

After a very wet and rainy day yesterday today has been nice, even sunny for a bit, and pleasant. now even though we have some sun we also have some dark clouds slowly rolling in. Everything is very drippy wet, and I can almost see the grass growing. I imagine that Monday the gentleman who mows the lawn will be here to get it mowed and back down to a manageable size.

Yesterday it rained from the time I got up until I went to bed. I had to go to Knoxville to a doctor appointment so spent the day with Dottie. We were busy chatting and working on the two pieces Tina and I made at the Brush and Boards place last month. we put polyethylene on them, then stained a small wooden trunk I bought at Hobby Lobby. It is so pretty.

After the doctor appointment we went to Nick and J’s for lunch. We had great hamburgers, about a foot high. Very good, clean, and nice small family owned place. Jerry and Tammy like it and go there a lot. It was perfect for us as if we had gone the opposite direction we would of had flooded streets. We will go get out art work tomorrow.

Tomorrow is Bryan “BAM BAM”‘s fight in London. Of course we are all rooting for him and I sure hope he wins. He needs a good win. I am not sure what time the fight comes on over here but am sure that it is on ESPN something. I don’t even know what the odds are for betting. I don’t bet.

Time to get dinner. I am not sure what we are having but I think, since I am just getting started, it will be a salad with grilled chicken. A good summer meal.

Quote of the day: “SIGN POSTED ON HARRIED SHOPKEEPER’S DOOR Out of my mind. Be back in five minutes”.

Have a great weekend. Keep it a safe, fun, productive, relaxing, healthy, and cool one. Today also.

Wednesday, July 19, 2023 Cloudy Rainy Breezy Humid 73 Degrees 2:45 p.m.

We are having summer weather without the heat. I can’t believe it is as cool as it is because yesterday wasn’t this cool, for sure! I am certainly not complaining. I know that the heat will be back very soon. I understand we will have thunderstorms and rain on and off the rest of the week.

Saturday Tina and I went to the Moose Lodge Christmas Craft Sale. They were raising money for toys for underprivileged children for Christmas. We were told that last year they raised enough to give 100 children each a gift, and they hoped to do much better this year. They went on to say that the ladies of the Moose lodge were always working at raising money for the different project they have. One is a children’s home in Illinois where they have several homes for orphaned children. Each home has a set of parents and 4 to 6 children. They take children from new born to 18 years, and completely care for them, providing a home, medical, education, everything that they need. Once they turn 18 they move to a dorm and have their choice of a collage or university, or trade school. They can live in the dorm until they graduate. They take children from all over the United States. They also have a Retirement Home for life time members in Florida where they can live until they die with all expenses paid. That is housing, food, clothing, medical and at the end of life burial. The Moose are everywhere in the United States as well as 7 or more countries around the world. We were told that it costs $80.00 to join and $50.00 a year there after. These two ladies were quite the sales people and seem to be looking for members. They said tha tthey are very active and always on the go doing things and going places. they have different activities each day or night a the lodge and go on trips etc. Cruses are a big thing with them. They gave us applications to join and said they would be glad to hold a check until the first of the month if we needed them to. We said that we would think about it.

Quote of the day: ” Hope is the feeling you have that the feeling you have isn’t permanent”.

Have a great rest of your Wednesday. Make it a cheerful, exciting, entertaining and fun day.

MONDAY, JULY 17, 2023

Monday, July 17, 2023 Sunny Hazy Windy Humid 90 Degrees 5:14 p.m.

We enjoyed a couple of days without humidity and even one or two without rain. Today the humidity is back and a slight chance of a thunderstorm. So far, no sigh of the thunderstorm. The weather lady said that there is chances for thunderstorms and rain all week long. Hello Summer.

Friday Jerry texted and asked if we wanted to go out for hamburgers for dinner. Tina agreed so I got ready and Jerry picked me up. Tina went to Jerry’s house after work, so met her there. Dottie showed up a few minutes later. We played with the dogs until Tammy got off work, then headed out to the new place they wanted to try. It was fantastic!

The name if the place is Bit Burger. It has every imaginable kids, ( one year old to w00 year old) games on the walls, in actuality. The McDonald’s Happy Meal toys, Pac Man, Mario brothers, video games, Star Wars, I can’t even remember them all. It was so well put together and fascinating. They had one pinball machine that the kids could play. Their menu was also game named items, hot dog and hamburgers as well as milk shakes of all sorts. And, of course soda pot. We each had something different and each one was great. I can’t remember the name of mine, but it was a bacon cheese burger, very good, with bacon hanging out the sides. I also had the waffle sweet potato fries. That is a keeper as far as a great place to go. Good food and awesome entertainment. Oh, yes, the music was the oldies, hip hop, good and fun. The waitresses were “weird” looking, odd colored hair and jewelry, etc. Very nice and so fun. We all agreed that we would go back.

Saturday Tina and I got up, had a cup of coffee, then took off to do our shopping before the storm hit. It was very warm and humid but things have to get done, so off we went. We had breakfast at Jefferson Square coffee Shop, then on to Walmart, Hobby Lobby, back to the Moose Lodge for a craft sale, then to the meat market for meat and finally home. After putting things away, grabbing a bite of lunch we collapsed in the recliner and pretty much stayed there the rest of the day.

Sunday was very quiet. Tina went to the store and got what we forgot on Saturday. We had breakfast, did our normal Sunday ritual, took a trip to Food City, came home and watched HGTV Celebrity Holiday Homes. Quite interesting. We got a couple ideas.

Today was laundry and a lot of putting things away in the “sewing room”. The place where everything gets piled.

THURSDAY, JULY13, 2023

Thursday, July 13, 2023 Mostly Cloudy Windy Humid Rain Expected 89 Degrees 2:45 p.m.

The summer time heat has arrived here in Oak Ridge. We are to expect temperatures in the 90’s for the next few days, and the oppressive humid, muggy air to go along with it. Of course the summer Thunderstorms will be popping up here and there in East Tennessee. When looking at other parts of the country, we are in a beautiful place here. No complaints at all.

Tina bought a “blue light” and plugged it in the kitchen. this is to draw any bugs, flies, etc to it and then kill them. I think she forgot to tell this pesky fly that has made its’ home in the living room, right by my desk and the front windows. I have an old fashioned fly swatter and am trained to use it. The fly has had lessons in how to avoid the fly swatter, and the arm and hand of the person using it. This is day two of our fight. Sierra, who should be going after the fly, seems to ignore it totally. Of course, the fly stays away from her.

All the sales are on now, al tho Amazon’s Prime Days are over, the other stores are still having sales. So the school supplies are out and the school shopping has started. Here, a lot of the schools start the first part of August. I think the 8th. I understand that tennis shoes are expensive, especially for the kids doing sports. Some up to $200.00 to $400.00. That is for a pair that come from a shoe store and not Walmart type stores. I imagine the rest of the wardrobe would be expensive also. Then there is the school supplies, like lap tops, etc. What ever happened to pen and paper, binders and note books? Pencil sharpeners and erasers? Parents need to hit megabucks just to buy the school supplies and clothes for their kid.

Have a great rest of your Thursday. Make it a cheerful, productive, adventurous, cool and fun day
