SNOW IN EAST TENNESSEE

Monday, January 3, 2022 Cloudy Cold Still Snow flurries 34 degrees 4:58 p.m.

It is hard to believe that this is the 3rd day of the new year. Winter arrived yesterday with rain, wind and early this morning snow for most of Eastern Tennessee. We have had the rain and wind, but just snow flurries on and off all day. It is cold, that damp bone chilling cold. The windows were steamed up and the car had to be warmed up. The furnace came on at 67 degrees. Yep, it is winter. Brrrr!

The weekend was quiet around here. Ball Games and movies, reading and playing games. Nothing exciting. Since Tina had the early shift at

Home Depot we were in bed early. She asleep in her room by 8 and me in mine watching TV. By 9:30 I was out. I see the New Year came in without us watching. It did very well I think. Sunday was more of the same. Now it is Monday and the beds have been changed, and the buffet cleaned out. Two trips to Kroger’s, two trips to J.C. Penny’s and two trips to Xfinity. One trip to Korn’s. We got groceries at Kroger’s, got home and the bag of Cuties had several moldy ones in it as did the bag of potatoes so we had to take them back. The other two stores weren’t open and didn’t open until noon so had to go back. I guess they all thought they needed the morning off.

Jerry and Tammy got the snow but we didn’t. You know he didn’t go out and build a snowman. I just talked to Dottie and she said that she had enough snow that she had to shovel the snow off her porch in order for her to take the dog out. She is in Clinton which is about 28 miles from us.

That is my day and it has been a good one, Now, I will leave you with this bit of philosophy and wish you a great rest of the third day of the New Year.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31, 2021 NEW YEARS EVE.

WAITING FOR THE NEW YEARS EVE CELEBRATION IN HELEN GEORGIA

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Friday, December 31`, 2021 Cloudy, Wintry looking, 60 degrees 4:21 p.m.

It is hard to believe that New Year’s Eve is here and another year is passing into the history books. It has been quite a year. We have experienced stores with empty shelves, cargo ships clogging the ports with merchandise needed by stores and hospitals, factories and farms. We have seen people unwilling to return to their jobs, preferring to sit home and either work from home or live on the stimulant checks provided by the government. It seems that every business has a sign in their window ” we are hiring”. There are those same signs along the highways and streets. Hospitals are once again over crowded with COVID patience. Governors asking, begging, bribing people to get the vaccinations and boosters. Masks are required most places and most people wear them.

On the bright side, more people are cooking and eating at home, Families actually visiting and caring about how everyone’s day was. The babysitting business is so expensive that many moms and dads are electing to work from home and children are being raised by their parents rather then a day care center or babysitter. Schools have been virtual most of the time so computers are now a necessity rather then a want by kids. Sadly the social aspect isn’t there. Home schooling is as much a lesson for the parents as well as the children.

We have lost many important , people this year, both personal, political and entertainers. Loosing the personal ones, family members and friends are felt the most. the country feels the loss of the rest. My prayers go out to the families and friends of those who have passed on. I hope and pray that 2022 brings in peace and health to all. That COVID and all it’s strains fade into history. I wish each one a Very Happy New Year and a safe and fun New Year’s Eve.

My last Blog of 2021.

SHOPPING IN HELEN GEORGIA

Thursday, December 30, 2021 Rain and Clouds most of the day. Now the sun came out. 64 degrees 4:52 p.m.

we started ht day by taking all the stuff off the Christmas Tree and getting it packed carefully, ready to put away. We packed up the rest of the stuff yesterday. Jerry was here bright and early, took the tree down and got it in the new Christmas tree bag . It fit great. Much better then the old one. Then he went up in the attic and informed up that there wasn’t much room up there for anything. There is two boxes of paints and two or three drawers up there that one day we will have to get down and dispose of. So the next step was to re-arrange she storage shed to accommodate all the Christmas totes and the trees. Now all is done and put away neatly. Thank you Jerry. After that we all went to breakfast at I=Hop.

When we got home we cleaned the living room and put things back where they belonged. We had company for a while which was great as we don’t get to see her often and do enjoy her company. We have a lot to do but will take our time and get it the way we want it while going through all and probably getting rid of a bunch of unused stuff. The things we didn’t remember we had and no longer can use, etc.

Weather is to be nice until late tomorrow night and into Saturday. That is when the next storm arrives and brings us rain, wind and winter like temperatures. Our Dogwood tree has buds on it so wonder if the winter weather will kill the tree?…

Have a wonderful rest of you day. Make it productive, safe, healthy and fun.

SOME OF THE SHOPS AROUND THE BEER GARDEN IN HELEN, GEORGIA

Wednesday, December 29, 2021 cloudy, raining, still 57 degrees 4:55 p.m.

a very cloudy, rainy day with occasional winds blowing the leaves and fluttering the flags. The squirrel l was out and about this morning, snooping in the flower pots and just checking the place over. He is cute and very inquisitive, Also the Blue Jays were back and had breakfast, then the small brown and gray ones were back a bit later for their breakfast. Then the hard rain came so they all left.

Today Tina went to the doctor because she has a cold or bronchitis. The doctor gave her a COVID test and will get the results tomorrow. The doctor also said that strep throat, colds and flu are going around like crazy right now. She said to wear her ,ask. She always wears her mask as do I . What ever bug she has I hope she gets over it quickly. Being ill does not become her. And, Kleenex is expensive!

After the doctor we went grocery shopping. It is amazing how much the prices on everything have gone up in just a few days. I was shocked. But we got what we needed and a couple extra things just to have on hand so am glad that is over. Walmart isn’t the cheapest place to shop either, I have found some things less expensive at Kroger’s . Name brand items. I guess now it is shop where you can find the item you want rather then price. The news said it will get worse.

Yesterday Retired Senator Harry Reid passed away. The USA has lost several governmental personalities as well as movie stars and sports personnel. John Madden also passed away yesterday. He had a great seance of humor and was 100% a Football person. I know the sports world will miss him a lot. I am sure that the political world will miss Harry Reid also.

Have a great rest of your Hump Day. Make it a warm and comfortable and fun day.
