Thursday, September 29, 2022 Sunny Windy Cool 59 Degrees 10:29 a.m.

A short blog today as I have a living room to put back together. the sectional arrived this morning so now have to put everything in place and all that goes with it. it is beautiful and comfy. Room for visitors to sit and us to be comfy in there. That is once I get the room back in order.

Went shopping last evening for cat treats and a three way light bulb. We found the cat treats wit no problem. the light bulb was like going on a treasure hunt. One would think Walmart would have that light bulb. I looked and looked. Found light bulbs that I had never heard of before. I finally found a clerk who was very glad to help me. We both looked and looked but found everything but a 3 way light bulb. His computer said that they had them. They had a lot of “smart light bulbs” that you can manage with your computer, clapping your hands and using your phone. No 3 way! So off we went.

Our nest stop was Home Depot. Tina waited in the car and I ran in as I was sure it would only take a couple of minutes. Well they have many more light bulbs then Walmart. Brands I had never heard of and all sort of “Smart Bulbs”. I finally decided that one needs a collage degree to go out and buy a light bulb. I finally found a 3 way light bulb. It is a ECOSMART, LED, soft white one that is supposed to last 13 years. By then they probably won’t have light bulbs!

Now for my Quote of the day: “Your if, is the only peace-maker – Much virtue in it.” Shakespeare

Have a wonderful Thursday. Make it a wholesome, industrious, energetic and fun day.

THE SECRETARY CAT

Wednesday, September 28, 2022 Sunny Slight Breeze 54 Degrees 10:28 a.m.

We have a nice, quiet, sunny, chilly day that will turn into a nice quite sunny warmer day by afternoon. We work up to frost on the grass and 41 degrees. Now, at 10:28 it is 54 degrees and so pretty outside. I know the afternoon will be lovely. I believe we will have a couple more nice, sunny and cool days before the rain from hurricane Ian arrives. We will have an indoor weekend, decorating for fall and enjoying the rain, I hope.

I have been busy cleaning out drawers and getting rid of all the stuff we just dump in a drawer to get it out of the way. I found adds for May and June that should of gone in the trash and not is a drawer. Not even ones we would save because we could use them or would want to check them out. So dumb. I went through a box I had stuck in the closet when we moved in. In there I found adds from when we lived in Gardnerville. NV. Most of that box went in the shredder or garbage. That freed up some space. I will eventually get through everything. What a day that will be.

Today I am going to do some laundry and ironing. The dresser scarfs and doilies are in need of ironing and the sweaters and vests, etc need to be freshened up for the fall and winter.

I have four crochet angles that Cora Jepsen made for me. They need to be washed and starched. I am afraid to wash them because I don’t know if I can get them starched as stiff as she did. I want them to stand up like they do now. I also want them clean. I have found faultless starch extra strong so hope that it will work. I am afraid to start this task, but they are in need of cleaning and I have no idea where to take them to get that done. The cleaners here won’t touch them. I am so open to ideas or places where they might do this task properly and with know how. They are so pretty and I don’t want to ruin them.

Time to get busy. Quote of the day: ” People don’t care how much you know. they just need to know you care”. My calendar

Have a wonderful, cheerful, productive, terrific and fun Tuesday.

AN AWESOME COUPLE

Tuesday, September 27, 2022 Sunny, Cool, breezy, beautiful, 48 degrees 9:17 a.m.

There is a fall chill in the air this morning. The kids had on jackets as they walked to the bus, and the people being walked by their dogs had on sweaters and jackets. Yes, Fall is upon us. The leaves are slowly starting to change color. I know that up in the Smokies the trees are being decorated in their fall colors. So pretty to see and to watch.

The animals are busy gathering their winter food and preparing to be ready for a long winter’s nap. The squirrel is very busy raiding the bird feeders and gathering all for winter. he is having problems getting into the feeders so he shakes the posts or limbs holding them until the seeds fall out. He is so ambitious and knowledgeable as to how to get what he wants. The chipmunks are equally as wise. they wait for the squirrel to shake the seeds down, then they run over and stuff their cheeks full and take off, back to their home. I think they live under Mayor Bills house somewhere. He says that they don’t but I see them go under by his living room window.

I have never seen a state, even Texas, be so enthusiastic over their football teams. The businesses back them, the schools back them, the hospitals and nursing homes,; The citizens are all rooting for them. Everything is Orange and White, clothing, shoes, table cloths, curtains, you name it. Dog outfits are all pro the VOLS and so cute. The excitement is contagious and the talk is all about the games, past, present and future. When Tina got home from work yesterday we went and had our nails done. The talk in there was all about the game on Saturday and the win and the next game this coming Saturday. Nails are orange and white checked, striped or with footballs or helmets painted on them. So cute. I still need to get a shirt.

Have a day filled with smiles, laughter and prosperity.

A BABY BIB FOR A YOUNG TENNESSEE VOLS FAN

Monday, September 26, 2022 Sunny, Still, Beautiful 58 degrees 9:20 a.m.

A lovely fall morning in East Tennessee. We had a busy weekend. Saturday, after Tina got home from work, we went to Knoxville and met Jerry for lunch. Tammy was on her way to the stadium for the Vols and Gators game. We ate at a cute little place called Nick & Js. I had the best patty-melt I have had in many years. I like them but seldom order them as they are usually very greasy and sloppy. this one was perfect.

After visiting and eating we went our separate ways. Jerry home and Tina and I to Rooms To Go and looked at the sectional that we liked the week before. We sat in it, measured it, thought about it and finally decided that it was the one for us. There was a sale going on which we didn’t know about so the sectional was less expensive this Saturday then the last Saturday which made us very happy. the coffee table, end table and lamp were also on sale so we got the whole thing for less then what the sectional was the week before. We did take the floor model of the end table, coffee table and lamp, which helped. I could see nothing wrong with them and neither did Tina. They will be delivered Thursday.

After that, we went to Lens Crafter’s where Tina had an eye doctor appointment for computer glasses. AT her new job she needs them. While she did that I browsed through Skechers shoe store and then World Market. That store is so interesting with so many different things in it. I bought a tin of German Gingersnaps and they are so good. I mainly wanted the tin but love the cookies. I also bought a package of Black Jack gum and gave to Tina as it is licorice and Tina likes licorice. And two packages of Necco candies. I have always liked those so bought two as I know we won”t get back there anytime soon.

Sunday Tina went to work and enjoyed her last day at Home Depot. She said that she will miss her co-workers, customers, and petting all the dogs. But she won’t miss the pain in her back, hips, legs and feet. The rest of the day we just relaxed. Watched some of the shows we have recorded, played on the computer and basically did nothing. It was nice.

Now it is Monday and I am starting a new time for the blog. With Tina’s working hours being normal and evenings full with dinner, dishes, and some TV or whatever is going on, I decided that doing the blog in the morning was the best. I hope that you agree.

Have a great Monday morning. I hope that your day is filled with positivity, prosperity, pleasure and fun.
