DOGWOOD BLOOMS NEARLY GONE FOR THIS YEAR.

Wednesday, April 27, 2022 Sunny Breezy Clear skies 69 degrees 5:47 p.m.

Wednesday, the middle of the week. As the camel says, “Hump Day”. this evening there isn’t much going on that I have heard about. Church services at several churches. Boll practice at a few fields, In Knoxville there is an opening play at one of the theaters and several sales at different stores. Here, we will have a quiet evening watching some TV and then bed. It is nice that tomorrow morning we don’t have to get up at 4:30. Of course, I usually sleep until 6:00 a.m. but occasionally get up at the same time she does. Especially on Sunday mornings.

The neighbor gal, Pamela, came over with her dog, Roxie, this afternoon. She was telling about the great pie she bought. She said it was a lemon pit with a fluffed up marshmallow top and was so light and fluffy and so good. Who new lemon could taste so good. We both laughed and told her that it wasn’t marshmallow on top, that it was meringue. She didn’t believe us and had to google it. She couldn’t imagine egg whites could taste so good. So we told her that the Soup Kitchen had the best Lemon Meringue pie around. I just wonder if that is where her and her dad went to eat tonight.

SUCH A PRETTY DOGWOOD TREE

Tuesday, April 26, 2022 Sunny Windy Cool 67 degrees 6:29 p.m.

A cool but beautiful spring day here. We woke up to rain that lasted on and off until around noon, then it cleared up and was a pretty day. April showers will bring May flowers. The temperature dropped about 20 degrees from yesterday, and should be cool most of the week.

Not a great deal of news around here. Tina bought more dirt for the container garden and that should get going this week. Her and Julie are plotting and planting this garden so am looking forward to fresh veggies or seeing lots of animals in the yard. The deer are very interested in gardens and will probably visit theirs once it gets going. Here it is not usual to see deer in the yards, enjoying the grass, flowers, etc. I hate seeing them get hit by cars and that happens a lot. The deer are in town, all over the place.

this morning I enjoyed watching the neighborhood squirrel scampering around looking for seeds and whatever else he could find to eat. So far I haven’t seen him in the bird feeders so he either is a new squirrel or else he hasn’t been hungry enough to work hard to get into the feeders. I don’t think he can, but then, they are smart critters.

THIS IS THE LAST WEEK OF THE DOGWOOD TREE BLOOMS. THEY ARE SLOWLY BEING BLOWN AWAY BY THE WIND.

Monday, April 25, 2022 Partly Cloudy Breezy A Bit Humid 82 degrees 4:08 p.m.

A lovely Monday after a nice weekend. The weekend was beautiful, warm, sunny and just perfect. We enjoyed the good weather that allowed us, and all, to go to the Farmer’s Market, and three garage sales. One garage sale was at Country Club Estates and the house was at the top of a long uphill driveway. A beautiful home with lush landscaping. Tina hiked up the driveway and viewed all the goodies and chatted with the lady. The lady was a senior citizen. She had laid her sale stuff on the floor of the garage on sheets. She was selling clothes, bras, undies, pj’s, and such. All very clean, neat, looked new and tastefully placed. She also was busy working on her landscaping as she said it took a lot of time as it was in so many layers. I believe that as it was beautiful.

The next garage sale was a cute little home and they mostly had old movies, children’s games and toys, and some clothes. Also tires that looked good.

The third was a flea market up at the parking lot of the high school. We didn’t stop as there didn’t seem to be anything we were interested in. Home was the next destination. there we spent the rest of the day.

Sunday we went to Dottie’s for dinner. Pot Roast, potatoes, carrots, onions, corn bread and brownies. All so good and yummy. Jerry and Tammy were there as well. We had a great time with great company. A fun day.

Today, Monday, was laundry day. And catching up on the e-mails and mail. Tina worked outside a bit , the garden is the forefront of her thoughts at the moment. Planting in earnest will begin Wednesday. Am looking forward to fresh veggies.

INTERESTING, BUT AM NOT SURE WHAT THEY ARE….

Friday, April 22, 2022 Sunny Calm 82 degrees 4:01 p.m. Cats Snoozing

A beautiful start to the weekend. Warm, sunny, with a very slight breeze. A great day to be outdoors in the yard, planting, weeding or just enjoying the great outdoors. We have had the window open and enjoyed airing out the house. We now know that the windows need help.

The one window I had open a ways, decided to open wider, on its’ own and hit the computer. Neither window or computer were hurt. It startled me and made me aware that something has to be done with it. It is now closed but am not confident that it is secure. The mysteries of this house are always keeping us on our toes. It is the challenge that makes it interesting and fun? Well, at least interesting.

Mayor Bill introduced Tina and I to a new Mexican restaurant here in Oak Ridge. It is called Barrio, and it was wonderful. They had street tacos and street corn and both were delicious. The restaurant was on the small side, but cute, clean and cheerful. the waitress was friendly and helpful. The prices were good. We will go back again soon. So far, this is the best Mexican restaurant we have been at here. The one starting with a Zeppa, or something like that, is also very good.

Tina has spent her two days off doing a lt of yard work. Yesterday we went and bought soil for the container garden ans also for the flower bed she wants to plant under the Dogwood tree. I bought a citronella “geranium” plant and set it outside by the front door. It will help keep the bugs and mosquitos away. I hope to get a couple more of them for both out front and in the carport. The mosquitoes here are plentiful. They love Tina and Jerry, but don’t seem to bother me to much. I guess those two are sweeter then I am.
